Hull do have some very rich backers uses days willing to put in money so they probably can offer more than us. Whether a move to another Championship club would attract Dieng is open to question. I would think if it were to a promotion candidate willing to pay more he would go as there is no interest from the PL where most clubs looking for a keeper are looking abroad. My question though is if Hull's owners are allowed to put cash into the club why are we not allowed to.

My question though is if Hull's owners are allowed to put cash into the club why are we not allowed to. Hull already have a very high wage bill. Perhaps they will take the points deduction in order to go for promotion? We cannot even do that - as it would be a second offence for us. I think increasingly, player deals focus not just on wages but release clauses and their valuations. Would we be prepared to match the wages offered elsewhere and cede on future sell-on value? Owning players is getting more and more like leasing a car instead of buying it. It is never really yours unless you find a lump sum at the end of the term. Unless you have a young talent from the academy, there are few clubs who can offer serious money now. The market for Championship players has collapsed and the players hold all the power. The players we will sign this Summer will probably all have left their last club in similar circumstances. As JFH would say....'It is what it is'.

Murphy Mahoney gone on loan to Swindon so it looks like Dieng is staying - or we are leaving ourselves exposed.
Nico H. is finally being shown the door according to WLS with a 20 year French guy being released by Fulham being lined up as back up to Paal. Right back position looks very weak though.

It also depends on what Hull's revenue stream is like. If they have a higher income than us then FFP will allow them to be able to spend more than us The richness of the club owner has little to do with it, too. Basically, Bill Gates could buy QPR tomorrow but unless he was prepared to face hefty FFP penalties he'd be unable to just go out and do a Wrexham and buy a shed load of players that were too good for the division we're in. Thems the realities of the situation.

I thought he was going to go through and entire career at the club as a permanent "Loaned out" player.

Loud noises about Lewis Wing soon to be announced. It is already on Wiki - but that counts for nothing. Also, some noise about we are talking to Bradley Dack.

If he’s anything like the player that he was .. Yes please! Horrible, technical and eye for goal. Just the sort we need but was valued at 5mill then and now a free .. does make you wonder.

In other words now you see them now you don't.
Until I see something on an official club site I have given up speculating although I would say Sony's performances second half of last season would not have boosted his upwardly mobile ambitions.. So many out of contract players kicking around who knows what will happen.

Apparently Boro reporter said they were never after Willock at all. Also that they have turned their attention to another keeper, make of that what you want?

I'm on page 83 of "Shooting to the Top" by R. Marsh, then I look at this thread and the squad thread and it makes me depressed and want to cry.

Roundabouts ! Boro were reported to want Dieng, then reported to want Glover with Dieng as a back up choice if they do not get Glover and now we are supposedly after Glover so maybe Dieng is on his way to Boro or Leeds or Reims or maybe Dieng stays with us or .............Boro want Dieng ..........

If Boro do sign Glover and Dieng there is going to be one very unhappy keeper up there. Glover moving to get better football, Dieng moving either for money, hope for promotion or fed with us. Either way 2 international keepers at Boro ?
If we get 2 million for Dieng it will probably be about right in our situation and the market, but hope we have a sell on clause. I have the feeling if we get 2 million none will be spent on incoming transfer fees but it will be used to cover the wage bill for some free signings. We are trying to build up from a horrible situation so that is probably the way we have to go.
