Yes, many happy QPR fans today. But this may well be a case of “be careful what you wish for”……

Personally I felt it was time for the change now. Nothing will be taking away from the fact that Les Ferdinand being a god when it comes to QPR as a player. We could easily be playing in League One this season. Time to freshen a few areas up, that was one of them, maybe a few more too.
I think the three or more candidates they have lined up all seem quite reputable with some QPR connection with Warburton possibly in the mix as well.

As Nomar says be careful what you wish for. Come September 1st some will be dancing in the streets and some will be saying why did he go. Was he pushed, did Ainsworth get stronger powers to chose his own targets so he decided to go.
Meanwhile returning to the thread topic of transfers. Lyndon Dykes, if he is set for a move, may have helped his reputation and our fee with a goal and assist in last nights surprise Scottish win in Norway. He scored after a defensive slip and made the match winning goal.
Still this quote from BBC re Dykes performance probably says it all
Quote "Dykes, despite sometimes looking lost up front, continues to produce big moments in a Scotland shirt, and is the symbol of a team giving every inch of itself."
Pity he seems to give every inch in a QPR shirt as well but very rarely has he produced a "big moment". Probably because of the way we playtime and formation. No doubt if we sell him he will produce some big moments for who ever he goes to.

I am not sure what I wish for in a QPR DofF. Clarity of role perhaps? Autonomy from occasional owner interest? Perhaps it is time to combine the role into the CEO position. I think that if Gallen gets the job it will be as a glorified Chief Scout - and then what is Belik's role? Warburton hardly matches up with Ainsworth and will proibably want to replace him with Eustace. We are scrapping around for funds, perhaps we should save the £600k pa rumoured salary. Meanwhile we have a singing! Dixon-Bonner has signed a one-year deal following his short-term contract last season!

Rumours doing the rounds: Paul Smyth - returning from Orient (Free agent) Ioannis Pittas - Apollon Limassol. Both wingers, so we are clearly searching for that pace that we lack!

Josh Scowen!! Are we just trying to recreate a former team ?

I thought Scowen was hard done by at QPR. A good 'ratter' who the crowd turned against. He closed his social media account at the time. Be surprised if he would want to return, but more money talks. As for Smyth, that is now sounding like a done deal. I thought he was quick and hard working - perhaps he has grown....LOL

Wiki says he just scored 18 in 36 league games and 2 in 6 "continental" games - assume that means Europe. 20 goal a season winger sounds good - but what quality league is he playing in? Re Smyth having effectively been dumped by us under successive managers and with our restricted salary budget I would imagine his only reason for coming back would be because of relationship with Ainsworth. But that's the way these days, managers sign players they know and players go where they like. Are either an improvement on Chair or Willock or the rest of the squad? Probably not but shows the market we are having to operate in given FFP constraints - or both could just be rumours. On the bright side at least we have a couple of rumours to think about and both, if true, should be free to join us well before the season starts.

Maybe we can tempt back Jeff Hendrick to play along side Scowen - both fan favourites who would jump at the chance of playing at Loftus Road again

I quite liked Scowen, thought he always put a shift if not the most flamboyant of players

Pleased with smyth, let’s hope he hits the ground running. It seems most of our business will be done with lower league teams. Still isn’t that what we always done or had to do years gone by. We will always being a selling club. Just need to start making profit not losses.

It’s a sad indictment that Premier League Luton have just signed Ogbene from Rotherham and their fans are happy.
We sign Smyth from Leyton Orient and our dear Twitter fans moan that he’s not good enough and not a Premier League striker.

It’s a sad indictment that Premier League Luton have just signed Ogbene from Rotherham and their fans are happy. We sign Smyth from Leyton Orient and our dear Twitter fans moan that he’s not good enough and not a Premier League striker. It is what he represents to some (half empty) .... A player who has been here before and was loaned out to Accrington Wycombe and Charlton as not good enough. One of Ainsworth cronies from lower leagues. But to others... He scored a great goal on his debut here and was in great form before his injury(s) - was then binned out by McClaren (along with several others with potential), but now made it to the EFL Division Two Team of the Season, with goals and assists to his name. He is only 25 and is just the sort of player we would be urging Ferdinand to go and buy usually. He has the pace we so sadly lack and need for 'Gazball' style of play. Message boards display the negativity that is not usually present at the ground anyway - many never go near the ground who complain. Just armchair complaining that we are no longer buying Premier League strikers and completely ignoring the economic reality of the situation. I do not have any beef with what we are doing, and I wonder if the hiring of a Director of Football has been shelved for this Summer anyway. My frustration is that we have rich owners who almost certainly would be prepared to give it a go to win promotion (acquiring better players) but are not allowed to, and yet repeatedly community clubs are suffering through complicated ownership structures, designed for motives other than football club ownership. Our owners got it badly wrong and broke the rules and were severely punished = ok. But some football clubs have been vehicles for all sorts of activities that go unpunished - only the fans suffer. The inequality that the Championship teams face is more about protecting the Premier League. I do not believe it would be hard to resolve if there was a will to do so. Making owners place a surety would be a first step. ....I strayed from the thread....sorry!
