What a superb performance. Will remember this for a long time.
Marti instilled belief in the lads and got so many tactical decisions right this season
So pleased for Andersen to get a goal. He deserves massive respect for what he has brought to the team.
Chair’s tricks worked tonight. His talent complimented with better decision making.
A highly assured performance from Begovic. Very alert all night and a crucial game changing save when we were 2-0 up. If that had gone in it could have been a very different outcome.
Cook and Colback delivered again. Class players when fit.
Raise a glass to Marti tonight 👍

That’s an excellent deal. So even if Eze had suffered a drop in form and was sold on for £10m we would still get 2m.

Just a guess but I’d say the 20% sell on only applies to the profit they make on a sale. So we sold him for £18m…
60 - 18 = 42 @ 20% is 8.4m
Still nice money and if Nourry/Marti continue as they started it would fund a league winning squad!

Dykes work rate was back up there again. He was in the right place to capitalise on the goalie error. Otherwise, he looked as unlikely to score as he has in the last 15 games.
Their goalie gifted it to him. Had it been Begovic who made an error he’d probably have a contract out on his life by now from the less understanding fans. Instead he defied his critics (or more accurately ignored them) to make the crucial saves that secured our safety. That’s the life of a keeper. I hope he gets at least a fraction of credit he deserves for today to offset the cheap mouthing off he has been targeted with recently.

We are second to every ball. Hull on top without needed to get near top gear
Work rate looks ok with everyone except dykes who looks lethargic . Rest of the team thrashing around with little effect . Cannot blame Begovic this week
Might as well throw Armstrong on

This thread is starting to make me sick with the persecution of Begovic. He is a keeper and as we all should know when a keeper makes a mistake it shows and often leads to conceding a goal - they are on a hiding to nothing. Outfield players can make dozens of mistakes in a game and apart from a few saying they had a bad game they get away with it. Clive may be literate and long winded to the point I do not read his novels but that does make him the gospel or right. He has his prejudices as does everyone. Let's face facts - we had little or no choice or alternatives when we signed Begovic and despite the mistakes he has also saved us on quite a few occasion and received no credit. Only a couple of games ago posts on here said he had just played his best game so far. I expect any other keeper we signed under the circumstances would have been worse, not better, and equally made mistakes. Even Dieng in the second half of last season made just as many mistakes as Begovic so lets back off and support the players for the crucial last 4 games rather than running them into the dirt. There is no transfer window so we have what we have and destroying players confidence, especially Keepers helps no one. I expect Begovic is experienced enough. to not let it unduly get to him but who knows. Other points crossing into the scrap for survival thread are that: 1. We are still in a far better position than many expected after the disaster start to the season, our fate is still in our own hands. 2. With Rotherham down it will take 2 out of Huddersfield Wednesday and Brum to get 5 more points than us from the last 4 games and the others below us to catch us as well, to get us into a relegation place. Even then Brum would have to turn over an 8 goal goal difference to catch us. Of course we would be safe now if we had won the last 2 games. 3. The reason we did not beat Plymouth and many other games this season is not because of Begovic but because we have a set of "strikers" who cannot hit a barn door from 2 yards - we have seen misses if front of open goals from that range - blame Begovic for that. Smyth had 2 golden opportunities at Plymouth that any half decent Championship striker would have buried or at least got one of the 2 and we should have been out of sight. 4. When was the last time we had a striker or forward player score - we rely on Field and the centre backs to score at set pieces. 5. By far the biggest blame for our situation is a man called Ainsworth backed by Amit and I will never change opinions or forgive them for that. 6. We have a good manager in Marti who is still learning the Championship, and doing what he can with the players available. My only criticism of him is why on earth he has used Uncle Albert in the last couple of games when we have left better and quicker players on the bench. Marti has made a couple of mistakes over the season in preparation for games but so has every manager - all part of the game. So onwards to Hull and from there on we will see where we are at the end of season. I wonder what people will say if Begovic saves a last minute penalty at Hull to win the match - pure luck of course or a badly taken penalty Hear hear

I read it but feel no more informed than when I had simply watched the game.
Clive’s write ups would be half as long and twice as insightful if he toned down the attempts to be funny. It’s like every other line is some feeble quip. Less is more IMO. It took ages before I got to the bit where he eviscerates Begovic. At least in the rest he covers where the far more important problem lies with our hopeless finishing.
He admits he is Begovic’s biggest critic and he is emotional after the game but there is criticism here he never would have said earlier in the season. Saying he had an anal haemorrhage FFS. I mean what does that inform me other than Clive is just….Clive. If you have pointed me here to make the scales fall from my eyes regarding Begovic’s inadequacy I think something else from Clive’s cannon might have had a better effect.
For me, Begovic came in and settled the GK position which had been desperate with Dieng (who in true QPR style has gone on to be a better player elsewhere). The defence in front of him was woeful in the first months but I’m adamant that there was quite some time when he was being praised for his saves, organisation and cool leadership. He supports his managers and speaks well in media without getting drawn into any arguments. He is consummate professional. He gained us points in many games, points which put us where we are.
I don’t believe the reports about his salary and he will most likely retire in a few weeks but has played as much a part of the revival of this once awful team as anyone yet is taking the majority of the abuse being unfairly fuelled by articles such as Clive’s.
There is no argument. If there is a responsibility to repay the fans for their holiday time or beer money or whatever then spread it out to cover Chair, Armstrong, Dykes, Smyth and Albert as well.

I think this is getting too harsh on Begovic. He has gained many points with his saves in previous games. Sadly this goal was from his error. He is an improvement on Dieng where the entire defence looked bereft of confidence game after game last season. I think Begs and cook have brought the stability and not only in matches but in the dressing room and training ground too. Only my conjecture but I don’t think I’m over reaching in saying that. God forbid Cookie makes a couple of mistakes and his contribution in many games gets forgotten as a result.
Far, far worse is our profligacy in front of goal. Chair is getting away with little criticism considering his one trick pony approach. I love Paul Smyth’s industry but doesn’t he deserve pelters for missing utterly easy goals?
We’ve done amazingly well to get where we are and I’m not for smashing anyone now we’re stumbling over the line.
Except for Albert. He was Sh1t lol

The finest player to ever wear the blue and white hoops, bar none.
Now forever in your prime tearing down the wing, terrorising defenders and scoring goals no one else ever could.

Very good battling against a cynical basic team in Rotherham who had no intention of playing football.
That’s a very good sign and well done Willock who I thought was not justified to be in the team.

A bit of luck, some dodgy decisions in our favour and a bit of hard work but we did it.
But Willock no longer deserves his place. Sadly, he was slow in transition, lost in the build up and profligate in front of goal.
