I’m not so positive about the first half nor about Sinclair Armstrong. We cleared the ball off the line in the 2nd minute and there on we matched a lazy Bournemouth team that played as if they only needed to turn up and they’d win. First goal was well taken but more a result of a complacent centre back. It’s easy to force a runner out in that position. If we think Armstrong would score goals like that with any regularity then forget it. Competent defences have no problem with these runs week in week out. Dykes goal took a freak deflection which is some welcome luck from hard work but hardly a basis for a hopeful outlook.
I’m more bothered that Marti in his interview explained he gave clear instructions how to come out after the break and not sit back yet we did exactly that and Armstrong cancelled his goal by forgetting his instructions and not marking his player literally 3 mins after coming out.
A couple of Bournemouth subs of true quality revealed the true situation. It’s not the case we matched a premiership team at all. We matched a weakened and complacent Bournemouth who totally destroyed us by going up a gear without ever having to reach top gear.
I’m more sympathetic to Begovic. Without his shot stopping we’d have been stuffed anyhow and there are others in the defence I’d single out before him. Kakay is just woeful and we expect too much from the limited Dunne. I think Dunne has never recovered from his nightmare partnership with Rob Dickie last season.
But while I have sympathy for a clearly frustrated Marti C he does not get off scot-free. For the second week I’ve seen him sub off Smyth for Adomah which is bizarre and persevering with dreadful liabilities like Kakay. I can handle that in a cup game which will ultimately mean nothing but in the league we need to gamble that injuries will be kind and play our strongest team every time to have a chance of staying up.

Whether or not you like discussing rumours (I do) that’s what this thread is for 😀
So I’ve read this morning that we are back in to try and get Tim Iroegbaum on loan but face competition from Beale’s Sunderland.
Bristol Rovers fan forum says we have submitted a bid for Aaron Collins . If true then I guess he’ll be asking Chris Martin about life at QPR

The thing is I can see the fight and endeavour but we lack quality in so many players that everything we do breaks down in the final third. It’s all hopeful balls resulting in 50/50 challenges which we lose every time.
Depressing.

Interesting points Ricky.
Despite the sparseness of the squad I think some departures are quite possible in this window, not so much for transfer fees but to free up wages so we can have some incoming options.
I am under the probably erroneous impression that Marti has enough contacts in Scandinavia that he can find us attacking options for very little money. I may still be living in the 1990s though.

That’s taking using the squad to an extra level. Working to some extent so far . 1 up at half time.

We can definitely turn this around. Our performances under Marti have been like night and day to Gareth.
Whether it’s the transfer window dealings that tip us into getting results or the fact that once the existing players start scoring they won’t stop it is clear to me we are resurgent.
Some difficult decisions may need to be made but Marti is winning my confidence that he is on the case.

A totally inspirational player and manager. A QPR legend in its truest sense and not the overused status afforded to anyone who kicked a ball for us.

A gamble is exactly what I came here to say.
Of course, I’ll back him all the way but I think this is the first time I’ve seen a management appointment that is so inscrutable in its choice that I cannot see any merit in it.
Just when we desperately need stability and a steady experienced hand we go totally left field.
If we have players not motivated and not pulling their weight how is someone with no reputation going to win them over?!?
I fear they’ll be doing the “haka” before we know it!

I find it strange that people are talking down Warnock as short term.
Warnock is only short term in the way that all managers are short term. A manager lasting more than a season is in the minority both at QPR and everywhere else
