Always wondered how i would feel if i had moved abroad, my parants wanted to emigrate to Aus in the fifties, but dad changed his mind at almost the last minute, (why leave the best country in the world) is what his reason for not going.
I would have missed the Rodney era, and the Bowles plus the ninties team.
If i went now i would get too homesick for Loftus road methinks, although it no doubt would be a better life for me and my family, boys grown up now and dont know if they would fancy it either.
So i will spend the rest of my days here in northolt, still able to drive down and park outside my bros in mourice street off the a40, and trundle over to watch my beloved football team.
Sigh...........

Guess that's me
First match vs Brentford 1959 Clive Clark tore em apart and was soon on his way to the 1st division.
Season ticket holder for 10 years
1967 league cup - met Ronnie Hunt sometime after and he admitted he fouled the keeper for rangers winner.
Saw Rodnee, Bowles, Wegerle, Bano at their best and their worst
Threw the ball back to the Tranmere keeper, who said "thankyou", he picked the ball out of the net nine times that night.
Saw Micky Leach(RIP) score and put Rangers into the 1st division for the first time ever at Aston Villa.
Saw the FA cup final against Spurs, where we equalised in the last few minutes- I was at the Spurs end and got a bit of a kicking for jumping for Joy
Saw the most extraordinary match ever - Rs 5 Newcastle 5, think Rs were 4-0 down
Happy days, sad days, great memories though. I have lived in Spain for the last 6 years so it's a bit like Queens Park Strangers to me at the moment but there has never been or never will be another club for me. Roll on the Premiership.

Hi, my first post.
I have been reading this board along with QPRdot .org & Clive's for quite a while & finally joined to add to this thread.
Coming from a small market town in the Chilterns (Chesham), I grew up with Chesham United as my first football love & repeatedly changed my professional side until Queens Park Rangers claimed me. As you can see, the same pedigree as CanadaR!
The first Rangers game I saw was away to Orient in 1967 shortly after the League Cup win.The following year I saw many a game & who can forget the magical drive back from Villa Park after securing promotion.
However, at that point I would not have classed myself as Rangers. That happened the next season. Relegation can do strange things & it hooked me for life! It may also have helped just a little that Rodney had converted my brother & free rides to the Bush were too good to turn down!
Marriage & moving to Ipswich in 1974 mean't that my visits became limited, although I still made most home games in 75-76 & can still recall every kick of the game in THAT match at Norwich.
After becoming a father in 82 I was limited to seeing my team at most twice a season & that included the visit to Portman Road. This continued until the 03-04 promotion season when I found myself able to start going to Loftus Road again. Ever since I have been a season ticket holder along with my oldest son who was born & bred in Ipswich (however, I had no chance with my other son!)
Was I supporter in the years that I coud/did not attend? Well, every defeat hurt & every year that we avoided relegation was to be celebrated. That may not be enough for everyone's definition of a supporter but it is for me.

Not 100% sure when but it was in the 2nd half of 1976. Read the overeas fans thread to get the full story.
The funny thing is that I have yet to see QPR play in the flesh so to speak - so I guess 34 plus years of support for a team that I have only seen on TV and read about in the media, in ac ountry where Rangers barely rate a mention, isn't bad going.

well i went to my first game at the bush when i was 6, so thats 1978 for me, i remember stan bowles going to forest not long after i started supporting the team, then relegation not long arfter, then venables, the plastic pitch, the cup final, and loads of ups and downs since, so i'm still a pup compared to some like coxy 66, but hopefully i will still be around following the r's in 40 years time and boring people with tales of ferdinand and alike.

April 1978 was the first game for me, with my Dad who never liked and still doesn't like football but took me from then until the mid 80's when I was old enough to go with mates. Thanks Dad!

I wonder how many of us have actually met each other without knowing it? I mean the internet wasn't around then. I was there in 1980 and again in 85. I have wonder how many of you fellow users I have actually encountered without now realising it.

I could remember my first game being around Christmas v Plymouth and the R's winning 2-1. My Grandad and Dad both took me along and ever since then have supported the Rangers. Have just checked that it was 1958-9 season so makes it 52 years for me! I too can remember crowds moving ends at half time. Also remember being at the Loft end leaning over the advertising boards at the front and banging on them . Other great memories- League Cup Final win v WBA getting cramp in my hamstring after Rodney scored- having played earlier that day! Remember the huge crowd that turned up for Rodney's return after injury in a reserve game and an incredible performance from Rodney v Leeds at home. What about the drummer that always seemed to be on the side of the pitch? Also remember vividly, winning that last game v Aston Villa to gain promotion-also got hit on the head by a coin thrown during that one! Then the awful League cup final v Oxford -best forgotten! Whilst I didnt get to see the World Cup final live at Wembley I did get all the players autographs the day before when they visited the stadium-which I still have ! There are so many other memories over the years-both good and bad and its so good that we seem likely to re-create some good ones again !??
