I know posts often come over wrong, but I ask this because i'm interested, I am NOT having a dig at ANYONE! What exactly does being a supporter mean? Is it living abroad & keeping updated? someone who likes QPR but doesn't go? Or are you asking people who go to QPR on a regular basis & are staunch fans- home & away? Sorry guys, but because of mainly MAN UTD ' fans' who think living in London, shouting at sky tv & buying a shirt & wouldn't even find Manchester if they had an RAC rally map reader with them (And who's Dad's all wore Liverpool shirts before them!) Makes it hard to clarify exactly what a supporter is anymore!!! I think 'liking QPR' & being a supporter are very different. Because of Rodney, I ' Like' the Rowdies, but I can't support them as they are in America!!!!! You get my drift P.S. When we are promoted.... lets all meet up & paint the town in HOOPS!!!! Impossible to define Tel. In reality, if you say and believe Rangers, then you do. It's indefinable really. Mine's easy, I lived in North Ken and had no choice, taken to a game at seven years old, end of. Same as my three boys. A more incomprehensible question to me is how do you let your son support another team. If you are a proper fan, obviously.

Well if I'm not a QPR supporter, then I'm sure wasting an awful lot of my time!

I do know a lot of fans whom were here during our darker days - the threat of administration etc, If we did win promotion and all these new faces were to appear, I'd be asking where were you whilst also welcoming an increase in fan numbers

To be honest, Chaz has more skill in one foot than one size has in his complete game.

Well, I haven't taken offence but I would like to give us non attending 'supporters' point of view. My family moved from Notting Hill to Creighton Close, Shepherds Bush (Off Blomfontein Road) in 1938. They were already Hoops supporters. They lived there until about 1969. Most of the fourteen kids went to Bentworth Road school. The first time I went swimming was at the pool on the Blom. The first pub I ever saw was the Smuts. The first team I saw was QPR. I was born with blue and white blood. The photo below was taken today, it shows the scarf I wore at my last game at LR. That was in 1974 against Leeds, a lot of strife at that game. I left the old country in December that year, I have never been back to England and because I dont fly I probably won't ever see LR again. The Rangers are as much a part of me as my family is. I AM A SUPPORTER

I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a 75-76 glory hunter! First game was v Ipswich in 1977 and I was a season ticket holder for a while. Was bought up just west of London so I'm kind of a 'local'. I don't know why some people question what a supporter is though? So I happen to have moved a long way away but I've been to hundreds of QPR games over the years and always go when we are back in the UK. Being 12,000 miles away doesn't mean I love QPR any less than I always have done.....it is an extremely important part of my life. At least when you live in the UK you don't need to get up at 4am to listen to games or skive off work on weekday mornings!

One thing that amazes me about this message board, is how far and wide people are spread across the world - and all supporting the hoops. It is incrediable really.

Tell me about it, there's been two new New Zealanders joined this season and an extra Aussie. I love it, I don't feel so distant anymore, might even organise a QPR convention. I can get Reece Crowther, Nick Ward and Richard Johnson to be the guest speakers.

And I will see if I can get Ned Zelic, to tell about his great time as a QPR stalwart.

Thing about Ned Zelic was that he was a decent player we were told and we beat off loads of teams to get him. And we must have picked the only Aussie who did not like London!

1978 was my first game. Bolton won 3-1 if my memory serves me well . Strange thing was i used to go to Spuds before then but although i enjoyed the games i was never a supporter of them. Then i arrived at Loftus Rd and knew QPR were my team. From then on i was a regular and totally hooked. Had a couple of years away when the kids were born and money was tight and i cant get to as many games as i would like now due to work commitments. The kids have also followed in my footsteps which is the way it should be.

It depends what you mean by support and how it is defined. Some will say seeing every match, singing, and going by ambulance if you have to. Others define levels of support, others do not see support as occurring before they were born.
A quiz needs to be devised to determine if you are really a supporter, born into it, convert, can name the last fifteen goalkeepers in a row in 1 minute, remember how many matches Ingham played. How many old programmes you have.
Does it count if you were there as a foetus. ? You know this may all sound from the lunatics mouth, but I will tell you, there are many fans that feel a sense of pride and superiority defining the 25 years as how they define it.

No one else can decide whether you're a supporter or not.
Where you were born, where you grew up, how many games you've seen have nothing to do with it. And comparisons are neither here nor there. I don't think any Rs supporter thinks he's better than someone else because he is older, went to more games, started younger, grew up in the Loft, West London or anywhere else. We don't mention our 'pedigrees' to make others feel bad about theirs, only because it is interesting to know how diverse we are.
It would be strange if the Rs didn't have a local component in their support, but it would be equally strange if it ONLY had 'locals'. And most who were local at one time or another will have moved away from the area eventually. What is reassuring about meeting supporters of smaller clubs is that, by and large, you can be pretty sure they ARE genuine. Glory hunters can get what they want at Old Trafford.
I don't see us as being in competition with each other. Our Club is in competition with the other Clubs. And even that is a shared rivalry. That's why the Clubs are grouped together in 'Leagues' and 'Combinations'.
If you support QPR, you're a supporter. The only one who knows is you.
More specifically, anyone who can say the magic words 'Ray Drinkwater' must be a supporter!
Remember his 'two lovely black eyes'? Maybe it was me, but I think he must have had deep eye sockets or something. Don't think it shows up in photos, but he always seemed to have two shiners the many occasions I saw him play.
Black shorts too, wasn't it? The players always had white ones, but the keeper was green jersey, black shorts, white socks.

I can not judge any one who is a QPR fan nor would i.
In the old days it was simple if you follow QPR in any manner you are a fan in recent years there is some that want to prove they are the top fans with the top site and all other QPR fans are false or have an agenda. You could not make it up.

I like these responses. Reality. Ray Drinkwater looked a bit old or tired, maybe it was his eyes, but a very good goalkeeper imo. RIP. Cardiff have a drinkwater , is he related?
