Started supporting as a kid in 1967. I had just moved to Wembley from Greenford and saw pall-bearers carrying a coffin up Wembley High Street with WBA on the side and also a small plane with a trailing banner with QPR on it. Does any one else remember seeing those? Anyway, that convinced me which team to support. At he time I didn't realise they were my local team- got lucky I suppose.
My Dad didn't like football, so I only I started going to Loftus Road regularly with one of my Dad's QPR supporting mates and his kids in 1971.

January 27? Isn't that the "new year"? not chinese.. half indian and half malay and full qpr... I just want the season to start, I want to see Warnock screaming at the refs and adel tearing fullbacks apart. 2 great reasons. I am resigned to us getting loan/squad guys from arsenal, chelsea and spurs, get two each! as long as they have pace and are hungry...who knows? Cheapest team of all time!

I have often wondered what my first game was.It was in the 59/60 season and probably from the first game. My father had supported them for years before and probably his father before him. Unlike one of my mates on the Indyrs site my memories started getting better in the early sixties! Mind you when you embarked on away trips knowing full well you were going to be defeated in those days it is not surprising you did not retain much! I note you are the site historian and you may wish to know I have previously contributed several articles on the Indyrs site under Growing up in the Bush, relating to following the Rs.

Just found out about this board and this was one of the first subjects to catch my eye so thought I might as well start off here.
I saw my first Rs game in 1939 at the tender age of 3 so that makes me a supporter of 72 years standing but I refuse to disclose my age to anybody!
My late father took me to that game - no idea who we were playing - and he saw his first game round about 1918. He died in 1991 aged 83 so between us we have put in quite a few years.
I often yearn for the old days when things were not so complicated, it was not all about money and we had directors who really cared about the club and not their bank balances.
Nice to be here.

1939? Amazing, my mum was born in that year, I wish I could have a pint or four with you, sir. Could you write about those teams and games you saw from time to time? What Rangers were like after the war, the 50's/60's, it would be a privilege, gramps.

Absolutely: Massive welcome to you... You and London were probably at some of the same QPR games in the 1940s Amazing

It would be my pleasure to recount one or two anecdotes from time to time although I have to say the old memory ain't what it was! If you ever find yourself in Essex I might well take you up on the 'pint or four' but these days it tends to be nothing much stronger than shandy! Coincidentally, my late sister was also born in 1939.

Welcome mate, can you remember who we were playing for your first match?? Blimey Rory, I can't even remember what I had for dinner last week! Seriously though, I only recall Dad telling me that Division 3 (S) was abandoned due to the war and two lesser divisions were formed and we played in both. Incidentally, I recall Dave Mangnall, who later managed the club, as a powerful centre forward who scored a hatfull of goals. I had the pleasure of meeting him in my teen years. He bought Fred Durrant to the club for the princely sum of £5000! Dad went into the army at the outbreak of war and was sent to Burma so that put paid to my football attendances until after the hostilities.

I first began supporting QPR about circa 1977 when I was at primary school in North London, I was born in Barnet. My best friend was a QPR fan and he would often where his ‘silky’ QPR shirt during PE so thank you Neil Harris wherever you are ......I think. More pain than pleasure.
In theory I should have either supported Spurs or Arsenal I suppose but as I found out when I went to Secondary School most if not all the Spurs fans there were deeply unpleasant but by then it was too late to change even though I received much abuse as I was the only QPR fan as far as I know who attended that school.
By chance many years later whilst carrying out some family history research I found out that one of my blood relatives originated from Shepherds Bush! So I do have some connection even though it is in a very small way.
