From TEAMtalk www.teamtalk.com/news/championship-trio-track-former-forest-loaneeExclusive: Championship trio track former Forest loaneeDate published: Tuesday 18th October 2016 1:22 Championship trio Norwich, Queens Park Rangers and Bristol City are tracking Slovenia defender Bojan Jokic, sources have told TEAMtalk.com. Villarreal defender Jokic impressed for Slovenia in their goalless draw with England earlier this month despite playing the majority of the match with a broken toe. The 30-year-old is well down the pecking order at Villarreal and he has not featured for the Spanish club so far this season, but despite his lack of club action Jokic has featured in Slovenia’s three World Cup qualifiers so far. Jokic enjoyed a loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season, making 21 appearances for the club after joining the Championship side last January. The talented full-back is out of contract at Villarreal and a number of clubs across Europe are understood to be keeping tabs on his situation. Norwich, QPR and Bristol City are all admirers of Jokic and could move for the defender in January as they look to bolster their defensive options in the New Year. If he's got any sense he'll go to Norwich as he'll be a Premier league player next season. Even at Bristol City he stands a better chance of going up than if he comes to us.

Do we have something against right backs? If you collect enough left backs are you allowed to trade them in for a right back like cereal box tops back in the day? WE NEED A RIGHT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

From The 72 the72.co.uk/67159/qpr-trial-for-ex-bolton-defender/?QPR hand trial to former Bolton Wanderers defenderBY JAMES O'ROURKE ON OCT 25, 2016 Queens Park Rangers have taken ex-Bolton Wanderers centre back Alex Finney on trial. The 20-year-old appeared in an Under-23 game for QPR on Monday, a game which they lost 5-1 to their counterparts from Millwall. Finney was released by Bolton earlier this season. Finney played the whole 90 minutes as they suffered a heavy defeat at Harlington, a game where Sandro was also sent off for violent conduct. During his time with the Trotters, the Huddersfield-born defender only made three appearances for the club. After appearing in the EFL Cup defeat at Blackpool earlier this season, he was released by the club a few days later. His last league game of any kind came in September 2015 when he took to the field against his hometown club, Huddersfield Town, as Bolton went down to a 4-1 loss at the John Smiths’ Stadium. Finney joined Bolton in 2014 from Leyton Orient, where he didn’t make a firs-team appearance. He now finds himself looking for a new club, and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is keen to run the rule over the youngster. With the likes of Joe Lynch and Grant Hall suffering from injuries problems, the Dutchman is looking at the possibility of strengthening his defensive options. With the transfer window closed until January, the free agent market represents the only possible chance of clubs adding to their squads.

I thought Finney sounded a really weird trialist to have involved (though it's not like there's much to lose) - released by Bolton and apparently not good enough for Leyton Orient. But apparently he's only leaving Bolton as they need room in the squad for some signing from Wigan and he was poached from Leyton Orient when Bolton weren't such a basket case football club - it was a step-up at that time.
We've not got a great record of judging trialists - we turned down Paolo Wanchope and Clive Mendonca who both went on to be great. Any others?

From westlondonsport www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-wls-qpr-set-first-signing-since-holloways-returnQPR set to sign Finney on short-term dealBy David McIntyre 17/11/2016 QPR are set to sign Alex Finney on a contract until the end of the season. The 20-year-old former Bolton defender has been on trial with the R’s, featuring in recent Under-23 matches. He has been without a club since his Bolton contract was terminated by mutual consent in August. Finney joined Bolton from Leyton Orient in 2014 and made three first-team appearances for them, two of them coming in the league. He is set to become QPR’s first signing since Ian Holloway’s return for a second spell as manager.

Although a defender, Finney sounds another Gobern to me If we sign him, hope he is better than John Curtis This is little more than an extended trial for an EDS player, all part of building the academy. Although technically he is Holloway's first signing as WLS state, he was on trial here before Ollie was appointed and I doubt that Ollie has had much input in this.

Might turn out ok, although we have had a habit of getting these fringe players and releasing them a couple of months down the line without getting near the first team. Who was the lad that went on loan to Newport County, thought he might have been given a bit longer.

Players like this are signed as having some potential and to see how (or if) they develop, not with any immediate thoughts of them being in the first team squad. I'm sure that all clubs do the same, we just don't hear about it. Reece Grego-Cox is on loan at Newport. I'm sure that he has not been written off yet, but I'm sure he knows that he must make a positive impression there.

Always thought Tyler Blackwood was an odd one on paper but those are the risks I guess. He did well for our U21's but didn't seem to cut it out on loan. Broken record on Finney but it's not that simple for him. Bolton didn't not take him because he's a poor player, it's because they were making a signing from Wigan and needed to make space in the squad. Finney is still developing and could have been a good future asset for them but Bolton don't have the luxury of developing players like him right now towards the first team. They poached Finney from Leyton Orient and it was a decent step-up at the time but now Bolton are a bit of a basketcase club. It might work, it might not but I think these are the kind of players worth taking a chance on. You probably get more failures than successes but I always remember the likes of Austin, Deeney, Bullard, Ferdinand etc. were plying their trade in non-league without much interest before people took a chance on them.

Thats quite alot of goals conceded. The defence in these games must get a right confidence bashing that cant be helpful, surely ?

True that - I guess the downside of packing off your best prospects on loan to league 1 or 2 is that what's left behind are more likely to get battered week in, week out and as Harr says, that must really knock their confidence. Difficult really. I definitely agree with the argument that youth players benefit far more from playing in front of crowds with other pros of a range of ages (if they're ready) than they do playing on training pitches against other kids, but it must devalue the experience of those 'left behind'. Hopefully the fact that youth players are getting picked to go on loan and/or get integrated into the first team is encouragement enough that their performances rather than results are what matters most when it comes to their future with us.

The answer to our woes? From westlondonsport www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-eye-young-arsenal-wide-manQPR eye young Arsenal wide-manBy David McIntyre 12/12/2016 Arsenal youngster Tyrell Robinson is having a trial with QPR. The versatile 19-year-old, who had a trial at West Brom earlier this season, can play on either flank and has featured at left-back for Arsenal’s development side in recent months. He played on the left of midfield and scored for QPR’s Under-23s in a match against Watford on Monday afternoon. Jamie Mackie made his return to action by playing an hour of the match at Rangers’ Harlington training ground, which kicked off at 1pm. Mackie has not made a first-team appearance this season, having suffered ankle ligament damage in July as he was on course for a comeback from a long-term hamstring injury.

Interesting - it's certainly an area we're weak at if we want to play with attacking wing-backs (Robinson, pretty good but unfortunately crocked and Bidwell, really consistent but not really a wing back). We have left sided wing options and we aren't (currently) playing with traditional wingers so I'm not sure why we'd be after him for there, unless it's cover.

From getwestlondon www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-rumour-jordan-rhodes-qpr-12362873Transfer rumour: Jordan Rhodes to QPR from Middlesbrough - Hoops caught between rock and a hard placeRangers might get a proven goalscorer - but they could also get a hefty wage bill even though the side is desperately short of goals BY PAUL WARBURTON 10:33, 23 DEC 2016 UPDATED 10:33, 23 DEC 2016 Jordan Rhodes is on the shopping list for a pile of clubs with QPR also wondering whether to dip a toe in the loan market. The striker moved to Middlesbrough for £9 million in February, but has been a shadow figure as boss Aitor Karanka opted for Viktor Fischer, Adama Traoré and Álvaro Negredo instead. Rangers are desperate for more firepower in the second half of the season having drawn a blank in all but one of the last five pointless matches - and that a too-late consolation as they lost to Wolves. But a move for Rhodes brings all kinds of problems. Firstly, Rs would prefer a man ready to hold up the ball rather than run on to it and nick chances. They already have one of those in the form of Conor Washington, who is sorely short of confidence. Secondly, as prolific as Rhodes is or was, he comes with a near £60k-a-week wage bill at a time when Hoops are hamstrung on budget and still to sort out a Financial Fair Play wrangle with the Football League. Even, if his wages were cut in half and shared, he would be the second-highest earner on a payroll when only midfielder Sandro’s £40k-a-week is the third last of the Premier League spending spree - Nedum Onuoha and Steven Caulker are the others. The message Hoops would send out is mixed. Why talk long and loud about savvy spending only to run a truck through it at the first hint of relegation problems

From hammyend hammyend.com/index.php/2016/12/qpr-mull-january-move-for-tunnicliffe/QPR mull January move for Tunnicliffeby DAN on DECEMBER 22, 2016 Ryan Tunnicliffe celebrates scoring his sides fourth goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Bristol City and Fulham played at Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol on 31st October 2015 QPR are one of a number of sides considering a January move for Fulham midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe, according to a report in the Daily Mail this afternoon. The 23 year-old combative midfielder has not featured for the first team since October and is eager to get more game time. Rangers’ boss Ian Holloway is eager to strengthen his midfield options in the new year but could face competition from a number of Championship sides. Fulham’s opponents on Boxing Day, Ipswich Town, and Preston North End are also reportedly interested in securing the former Manchester United man’s services and Fulham could be keen to strike a permanent deal with Tunnicliffe’s current contract expiring in the summer. The industrious Tunnicliffe, who captained United’s youth team during his time at Old Trafford, has also attracted interest from north of the border with Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton eyeing potential replacements for Joey Barton. Tunnicliffe has made 61 first-team appearances since signing for former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen alongside his ex-United team-mate Larnell Cole on transfer deadline day in January 2014, scoring two goals. He has also had loan spells with Wigan and Blackburn before reestablishing himself in the first team picture. Tunnicliffe has found first-team football harder to come by this season, despite being impressive in Fulham’s opening night win over Newcastle. He has suffered from the emergence of new signings Stefan Johansen and Kevin McDonald and managed just ten appearances, the last of which was as a late substitute as the Whites came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Norwich City in October.

From the Express www.express.co.uk/sport/football/746268/Rangers-to-step-up-interest-in-Brentford-striker-JotaRangers to step up interest in Brentford striker JotaBy SCOTT BURNS PUBLISHED: 00:02, Thu, Dec 22, 2016 | UPDATED: 00:25, Thu, Dec 22, 2016 RANGERS boss Mark Warburton is ready to step up his bid for Jota. However, he will have to fend off interest from Queens Park Rangers to keep Clint Hill at Ibrox. Jota, who is currently on loan at Spanish club Eibar from Brentford, worked under Warburton at the London club. The 25-year-old is frustrated by his lack of first-team action with Eibar and is set to return to the Bees. But he only has six months left on his contract at Griffin Park and they may be keen to offload him. Reports have claimed Warburton flew to Spain for talks with Jota. However, Brentford boss Dean Smith has no knowledge of that. Smith said: “We’ve had no contact from Rangers. He’s our player and they would have to come through us first. “I’m sure that’s just speculation. I’m not sure Mark would go out there to speak to one of our players. “We keep in contact with Jota, who isn’t having as much game time as he’d like to and we would like him to. It’s only been a conversation so far.” Meanwhile, QPR are keen to take Hill back next month. The 38-year-old defender is out of contract in the summer. QPR are in a relegation battle and boss Ian Holloway believes Hill would be invaluable in his confidence-sapped dressing room. He is also prepared to offer Hill a coaching role to try and make the deal happen.

Neil Warnock wants Ale at Cardiff according to Express.
Cardiff Exclusive: Neil Warnock hoping for surprise reunion with former QPR star. The Argentinian midfielder enjoyed his most successful period under Warnock during an injury-jinxed eight years at Queens Park Rangers.
He has since moved to Getafe in Spain, where has scored twice in nine games this season, after a loan spell with the Serie A side Palermo in 2013.
But Express Sport understands Warnock is now aiming to try to sign him for Cardiff City in next month's transfer window.
The much-travelled Warnock rates his 'old boy' as one of the best players he has worked with.
And 30-year-old Faurlin would welcome a potential reunion with the man he describes as the most influential manager he has ever had.
Faurlin has overcome two serious knee injuries to revive his career in Spain, having joined Getafe in August.
