From Read Norwich. I'd forgotten Caulker was still ours! readnorwich.com/2015/12/29/norwich-move-qpr-defender/?NORWICH COULD MOVE FOR QPR DEFENDERBy Sean Galea-Pace 11 mins ago Norwich City are reportedly looking at the possibility of signing QPR centre-back Steven Caulker this January. The English defender has been on loan at Southampton for the first half of the season but has struggled to hit the ground running. Norwich face stiff competition for his services with a whole host of Premier League clubs looking at the option of signing Caulker on a permanent deal including Sunderland and Crystal Palace. Championship club QPR are looking at offloading high earner Caulker off their wage bill and believed to be looking for a £5 million fee. Norwich appear to be wasting little time in the January transfer window so far following the struggles of the summer and have been linked with a number of defensive reinforcements. With the permanent signing of winger Matt Jarvis already confirmed and interest in Inter Milan centre-back Andrea Ranocchia hotting up, Alex Neil’s side could be all set for a very busy month.

....and Palace apparently also want him! readcrystalpalace.com/2015/12/29/palace-linked-move-england-defender/?PALACE LINKED WITH MOVE FOR ENGLAND DEFENDERBy Ste Hoare 2 hours ago Crystal Palace are being linked with a move for Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker, who is currently on loan at Premier League rivals Southampton. Caulker, who was capped once by England in 2012 – a game in which he scored, has not been featuring regularly for Ronald Koeman’s side, with Jose Fonte and Virgil Van Dijk being the Dutchman’s preferred central defensive duo. According to Alex White of the Croydon Advertiser, Caulker could end his temporary deal at the South Coast early and look to pursue a permanent move to the Premier League. The report by White says that Norwich and Sunderland are also potential destinations for the 24-year-old, but Palace may be the favourites to acquire him as part of a player-plus-cash deal. QPR are apparently interested in Palace forward Dwight Gayle and are hopeful that they can do a deal that will be mutually beneficial to both clubs.

QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink wants Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle in a possible exchange deal involving Steven Caulker, it is claimed. The Croydon Advertiser reports that Palace are among a number of clubs interested in Caulker, who has been unable to establish himself in Southampton’s first team since joining them on a season-long loan from the R’s. Norwich and Sunderland are also said to be keen on Caulker amid speculation that his loan could be cut short during the January transfer window. It is claimed that Rangers are looking for a fee of £5m and that Hasselbaink is keen to take Gayle to Loftus Road.

Those two stories make me think that Caulker's agent is busy trying to stir up some interest in a bloke who has made very few fans at his last three clubs. Why would Palace want him when they are pretty tight at the back anyway?

Sunderland interested in Caulker too. Didn't any of these clubs see him play last season? Sunderland have made an enquiry about Steven Caulker and are expected to table an offer for the QPR defender. Caulker, 24, has failed to make an impact at Southampton and his season-long loan could be terminated during the January transfer window. That would pave the way for Rangers to sell Caulker or loan him to another club for the remainder of the campaign. Crystal Palace have also been linked with him but so far Sunderland are the only club to have made an approach. The Feltham-born Caulker, who began his career at Tottenham and has made one appearance for England, joined QPR from Cardiff City for £8m in the summer of 2014. He left on loan following Rangers’ relegation from the top flight and has made just three Premier League appearances for Southampton since moving to St Mary’s. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/sunderland-steven-caulker-approach-wls-football

From hereisthecity www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/01/01/sunderland-target-qpr-midfielder-sandro/?Sunderland target QPR midfielder SandroHITC Sport understands that the Brazilian is wanted by Sam Allardyce. Sunderland have made a move to sign Queens Park Rangers midfielder Sandro, HITC Sport understands. The 26-year-old Brazilian joined QPR from Tottenham Hotspur in 2014 for a transfer fee worth £10 million, as reported by The Daily Mail. Sandro failed to help keep QPR in the Premier League and since their relegation he has been looking to move back to the English top flight. Now Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has highlighted Sandro as one of the number of signings he wants to make in the January transfer window. QPR are open to the prospect of Sandro leaving given he is one of their highest earners, and they would be able to utilise the money elsewhere and give new boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink more flexibility to re-work his squad. Sunderland hope that Sandro will be one of a handful of new signings within the next week as they have already agreed one deal for Lorient's Lamine Kone. The Ivory Coast international defender is expected on Wearside soon to put the finishing touches to a move to the Stadium of Light,

....and more from hereisthecity. This time on Charlie www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/01/01/report-claims-charlie-austin-is-open-to-newcastle-switch/?Report claims Charlie Austin is open to Newcastle switchDerby County, Newcastle United, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are all reportedly interested in Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin. Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin is open to joining Newcastle United in the January transfer window, according to The Chronicle. The British newspaper claims that the 26-year-old “likes the idea of a switch to Tyneside”. “And it will boil down to how much QPR demand for the striker whose contract runs out at the end of the season,” added the report in The Chronicle. Austin has struggled with injuries this season, but he remains one of the best strikers in the Championship. The former Burnley star has scored 10 goals and created 17 chances in 16 league matches for QPR so far this season. The Englishman has a pass accuracy of 63% and a shot accuracy of 49%, and has won 53 headers, nine dribbles and 13 tackles. Austin is very much in demand in the January transfer window, with a number of Premier League clubs interested in him. According to a report in The Daily Star, Newcastle United and Sunderland want to sign Austin.

From The Ugly Inside. Caulker set to return? www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/news/41520/?Caulker To Return To QPRThursday, 31st Dec 2015 09:01 Saints look set to return Steven Caulker to QPR in the January transfer window after what has turned out to be a strange loan period at St Mary's for the central defender. According to reports in the national media, Steven Caulker is about to return to QPR after a 5 month period at St mary's that has seen him only make one league start. There has been something strange about this move, from the beginning Caulker never seemed to be a player that Ronald Koeman rated despite some good early season performances including his only start at Watford where Saints secured a rare clean sheet. But that did little for his chances with Yoshida being preferred as the back up central defender after Virgil Van Dijk arrived whether that was in a orthodox role, as a back three or even as a full back. But it will not be quite as simple as just sending him back, Caulker is on big money and QPR cannot afford to have him back on the wage bill, they will look to resist all overtures from Saints to return him till they have lined up a deal to ship Caulker out on loan again with Sunderland looking likely suitors.

Caulker. Get rid. Bite the hand off at the bone of anyone that is foolish enough to offer any denominations of the Queen's currency to pay for the 'services' of this p*sshead.
Sandro. Get rid, pay Sunderland if necessary. He'll be back in the Championship with them in May but rather he be back on their payroll than ours.
I doubt it will happen though, surely Sunderland already have enough overpaid useless washed up players already?
Austin. No problem with him going but I'd go to Palace if I was him and he has a choice.
Newcastle need to hope either Norwich or Bournemouth have an inept 2nd half of the campaign or else they're joining Villa and Sunderland in reuniting themselves with us here in the Championship next season.
Frankly, I think he'd be an idiot to go there when far better teams will have him. But if he wants to go there then I'd sell him now just to get something for him.
If Fer, Phillips and Green want to bugger off too that's perfectly fine and acceptable to me as well.

Agreed Nomar except I'd prefer to keep Phillips for the time being. Perhaps Traore, Yun, Blackwood and Diakite should join them?
On another matter, I'm not a big fan of 4-4-2 but would like to see two strikers in the team.
Does anyone think 4-1-3-2 would work for us? Can easily slip back into 4-4-1-1- or 4-2-3-1 if need to tighten up when hanging onto a lead away from home for example.
If so:
Green/Smithies in goal (or Bentley if we are still interested)
Perch/Motta? Onuoura & Hall/Hill/Angella Konchesky/Robinson (when fit again)
Sandro/Luonogo (he's supposed to be a defensive midfielder)/Henry
Phillips/Petrasso Gladwin/Fer/Chery/Faurlin/Tozser Hoilett
Austin & Mackie/Polter/JET

For one of the first Transfer windows ever, Ive really lost heart in this one. I cant bear more and more mistakes from the board and TF , yeah give Ramsey the job......3 year deal Get NW in to help, things improve, then employ another Manager with no Championship experience that hardly anyone wanted. All a load of crap. So who will come to us, not many, probably the ones that are just interested in the CASH. What bullshite story about the clubs plans is TF etc going to sell them to come this time. As far as im concerned we can sign 3 more Perches, 2 more Goberns and a Tozser in a pear tree.

The youngster could benefit from a loan move to the second tier of English football, as it will help him develop and mature as a footballer. The Rams currently sit in second spot in the Championship table and look well set to replace Villa in the top-flight next season, despite suffering a recent 2-0 defeat at league leaders Middlesbrough on Saturday, whilst Rangers sit in 16th after a six game winless run under new boss Hasselbaink. Grealish would undoubtedly be a desirable acquisition for most Championship sides even with the questions regarding his lifestyle. Although Remi Garde’s Villa certainly wouldn’t sell him for cheap and financial fair play guidelines would likely restrict a permanent move, therefore a loan would be more likely. QPR & Derby fans…. What do you make of the news? Would you welcome this deal? Or is Grealish too much of a gamble because of his clear lifestyle issues? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!

....also from Football League World footballleagueworld.co.uk/queens-park-rangers-pair-attracting-premier-league-interest/?#YodGE2KP2eqrMHDL.97Queens Park Rangers pair attracting Premier League interestDate: 3rd January 2016 at 7:45 pm Written by: Kieran Creeg As featured on NewsNow: Football NewsFootball News 24/7 Premier League strugglers Sunderland are interested in bringing in Sandro and Steven Caulker from Sky Bet Championship side Queens Park Rangers, according to the Daily Mail. The Black Cats head coach Sam Allardyce is looking to strengthen his defensive options to aid the club’s efforts to remain in the Premier League, as they currently sit 19th in the division and four points adrift of safety. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s QPR are believed to be open to offers for former Tottenham Hotspur defender Caulker, who is currently on loan at Southampton, and midfielder Sandro, who Rangers spent £10 million on from Spurs back in 2014 whilst Harry Redknapp was in charge. 26-year-old Sandro has featured eleven times for Rangers this season in the Championship, scoring no goals and receiving one yellow card. A deal for the Brazilian is possible and would potentially cost Premier League Sunderland around £5 million, which Rangers could use to re-invest in players that would require lower, more sustainable wages. Rangers have failed to win a single game under new boss Hasselbaink, and now sit a disappointing 16th place in the table following a 2-1 defeat to Hull City on New Year’s Day. This leaves them a massive 11 points off of Ipswich Town, who currently occupy the final play-off position, which makes promotion unlikely.

From Club Call. Looks like our defense worries will be over! Defender return fuels Caulker rumours SOUTHAMPTON, LATEST NEWS UPDATE: 1 HOUR 1 MINUTE AGO Saints have recalled Jack Stephens from his loan spell at Middlesbrough and could cancel Steven Caulker's season-long stay early. Stephens returns to the south coast after six frustrating months at his home-town club during which he made just five first-team appearances for the Championship leaders. The 21-year-old had been expected to remain on Teesside for the duration of the season but, to the frustration of Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, he was often left kicking his heels in the reserves. Four of those five senior appearances came in the Capital One Cup, and Koeman told Southampton's official club website: "Jack is back from Middlesbrough. "He wasn't playing there and then why is he on loan if he doesn't play? It's better for him to come back. "Shortly before joining Middlesbrough, Stephens was given a two-year contract extension to keep him at St Mary's until 2019. His return comes shortly after reports Koeman could prematurely terminate Caulker's season-long loan deal from parent club QPR. QPR want to rescue Chelsea defender from Middlesbrough loan as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink contacts former club
09:13, 4 JAN 2016 UPDATED 09:13, 4 JAN 2016 BY MATT LEWIS
Hoops manager pondering a raid on the Bridge for Czech Republic defender QPR manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is considering a winter loan swoop for Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas.
The Czech Republic international is on loan at Middlesbrough again this term but has fallen behind Emiliano Nsue in the pecking order on Teesside.
Blues youngster Kalas, who can play at right-back and centre-back, was a huge hit on Teesside in a four-month loan spell at the end of last term.
He stayed on at Boro after his loan expired to train with the team and support them from the stands in the Championship play-offs, and had assured Boro chiefs he wanted to come back this term.
A deal was quickly agreed with Chelsea to keep Kalas on until May 2016 but Hoops boss Hasselbaink is understood to have spoken to his old club about taking him for the second half of the campaign.

Bamford would be good at this level. Not sure he'll ever make it in the Prem though.
Grealish is overrated but he's goong to be in the Championship next season anyway so not sure why he'd speed that process up by 7 months to come here now.
