Shocked but happy.
So glad we are moving away from Barton. I hope we don't have a change of heart now.

Very pleased Clint Hill has been given another year.
We need to be keeping people like him at the club not as a player but as a foundation to start to build back up the soul of our club!!!!

Not unhappy with the news, but here's my take on what I thought might happen:
Rio Ferdinand - OUT Shaun Wright-Phillips - OUT Joey Barton - stay if affordable Alejandro Faurlin - 12 month extension per-per-play Karl Henry - stay Bobby Zamora - 12 month extension Richard Dunne - 12 month extension Clint Hill - 12 month extension as backup or move to coaching Brian Murphy - stay as cover if he's happy to do so
Likely to be sold...
Austin Fer Green Phillips
Hoilett - keep... he's still only 24 Caulker - sell if we can recoup the £8m (?) paid, otherwise could do a job in the Championship Traoré - could do a job in the Championship if he gets match time Onuoha - would keep in Championship Sandro - sell if we can recoup the £6m paid Taarabt - get rid

Re Sandro...
There were loads of figures bandied about for Sandro at the time, up to £16m, though the fee was 'undisclosed'.
My recollection was that the club dismissed press speculation at the higher end.
Taking the more sensible reports and club's comments, I think the overall 'deal' was worth £10m, made up of a £6m transfer fee and the rest in wages over the period of his contract.

Hill will never leave QPR, unless he wants too. Cant believe we have offered Faurlin a playing contract. A top bloke, with a F***ed knee though.
Onuoha and Henry would be good to keep and I can see Dunne and Barton resigning for a year, which would be a good thing.
Caulker, Traore, Taarabt and Hoilett can do one with Ferdinand, Wright-Phillips, Zamora and Murphy

But Dunne & Barton can't resign for us unless we offered them a new contract.
According to the offie, we won't be doing that!

We just have not offered them one now and if they don't get hooked up elsewhere, they may be cheaper in July or August. West Ham released Carlton Cole last season, but resigned him.

SWP out , I hope he doesn't get a deal anywhere , bled rangers dry for nothing back , not even the goal against Chelsea counts for me ! One of the worst players I've ever seen play for us and that's a pretty long list , in fact the worst I think !

Would like Henry to stay , all this talk about Matt Philips , he's been pony 90% of his time here only came good when Redknapp left I think he should stay , Caulker , Sandro , Traore , Tarabbt , Hoillett ( will never come good ) , can all go , obviously try to keep Austin but unlikely .

I appreciate that he's been one of the guys whose tried last season and been an influence in the dressing room but I really hoped that the club would see this as an opportunity to rid itself of the old era and make a statement. If this is now going to be a club where standards matter and character comes above ability then releasing Joey Barton is a big, positive statement of intent along that direction. I applaud them for making a decision that ultimately won't be popular with a lot of QPR fans and has already had people on Twitter shaking their heads in disbelief. I pray they now stick to their guns and don't revisit getting him back if he's still unemployed in August.

This ^ If they'd have offered him a new contract, I wouldn't have minded as he did a good job in the Championship last time around but a clean break is for the best I think.

I wont lose sleep if we offer him a contract in August or we dont . He would be an asset but we might be able to get a younger version.

I can not begin to tell you how pleased I am that Barton's gone. He has been a blight on our club for three of the last four years, easily our worst signing since Vinnie Jones.
It is clearly time for Dunne and Zamora to go, both will be fondly remembered.
I've mixed feelings about Hill and Faurlin. I admire them both, but am not convinced either is a sensible move. Hopefully Hill is strictly emergency cover while transitioning onto the coaching staff and I pray that Faurlin's injuries are well and truely behind him, but fear that neither will be the case.

Very strange. If your going to give him a job coaching, give him a job a coaching but he was so far out of his depth in the Prem it was a bit embarrassing at times and I hate to say it as he is a leader and a smashing bloke but feel sorry for Dunne. Ale Faurlin is loved by all of us but If he picks up a fourth injury, we have a wasted space in the squad. Its a huge risk, I suppose when you consider how good he is when fit he deserves another chance but we will all be on tenderhooks when those tackles go in. Would imagine its a 12 month deal for both?

I'll be shocked if the contract he's been offered isn't for a Player Coach role
