So far good first half and the best news of the week, Wigan, Blackpool and Huddersfield all 1-0 down that break. Stoke if they win will nearly be up with us but worth keeping Huddersfield down there.
We have been really lucky last few weeks with the bottoms fours results apart from Wigan winning Saturday and Cardiff last night, we need it to continue if the club continue with Critchley.

Yep and all the luck we had for weeks and weeks is running out. Wigan and Cardiff wins last weekend and Cardiff just getting an added time winner for back to back wins. They deserved it with 19 attacks,we be lucky to get half that most games.
Which means if we lose tomorrow and Wigan win, we could be 6 points off the relegation spots and they have game in hand.. We had better support Norwich tomorrow as things starting to change suddenly.
What an absolute shambles our club has become , Critchley better get a point or surely he will go, some say he should have gone after Hull to save us the Sunderland debacle.

What a crap,week.
Cardiff win, two wins on bounce for new boss Wigan draw, three draws and a win for new boss Hudds under NW get a win , never would have come to QPR anyway as won’t work for LF Blackpool grind out a win even though Stoke had 24 attacks at goal.
Meanwhile Stuck to 39 like glue. 8 points off bottom three but they all have game in hand
Blackpool play there’s in the week versus Blackburn, let’s hope they don’t win or we will be just 6 points above.

I blame having all those games on TV. We have a proven piss poor record for "Live" appearances.

Supporting Blackburn tonight v Blackpool, hope they win, then lose Saturday. Also losses for Rotherham and Birmingham would be handy.

Yeah shame about Rotherham only 3 points behind us now but at least we kept the 8 point gap from bottom three Marc. Stoke pushed us down to 18th now 2 weeks , 7th March is when the other two play there games in hand Hudds v Bristol and WBA V Wigan Now we need Gareth to get us that first win 👍

Somehow, every team below us, other than Rotherham who didn't play, managed to lose today. The next game (at Rotherham) is crucial!

Rotherham could be above us when they play us. I don’t know if this team has any fight in it for the four matches with the bottom clubs …. We need Balogun back as the other defenders seem to forgot how to defend 4 months ago.. Can someone tell me when this Club last won a football match?

The last 12 matches we have picked up 8 points bottom of the form table. Wigan and Blackpool only picked up 8, Birmingham 9 , Cardiff 10 and Huddersfield 12
Somehow we need to try and pick another 8 points from our 12 games again, setting 47 points.
The thing we must not do at Rotherham,Wigan and Blackpool is loose and give them the 3 points. Get a draw at their grounds minimum. Eustace may know how to beat us when Birmingham visit, already beaten us when the rot started that Friday night.

Wow ,we havnt won a game prior to Christmas , shocking. No we wouldn’t wish that on you Marc just to get our next win. I keep thinking the law of averages says we have to win a game sooner or later but we can’t keep things tight at the back and while we keep gifting teams goals we are never going to win one as we seldom score more than one goal a game.

Chair going off didn’t help us, watched Dozell enough now to see he is a lightweight player. Every time he is used he doesn’t do enough, so the alarm bells rang as soon as he came on. Conceding the goal on half time like was schoolboy stuff again.
Let Gareth have a week with the team and put on our best performance against Rotherham. This game will give us an insight if we can fight away at someone as bad as us. If we lose this game easily, writing will be on the wall that we will probably show the same spirit against the other basement teams.
Our players seem to be made of glass , they are constantly injured .
So starting Monday it would be good if Rotherham travel to Swansea and get a beating, they get less recovery time than us also, hopefully that counts for something.
Next weekend all the bottom teams below us are at home when we travel to Rotherham Wigan v Birmingham we need a brum win and draw. Cardiff v Bristol C Huddersfield v Coventry Blackpool v Burnley, we should be ok on this one.
Then the following Tuesday Wigan and Huddersfield play games in hand. West Brom v Wigan, Huddersfield v Bristol C
If we lose at Rotherham the gap may only be 4-5 points with 11 games to go …
I think it’s going to get rough but we just got to keep hoping the bottom ones lose or draw every week, them picking up points is not going to hurt us but three points do.
Keep your fingers crossed ….

Despite everything; staying up is very doable...Maybe just a win and a couple of draws

Well Mac a win and two draws may not be enough, 44 points this year and you may still drop. I think a Cardiff ,Huddersfield and Wigan have a bit of fight left in them, I feel we need 47 to be sure.
From game 17 in October, last 18 matches. Our form , LdLLLLWdLDDDLDLLLL
From the End of October have taken 9 points from 54 available at an average points per game of 0.5 points per game
With 12 games to go, keep that up and would give us 6 more points, 45 season end, not enough probably.
The form from the end of October is suggesting we might win say one more game and draw three.
The current form we have been on since Beale got interested in Rangers after the Birmingham loss would equate to us getting 23 POINTS IN A WHOLE SEASON.. Yes 23 points in a season form that’s what our team has become.
The current form this team is on is mind blowing.
So 2 wins and 2 draws to get us to 47 points may sound easy and it should be enough but it’s not as easy as the figures in front of us show what’s gone on.

How did we wind up with such a weak team?

How did we wind up with such a weak team? Loanees who downed tools when Daddy left them for the office secretary with the big fake....tan. Our only hope of staying in the Championship now is genuinely the fact that there may well actually be 3 teams who, in real life, are worse than us. And as hard to believe as that may seem, it might actually end up being the case. The teams below us look equally incapable of closing the gap on us. Rotherham away is a 6 pointer. Lose that and we can really start planning trips to Bristol Rovers and Oxford next term.

We need Rotherham to lose tonight for sure
We have four fixtures in 14 days in March
I feel we need minimum 4 points from these games, a win and a draw. If we get anything less I feel we will be getting really close to the bottom three putting more pressure on a team where half the players don’t seem to bothered.
Rotherham United v Queens Park Rangers QPR V Watford Blackpool V Queens Park Rangers Queens Park Rangers V Birmingham City
If we can pick up 4 points from these, putting us onto 43 points.
Then we need to pick up another 4-5 points from our last 8 games. I still feel 47-48 this year we will be fine.
One of these teams at the bottom I feel is going to get on a bit of a run though, that worries me. I’m concerned it will be Huddersfield or Wigan. That means we need Cardiff to keep failing, or even Birmingham and Rotherham.

Can't see us beating Rotherham based on that tonight. Ogbene is going to murder us.

|
|
Post by harr on Feb 28, 2023 8:22:34 GMT
Ogbene and our clueless defence is a worry. We have the fourth worst goal difference in the league and you can guess where the the other three are. Even more amazing considering we were top. There was talk Dickie was going to be worth 5 - 10 million a few months ago, would imagine 500k is more in line with performances of late.
Anyway next Tuesday the table look look clearer as everybody will have played the same 35 games with 11 left. Between that time Huddersfield have two home games, so we need to get something Saturday. As even if they win one of them it becomes 5 points from the relegation places if we lose.

Good win for Sheff U v Spurs and Grimsby beating Southampton
No Championship bottom of the table games will be affected on 18/3 weekend when Burnley,Blackburn and Sheff U play Q Finals as it’s Sheff Utd v West Brom and Blackburn v Burnley in the League that weekend.
