....and from London 24 ‘He’ll want a crack at it’ Redknapp gives verdict on next QPR boss 08:39 19 November 2015 Jack Green Former QPR and Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes Neil Warnock is set to be the club’s next permanent manager. Warnock took a role as first-team advisor last month when Chris Ramsey was the Rs manager and is now the interim boss after Ramsey was relieved of his duties. Warnock managed QPR for a two year spell from 2010 and guided the club to the Premier League, winning the Championship in his first full season at Loftus Road. The former Crystal Palace manager has previously ruled himself out of the running to take over on a permanent basis, with Nigel Pearson and Brendan Rodgers the favourites to take the reins. But Redknapp, who stepped down as QPR boss in February due to health issues, believes Warnock is keen to take the job on a permanent basis. “I would think Neil Warnock is in there,” Redknapp told TalkSPORT. “He might come out and say he’s not but he has taken Kevin Blackwell with him as his assistant. “I haven’t spoken to him, I’m only looking from the outside, but I think he’d like to do well there and have another crack at it. He has certainly done well in the past at QPR so I’m sure he’d love to give it another go.” Read more at: www.london24.com/sport/football/clubs/qpr/he_ll_want_a_crack_at_it_redknapp_gives_verdict_on_next_qpr_boss_1_4316787Copyright © LONDON24 I would be phenomenally surprised if Warnock doesn't want the job full time, regardless of what he says otherwise. I just think they ought to leave him in charge till the end of the season. I don't see what the rush is to appoint yet another new incumbent? All they'll do otherwise is rush in and appoint someone whose in for the culture shock of their lives when they take over this club and all the baggage and nonsense the comes with it. Warnock at least knows the stupidity at work behind the scenes and has put up with it before. You need a very bullish 'no-nonsense' style manager to even remotely do well here because of all the silliness that goes on at board level. I'd just rather they keep the devil they know because I don't trust these jokers to make any decent decisions about a new manager whatsoever.

I would imagine half the delaying tactics are to see if Warnock gets a win against Boro then they will offer it to him and he will probably accept even though he didnt want it. Sorry but I cannot agree with this. What " delaying tactics" are we seeing? To my mind it is better to take time to consider and appoint what we hope will be a good choice rather than make a knee jerk appointment that many will complain about later as being too quick and wrong. If we had seen someone appointed within a few days of Ramsey going I would be more worried that either things had been going on behind Ramsey's back for a while or that it was a panic appointment. If we think the choice will be decided by the result of the next game at M'bro we really are in a bad way. Might as well appoint a new manager every time we lose a game and only let him stay if we win the next one. We have someone in Warnock who is more than capable to manage the team for a few weeks until the choice is made so what is the rush. More haste less speed as they say.

I agree that I find it incredibly hard to believe that Warnock isn't gagging for the job, he's a wily fox. Or if not, some cosy position made up for him that sits above Ferdinand, or Ferdinand's job, which could be disruptive. I guess the otherside to that no-nonsense approach that he can bring as a positive is also a potential risk in terms of him pressuring to get his own way with transfers and so on. It's hard because I don't trust the board to make a decent decision either so Warnock is at least a good fall back position - knows the club, knows the madness. I just worry that he knows the madness a little too well so that he can put his feet firmly under the table, get comfortable and that may be at the expense of a decent longer term appointment. Knowing our luck, the board will appoint Paul Hart and I'll be crying out for Warnock again.

Pick a new manager? I wouldn't trust this lot to be able to pick their own noses.

You can make a good choice in a couple of days if the right candidate is available. You can have a month to chew things over whilst other managers move around and still make a poor choice. Taking 1 week or 1 month still doesnt guarantee at all you will end up with anyone better. Two games Boro and Leeds as we know thats the two games he is in charge of as a minimum. To be frank 57 they can hire who they like, Im beyond worry any more but hopefully they will make a good choice. The only two things I will stick with is Ramsey had to go once they changed the goalposts, we were going backwards. Also JFH would be another poor choice at this stage of his career, needs someone more experienced, better off with Pearson or Rogers imo or just stick with Warnock if he wants it or more to the point if he can work with LF

If we do not get Pearson or Hasselbaink. Then keep NW until the end of the season. As next summer, Green, Konchesky, Angella, Henry, Sandro, Fer, Phillips, Faurlin, Austin and a couple of others will be gone. that way we can actually give the new manager the time to build a squad and gets things heading in a better direction than the one we have taken for the last few years.

Lots of reports on Hasselbaink tonight. If after Ramsey we get another inexperienced manager I give up. I will have lost have lost every morsel of respect for our board and if we end up in League 1 or 2 they deserve the lot. Could not see a more stupid appointment out of 50 candidates and that would include getting Hughes and Redknapp back.

Pretty much agree
do they think being "Dutch" automatically instantly coaching/managing?
Now it's of course possible, he'd turn out ok. But on what basis currently is there to make that choice

Apparently every Dutch person is well skilled in the art of Total Football and can coach at a world cup winning standard. This started as far back as in 1974.

Personally I think Hasslebaink could do a good job for us. Done for Burton what Rowett and Clough could not do and got them promoted. no mean feat for a club as small as Burton.
And Don't like to disagree with you harr, but do not believe in the it was Rowetts team theory so he could not fail. He still has to get the players respect which by the looks of things he achieved. Also if that theory was true as a whole for football, would Moyes still not be at Man u after taking over a championship winning team?

I would love to see Holloway back at the club in some capacity - I far prefer him to Warnock.Holloway did such a good job last time under very difficult circumstances.

From the BBC before Friday night's game www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/34867198Neil Warnock: QPR boss expects two more games in chargeNeil Warnock expects to be in charge of Queens Park Rangers for two more games, BBC Radio London reports. The 66-year-old was placed in interim charge of the R's after Chris Ramsey was sacked on 4 November. He oversaw the 0-0 draw with Preston on 7 November and has brought in Kevin Blackwell to assist him at Loftus Road. Warnock, who was boss of QPR from March 2010 to January 2012, returned to the Championship club in an advisory role in October. QPR's next two matches are at Middlesbrough on Friday and home to Leeds next Saturday, suggesting an appointment before their trip to Reading on Thursday, 3 December. Former Leicester boss Nigel Pearson has been linked with a move to west London, while Burton Albion say they have not received an approach from the R's to speak to manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Under Warnock's leadership, QPR were promoted to the Premier League in 2011 as winners of the Championship, but he was sacked the following January with the club 17th in the top flight. He had been out of management since being dismissed by Crystal Palace in December 2014, after four months in charge. After joining QPR in an advisory capacity to Ramsey in October, Warnock said "full-time management doesn't interest me any more". Rangers are 13th in the Championship table, eight points off the play-off places.

I made this same comment earlier in the thread "out of the frying pan ...."
At least Ramsey had many years experience coaching players and had worked at PL clubs. JFH has no coaching track record, a very limited managerial record at a lower level, and from what I have seen over recent years seems to have an overinflated opinion of himself relying on some good playing days for his reputation. In some ways I find his attitude similar to Sherwood's.
This would be a massive gamble, especially putting him charge of a squad that still has many experienced players. Now is not the time to gamble.
The only positive from this appointment (if it happens) is that it will silence the campaign groups who incorrectly tried to link Ramsey's departure to the race issue. That is one thing that the club and current owners cannot be accused of and I am proud of them for being that way.

JFH is a cheap choice by Ferdinand and going down same route as Ramseys pathetic spell here, I can't see how he would inspire our better players at the club, same route. looking around way too many good skilled managers got new jobs, I'd go for Moyes all day long at this time of season..all the clubs got to do is pay him a decent wage...

Really doesn't matter who we get to be honest.
Whoever we get is virtually doomed to fail.

The situation is just like a transfer - it takes 2 to do a deal.
Why would a Moyes or Rodgers or Benitez or even a Pearson want to join us at the moment?. For a challenge? maybe For the money? if so is that the right reason and would that be a right move for the club, and how many would be crying "Mercenary" and "Lessons not Learnt" again.
We know if we want a top manager we have to pay for him but he has to want to come.
Its ok saying pay a good wage and we get a good manager but we know from experience that is not the case. So maybe we have to settle for someone with a lesser reputation who is also cheaper.
I think the real debate only comes if we are offering the job and being turned down because we will not pay the market rate.

I have little confidence in Fernandes.
Now if Hoos is making the appointment I'd have a lot more respect, hope.
What we don't want is Fernandes appointing, thinking we'll go up this season. And then after the usual bs, axe whoever we appoint

To me JFH at this time would be no different to getting Ramsey back again. Yes he did get Burton promoted last year and has started off this year but the fact is Rowetts team were two points off the top after 15 games when JFH took over and Rowett left for Birmingham. He continued with the basis and structure of a good team he inherited from Rowett. Rowett then went onto a bottom half table Birmingham got them to safety and beyond and this year into the playoffs. Which is remarkable under Birminghams financial constraints. Rather Rowett than JFH If JFH came to QPR, it wouldn't be the same sort of situation, we are in a relegation scrap, we need an experienced head not someone cutting his cloth.

Well on the basis the next manager has to be experienced. That leaves us with Pearson. Be more than happy with Pearson, baggage or not.
Still don't think Hasslebaink gets the credit he deserves for the work done at Burton. Strange how a manager at league 2 Burton in Rowett was deemed good enough by Brum, but a manager at league 1 Burton is not deemed good enough for QPR
