We are in this position due to short term thinking, papering over the cracks and knee-jerk reactions. I believe that we are finally taking a sensible approach to rebuilding our football club within a sustainable budget. It will take time. There will, initially at least, be more bad days than good because that is the mess that our previous approach put us in. What we all need is patience. With the team, with the management and with each other. All makes sense Roller but can we guarentee that appointing Ramsey after being relegated was the sensible approach and the best option with no Prem or Championship experience ? I really do understand your concerns harr. But there are mangers who are working now, who started off with no managerial experience and have done well. Mark Warburton and Garry Monk come to mind. But they started off at two clubs that are everything we are not and are trying to become, That's well run and organised with a clear plan and vision. If everyone tells you, you are crud and bound to fail, the usual outcome is you fail, as your confidence gets ripped apart, I am not deluded and think Ramsey will go on to be a great Premier league manager one day. But with the right support from club and fans, He could become a decent manager that helps us stabilise. As that is what we need, stability. Getting a new manager will bring with it more uncertainty. He will want his own backroom staff, his own squad or at least a big input into who we sign. Lets get behind the team on Saturday, and realise where we are, a club in need of first aid, not more trauma and upheaval.

As ever there are no guarantees mate, otherwise we'd not have been in the mire under the most experienced manager in the Premier League last season. Personally I have more faith in Ramsey and the "brave new world" than I ever had in Redknapp, but I respect your position. Not that this is my position, but it could make for an interesting discussion as to whether the budget was best spent on a manager or players. I certainly dont blame Ramsey for the poor planning once again of our defence. Out of his hands and should have been sorted earlier by LF to at least give him a good start. IMO the fact we are going to need to give this defence weeks to gel and play and play together has just heaped even more pressure on Ramsey as if we keep conceding and losing more disgruntled fans appear. Most of the players that we have bought seem good players, theres a couple I personally wouldnt have gone near but may turn out into decent squad players who knows. Now its a case of managing them and this bit will concern me until we get a couple of wins under our belts which hopefully will cone pretty soon. Cardiff at home will be a bench mark now. We always play well at home and I will be looking for three points. The Yeovil result would be a confidence boost if we got a win I guess.

I would agree with some points but if we needed stability was Ramsey the right Manager to lead us this season? I wont put any more comments down until after the Cardiff game .

Fantastic optimism before the game.
Fantastic support and noise by R's fans.
Great first 20 minutes or so, camped in the Charlton half - I thought it was a case of how many we'd win by.
But the first half fizzled out and the second half never got going for us.
Charlie wasn't at the races at all - don't think it was a lack of efforts, more a lack of fitness having started preseason late and missed friendlies. Think he was played to keep him the shop window, which kind of backfired... can't have done his valuation any good at all.
Philips was poor too... no way did he look a £10m player... does he think he's too good for the Championship? On this performance he simply wasn't good enough.
Chery and Luonga looked really promising though, Perch and Konchesky less so, but time will tell. Polter is a kind of big, lumbering unit but looked up for it. JET seemed a little awkward and gangly, but in fairness didn't have much time to show what he might do.
Great to see Mackie back. Couldn't believe how often he skinned their defenders when he looked like he'd lost the ball, only to battle for it back. 100% effort 100% of the time.
Disappointed Ramsey didn't make changes sooner.
Yeovil away... I think we need to win that convincingly to settle the nerves.

Well folks what did you expect? In my opinion the close season strategy has been geared up purely for bog standard championship football. Premiership aspirations do not even begin to enter into the equation.
We have signed rejects from Forest and Huddersfield. Players from Third tier clubs. Mediocre Premier League reserves and Europeans nobody has ever heard of. On top of that there is/will be the exit of nearly all of our "stars" Promotion with that scenario? Dream on.
The FFP cloud hanging over us has decreed that we can now only pay peanuts and as the saying goes if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. Yes sure we can consolidate in this division. Mid table here we come.
I was not at the Charlton game so others who were there will be far better qualified than me to comment on the performance. However it is a good bet that Charlton will finish deep into the bottom half of the league come the end of the season and to get beat by a team of that calibre is clearly not a good result.
