West Ham would be the most likely to take him off our hands if they come up

Don't like him and never have. That said I feel sorry for him. There is just something not right in there. It is clearly at the point where opposition teams are targeting him and officials assume that he is in the wrong (and he often is but not always). (How 2 Norwich players didn't get booked for their actions in that match at LR I'll never know. The same for Tevez and Barotelli in the City game). QPR cannot afford to play him under those circumstances. He doesn't bring enough to our midfield to balance the ledger. Joey's a colourful character but one we could do without.

West Ham would be the most likely to take him off our hands if they come up Only on a loan basis I would imagine and my guess is we would have to pay half his wages as well.

Yeah, I think the loan basis, with us stumping up most is the more probable scenario.
If Hughes is dead set on not playing Barton again though then that will be it for him. Hughes is not the kind of manager who will bow to Barton.
Hughes has a much bigger presence in the dressing room than Barton so there is only going to be one winner in that right.

I read on Sunday night that we were thinking of axing Barton. Can we pay up his contract enough to allow other teams to take him on, or will we loan him out? The FA should give him a season long ban in my opinion. What he did to Aguero was disgusting and nothing short of assault. I fear we may have to keep him out of the fact that no one else will be desperate enough or stupid enough to want him even if we gave him away. Paying up his contract would cost about £12m according to paper reports Think the best thing we can hope for is that the FA decided enough is enough and just ban him for life. That's what's left of hos contract. But not what we would pay if we were to try and get rid off him. We would negotiate to say pay him say 2 years of his contract and let him go on a free transfer. That way he can look for another club straight away and have about £8m lump sum to keep him happy. It might even be half his remaining contract depending on how good the club are at negotiating. He could of course turn it down. But it will get to the point where the club might think that if he turns down what they consider a reasonable offer and there is no real savings to the club that they will keep him. They'll probably leave him out of the 25 and stick him in the reserves and let him train with the youth team for the next 3 years.

I think we could continue to pay a portion of wages even if the signing is permanent so there is no need for the destination team to use up one of their allocation of loan signings. I seem to remember hearing that Leeds were still paying Robbie Fowlers wages way after he left.
But Leeds is another destination Joey can rule out after slagging Warnock off....JB is fast running out of friends and having done his thing in front of a worldwide audience there will be few people left who are not aware of what a knob he is.
I hear Timbuktu has a thriving league...

The dilemma now facing the club should be a lesson for our Mr Fernandes, in future he should always let the manager decide which players he wants.
Perhaps Barton can find his way to the Saudi league or some such, his twitter diarrhoea would be instantly cured for starters.
Mac, which bit of him do you feel sorry for bud?

I think the biggest lesson the owners of the club can from this season is how badly we got burnt by the Barton & Wright-Phillips signings & why you dont let certain people sign players etc etc.

Time for Change. I agree in so much we need to change the subject and not another bloody thread on Barton when there are already several others where you could have posted this.

Think it's best we leave the Barton subject until it is more clear how long his ban is and where the club stands in him.

If we can find some idiots to take him on then we can give him away for free. Well, sorry Rory but I think we are those sad idiots...myself included since I thought he was a great signing.

Another Day From the FA QPR Official Site BARTON / FA UPDATE Posted on: Tue 15 May 2012 The Football Association have tonight (Tuesday 15th May 2012) confirmed that the deadline for Joey Barton to respond to his charges has been extended to midday tomorrow (Wednesday) at the request of his representatives. The FA charged the Queens Park Rangers midfielder in relation to two acts of alleged violent conduct during Sunday's match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Following the player's dismissal in the 54th minute of the fixture, there followed two incidents involving Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany. As Barton had already been dismissed, both of these incidents fell outside of the jurisdiction of the referee. The Club will be making no further comment at this stage. www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2773762,00.html

Thought the PFA ALWAYS stuck with their man (The Player) even when ludicrously, obviously wrong. That's their job as the Union But not here apparently... GUARDIAN Sport Football Joey Barton Joey Barton deserves to be 'heavily sanctioned' admits PFA chief • Dismissed midfielder tried to get Man City player sent off • 'He's his own worst enemy' says Gordon Taylor of QPR captain Share 0 Email Jamie Jackson guardian.co.uk, Tuesday 15 May 2012 14.21 EDT Joey Bsrton is sent off by Mike Dean during QPR's 3-2 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday Joey Barton is sent off by Mike Dean during QPR's 3-2 defeat by Manchester City on Sunday. Photograph: Tom Jenkins for the Guardian Gordon Taylor, chief executive of the Professional Footballers' Association, has said Joey Barton deserves to be "heavily sanctioned" for admitting he attempted to get a Manchester City player sent off after receiving a red card for Queens Park Rangers at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Barton has been granted an extension until midday Wednesday to answer two charges of violent conduct by the Football Association over his kick at Sergio Agüero and attempt to butt Vincent Kompany before he was escorted from the field. Both those offences, which fell outside the jurisdiction of the referee, Mike Dean, would normally carry three-match bans, though there remains scope for the FA's regulatory panel to increase the sanction, especially in light of the player's post-match comments. As Barton automatically incurred a four-match ban for the initial red card being his second of the season, he is facing a minimum 10-game absence, which suggests his QPR future may be in doubt. After the game Barton admitted on Twitter that he tried "to take" one of the City players with him. Taylor said: "To say 'I wanted to take one of them with me', you think: 'Joey, if you come out with stuff like that, you are going to deserve to be heavily sanctioned.' He is his own worst enemy when he says stuff like that and he has been upsetting a lot of people in the game with good reputations. At the moment he is doing himself no favours." Taylor said he planned to meet QPR officials to discuss Barton's behaviour: "I will have to talk to Mark Hughes [the manager]. QPR were in touch with me before this happened so I'm expecting to have that meeting with Mike Rigg [player liaison officer] soon. It's general issues but I would imagine Joey would have been on the agenda even before Sunday. "Joey Barton's position is there for all to see. It's a difficulty and there has been counselling for him in the past which no doubt needs to be there in the future as well. But at the moment it's not helping him with his career or image in the game. "People ask us about his future but, regarding football, he is the biggest influence over it. He has spoken at different meetings we've had and speaks very well and for the most part is very convincing. At times, call it red mist or whatever, something happens that triggers off problems and you feel it's back to square one again." Taylor added: "Of course I'm concerned [about his future]. I don't want to see any of my members sent off. I don't want to see a member with his record. I have not been happy with some of the things that have been said by him or about him. It's really hard in the social media world but particularly bearing in mind it becomes public." Barton also branded Gary Lineker an "odious toad" and stated that he "despises" Alan Shearer. In response, Shearer said: "I have heard about it, yeah. Do you expect me to comment on that? The best thing is to say nothing on it. It doesn't deserve me to say anything on it." Regarding Lineker he said: "Ask Gary about that. I don't think I need to speak about him." www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/15/joey-barton-qpr-gordon-taylor?newsfeed=true

From todays The Times, article by Gary Jacob Yeah apparently he got in a very heated argument with Shaun Derry at HT during the WBA game. Other people may read this differently, but if you watch the footage of the sending off at Man City, there is a very thinly veiled look of disdain / contempt on Shaun Derry's face immediately after Barton gets his marching orders.

Whilst i think we should get shot of him as soon as we can i can't understand the calls for 10 or more games. Can't see how he can get a bigger ban than saurez did for admiting making racist comments to evra. Maybe they could argue saurez admitted it but he still refused to say what he done was wrong. To the same effect how many games do they give terry if found guilty in a court of law? bet its less than barton gets. Typical FA thinking better to be a racist than a c@#t in their books
