I asked you when you realized you didn't want him. You went on about his time at Sheff Ut. Maybe I misunderstood. If so apologies. Maybe you misunderstood me. oh, just read your comment again, think it was me that missunderstood you. sorry about that. to be honest, once we won the championship i wanted him to step down. i did except the fact that he probably deserved a couple of months in the prem and maybe i wanted him to prove me wrong but what i was seeing was the 2011 version of sheff utd season. and we all know what happened to them back in 2007.

Not going to lie, Barton and Orr's banter today has been quality.
I remember back when we beat Wolves, the banter between the players was brilliant and everyone seemed really happy and to me it's a good thing that it's come back.

Look I care about their banter. I'm not particularly interested in reading it (so I don't.) But Barton's tweeting has been a source of controversy/shame - call it what you want. And when Ian Taylor comments like he did today. Like he did yesterday with the retweet (see above), then it would be very hard to not believe the club not only tolerates his tweeting (as Hughes said), but almost endorsing it/encouraging people to look at them. Certainly it very easy to make that one's perception, whatever the realityis.
Anyway that's my take.

Why doesn't someone have the balls to tell him to stop the twitting, or just take his bl**dy phone away.
He's been giving some solid but still average performances without exactly earning his high wages on the pitch, but we do hear he gees everyone up when training which a Captain should be doing.
It's the nonsense he does on the phone that's got our backs up that gives us cause for complaint, all players must have a spin on the NW period but we don't hear or know about it, they keep their opinions tthemselves.

I am not on twiter & don't think I would ever want to be.
However, it is a very acceptable & popular medium. If anyone wants to read Barton's tweets (or any other person's for that matter) they should feel free to do so. If they don't like what they have seen surely they can raise that with the tweeter rather than complain about it on other forums.
As far as should Barton have kept his AA attendance private, this must be up to the individual. Telling people that your a member is not a betrayal of confidence. If he was to state that A.N. Other was an atendee that would be totally unaceptable.

Also loved his paddy kenny pictures (random overweight people he found pictures of) around that time as well. And the high-chair pic with the swp sign on it. I laughed pretty hard at those. Spirits are definetly up, amazing what 3 points can do.

On the opta stats he covered more ground than other player on the pitch 5.65 miles There was those 3 passes he did, almost in a row, where they were weighted slightly too heavy but they are the most difficult anyway arent they as they arent to anybodies feet but for players to run on to towards the bye line. If they had have come off........... If Usain Bolt was playing on the wing he might have got to 1 of them

London 24/Ian Cooper
Why QPR manager must take action over Barton’s TweetingMonday, January 23, 2012 Hughes has a decision to make after controversial captain’s latest online outburst Once again on Saturday Mark Hughes was asked whether he was concerned by Joey Barton’s recent activities on Twitter, and once again the QPR manager insisted that he was not. He should be, because Barton’s embarrassing and ill-judged cyber-feud with his former manager Neil Warnock threatens to have extensive ramifications. As well as providing an unwelcome distraction from matters on the pitch, it threatens to alienate the Rangers captain from the club’s fan-base. Twitter is becoming an ever-more intense headache for Premier League managers, with players increasingly turning to the social networking site to exhort on fellow players, officials or fans. Such has been the impact of Twitter this season that several managers have resorted to disciplinary action against players who use the site. Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cotterill banned his players from accessing it altogether. Those who do will face a hefty £1,000 fine for every word they write. Similarly, last July, fellow Championship side Leeds United banned their players from using Twitter after striker Davide Somma announced that he was injured before the club were even informed. Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere, and even QPR’s own Danny Gabbidon, while at West Ham, have all landed themselves in hot water for their ill-judged 140-character remarks. It is hardly surprising that players turn to Twitter, rather than speak to journalists, to share their grievances or vent their frustrations, safe in the knowledge that their words will not be misconstrued. But the problem facing all managers, and increasingly Hughes at QPR, is to decide at what stage the consequences of a player’s use of Twitter directly affects the image of the club. That is where Barton comes in, a player who while at Newcastle used Twitter to berate the club’s transfer policy. His employers reacted in ruthless fashion by making the midfielder available on a free transfer, which, of course, ended with him making the journey south to Loftus Road. Unperturbed, Barton began his Rangers career in similar fashion. After the 3-0 win at Molineux in September, Barton took to Twitter to label Wolves midfielder Karl Henry ‘embarrassing’, after the two players had clashed on the Molineux pitch. Twitter has long since become Barton’s favourite medium for putting the world to rights, but his unsavoury spat with Warnock last week represents the moment at which Hughes must take action. Barton’s comments, comparing Warnock to the fictional football manager Mike Bassett, were in response to Warnock’s suggestion that someone from inside the club played a role in his sacking as Rangers manager. One could suggest that Barton was entirely entitled to respond to what he perceived a personal attack by Warnock. He defended himself just as he would on television, radio, or in a newspaper. But that would be to ignore the impact of his comments, which were met by stinging criticism from a large section of fans. The smattering of boos that greeted Barton’s name when Saturday’s teams were read out, suggest that his words have actively damaged his relationship with some sections of supporters. The prospect of the fans at odds with the club captain is one which Hughes cannot afford to entertain. The freedom of speech which Twitter affords players is undoubtedly useful in breaking down the barriers between clubs and supporters. Indeed, few ‘Tweet’ more than QPR owner Tony Fernandes, who believes in transparency of a club’s action and welcomes the ideas and opinions of supporters. However, used irresponsibly it can also damage that bond. Where, in a press conference or in post-match interviews the club employ press officers to oversee proceedings, clearly there can be no such policing of Twitter. It is a can of worms the Football Association will not go anywhere near. Banning Barton from using Twitter is not the answer. But a reminder to him of the responsibilities which come with the role of captain is certainly in order. Hughes insists that he will not speak to Barton regarding his use of Twitter until they impact on matters on the field. “If ever I felt it was going to compromise us we’d have a conversation,” he said. However, as the reaction from the stands to Barton on Saturday suggested, that moment appears to have arrived, and Hughes must take action before the gap between player and fans widens. I find sweeping generalisations of this board or indeed our fanbase very irritating. Just thought I'd mention that, in fact, I would have twatted it if I used twatter but I don't.
There was a very mixed reaction to Barton in X block on Saturday and some lively discussion down the pub.
This is my main issue, it's not whether Barton is right or wrong in what he does on twitter, it's the devisive affect (Joey, take note, affect and effect have different meanings) itis having on the fanbase.
Ultimately of course, he's here and Colin isn't so the line should be drawn under that one.
As for Hughes condoning Barton's use of twatter, in his first interview he said Joey is fully aware that what takes place in the dressing room stays in the dressing room. That was a pretty clear comment to Barton to keep anything inside firmly off of twatter so I don't see why journalists want to rake it up or give Hughes advice on how he should deal with it.
I am personally sick to the back teeth of the poxy medium but it's clear to me that loads of footballers love to use it. It's most likely because they are now so well paid and so closetted in their lives they do not socialise in any normal format so it's a means of safe communication.
I watched ESPN's Live Talk on the Terraces at the weekend and across the bottom of the screen scrolled numerous players tweets, it actually stopped me listening and watching what they were actually all talking about so I turned over.
i agree fully with Terry's comment on the particular medium.
If he's light hearted banter, chat etc then all good but when it gets nasty, personal and vindictive then it's clearly not good at all.

QPR Official Site
JOEY: 'NEW LEASE OF LIFE'Posted on: Wed 25 Jan 2012 R's skipper Joey Barton has hailed fellow team-mates Akos Buzsaky and Tommy Smith for taking their opportunities under new QPR boss Mark Hughes. Buzsaky and Smith both scored stunning goals in Saturday's 3-1 victory against Wigan Athletic at Loftus Road and Barton believes both players are reaping the benefits of being given a 'new lease of life' under the new gaffer." Tommy and Akos didn't always play under the old regime, but they've been given a new lease of life and good on them for taking it," he told www.qpr.co.uk. "Akos's was a great strike from a deal-ball and Tommy's was just an absolute wonder-goal. "I was fortunate enough to be behind it as it flew towards goal and it was a top, top quality strike. "It's great for them as individuals and we're reaping the benefits as a team." Barton has been hugely impressed by Hughes and co. since their arrival in W12, with the R's players already buying in to the new methods and techniques being introduced by the new backroom team."They've got their own way of doing things," he said.
"It's certainly a lot different to those things I've been used to in my short time at the Club.
"There's obviously a different ways of doing things, and the lads are already really embracing the new methods."Rangers welcome West London rivals Chelsea to Loftus Road on Saturday in the FA Cup fourth round and Barton is calling on his team-mates to keep building on the win against Wigan last weekend. "We've got a big FA Cup tie coming up this weekend and we'll be looking to crank it up another level," he said, "This is only the start. We can get a lot, lot better. " The more days we have with the new gaffer, the more we'll improve and have more days like last Saturday." www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2586272,00.html?

Amazing that the whole Twitter thing is still being discussed.
We all knew what to expect when Joey signed.
If NW had a problem with that he could have stamped on it (Though it might have not been to easy given the owners also like to use it.)
I actually enjoy reading Joey's Tweets, he comes acroos as a reasonably intelligent guy.

Its Reading not the Fake Hoops ;D Doing something good for a change. Joey Barton backs Mirror's We Love Reading campaign Published 21:58 25/01/12 By Martin Fricker . He is often in the referee’s book, now bad-boy footballer Joey Barton is helping kids learn to love books. The QPR skipper is appearing on film reading his favourite children’s stories, including The Witches by Roald Dahl. It is part of the Premier League Reading Stars campaign run by the National Literacy Trust. And it’s the first time the scheme has gone online. The Duchess of Cornwall will officially launch the programme at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in North London. Barton tweeting today (Thursday)
Joey7Barton Joseph Barton
Just received my weekly warning letter from FA headquarters, this time regarding me tweeting about predicting the weekends Manchester double
According to the FA, I am not allowed to give my opinion of possible results in case that is seen as insider information. These people are
So out of touch with reality its untrue. What difference does my opinion of the outcome of a match, have on the result? None. #rightinthebin
I'll prob get a letter about the last few tweets. Thats how ridiculous its become.Drastic shake up needed to move the game into 21st century
Hopefully they stop trying to be an Orwellian organisation and get to grips with the change that's happening in the world around them.
