Boothroyd and SWP both hit the post and did exactly what the manager asked of them. Except the only thing in the art of kicking a round ball and the whole object of doing so that gains any outcome, and thats put it in the net.

I can't understand this fascination with both of them 'hitting' (slightly grazing) the woodwork either.
And did the manager ask SWP to do exactly nothing?
I (kind of) like SWP. At least I'm trying to. And sometimes he's freakin' good. But he wasn't on Sunday. There's nothing more to say.

What is this about liking or disliking a player ?
I dislike Stan Bowles as a person, but wouldnt doubt his footballing ability or standing at our club.
I dont get the impression that Shaun Wright-Phillips is a nasty piece of work, infact I get the impression the contrary is likely to be true, but I just dont think he can play football.

Perhaps, you'll be shocked but I like him as a player. Sometimes. I do. Very much. Eg, at home vs Newcastle, Wolves, and some other matches.

Shaun Wright-Phillips cross completion rate this season has been 20%
That means that on only 2 out of 10 attempts has he been able to find a teammate from a wide midfield position.
Never mind not good enough, lets face up to the facts, this is p!ss poor.

A "good" cross from Shaun Wright-Phillips is one that doesnt even beat the first man, most are worse than that.

Yes, but what counts as a completed cross?

Yes, but what counts as a completed cross? In Shaun Wright-Phillips case I would say it would be one that somehow miraculously beats the first man & a teammate somehow manages to stretch for it & poke it / head it wide. I think that is about as good as it gets with this player, unfortunately

When was that ? I missed it I'm hypothesising in suggesting that the latest research from Nobel prize winning Physicists have suggested that a Shaun Wright-Phillips cross could theoretically accidently hit one of his own teammates, I've yet to see the latest research for myself, but apparently this is what they are suggesting, its a truly mindblowing hypothesis I know but many of the world's greatest Physicists have been working on it apparently.

Pigs will fly before SWP gets a cross on a strikers head.

Not that I'm necessarily defending SWP, but have you ever noticed how many players actually get into the box for most of our attacks?
Most times our wideman is the furthest forward and has to hold the ball up whilst our "attacking" players decide whether or not they'd like to go into the box or carry on strolling aimlessly in no mans land whilst the defenders get back and outnumber us.
Not saying Wright-Phillips is great but a lot of times Beckham would have trouble picking out a team mate in the opposition box if he was playing for us!

Sorry guys, but this miserable old git is really tired of statistics, percentages and so on. Doesn't mean a thing in my opinion.

It used to be like that under Warnock but on Sunday we had 3 or 4 in the box sometimes.

SWP is another player I kind of like...Ditto Bothroyd...I mean they are all obviously falling short, which of course is a failing..But I don't have any strong feeling about any of them (Except of course Vine, Borrowdale, Dyer, etc)

Shaun Wright-Phillips is so bad, he's set up just as many goals for opposition teams this season as he has for his own team.
The winger on £50 grand a week that has set up as many goals for the opposition as he has for his own team, as The Daily Mails says, you couldnt make it up!

Think you're underestimating him. Sure he has flaws (and I look forward to our new coaching team strengthening this), but I think he's a lot better/has lot more potential than being suggested.

Henry Winter @henrywinter Henry Winter On this evidence, Luke Chadwick has more chance of going to the Euros than Shaun Wright-Phillips. #mkdons better. #qpr need to wake up

i reckon SWP is an asset on his day, but he struggled tonight.
HH and Tommy Smith seemed the most comfortable on the ball, and Ferdinand put in some effort, but overall I'd say we were dreadful. the whole stadium and the whole team seemed deflated.
We really missed Faurlin ... and Taarbs. maybe Barton can lift things a bit on Saturday. I think wevshould start both Helguson and Smith. Let Bothroyd spend a bit of time on the bench.
