I never called you a JCL mate .To be honest before it was explained to Rory I didnt have a clue what JCL meant. We dont have JCL's do we.I thought all the JCL's end up at that lot down the road.

happens mate. everyone will be talking about that assist to dj from adel that dj spectacularly screwed up long after both are gone. Nah Mike ,No one even mentions the word 'assist' unless they are talking about their fantasy football team.If they do things have changed drastically since Ive been home. Please dont tell me you call good crosses 'assists'' even if they aint scored from. You'll be saying Penalty shot next and Overtime .. And SOCCER I think the JCL accusation was inferred from this post. As Oz hoop has clarified, he did not intend for this post to be taken that way. We have no bananas.

"Assist" is a perfectly good word although it is normally used in the context of discussing player statistics rather than actual goals. How else would you describe a "contribution that sets up a goal", which is clearly a valuable contribution that can take many forms and deserves to have an associated statistic? Try ball, pass or cross.

Anyone had any luck finding SWP's career statistics yet ?
Its the "assists" column I'm most interested in.

Reckon we will see Hughes get the best out of SWP now. Agree, I did not know that MH signed him for Man City. SWP must be pleased to see Hughes in charge. Let's hope we start to see the best SWP.

I was chuffed when a player of the calibre of SWP signed in the summer. After all he was in the 2010 world cup squad. I hope the Rangers supporters continue to get behind him as he is a player that has great potential and has not stopped giving 100% if short of confidence.

Alright that's it, no more negativity from me.
I've got it all off my chest ( for the time being ) & am going to get behind the new manager & all of the players 100% from now on.

If hughes plays him on the right you will see a different player
as much as i loved colin he mis managed swp by playing him out of position
why buy a right winger and play him on the left just to accomadate mackie when swp is a better player
just my thoughts

Fully agree. SWP was fantastic for us the first couple of games (Newcastle, Wolves) and then was moved more centrally. He will improve under MH

Good point. SWP often played out of position but i cant help think that wont make any difference to his final end ball or his shooting. As my Chelsea pals (phrase only) say he looks all dressed up with nowhere to go and they said that if given a long run in the team he would give us no more than 3 or 4 assists in a season and they are probably right. Also still waiting for his first one on one with the keeper as they said its unbelievably hilarious......lets wait for that!!

Makes no difference where the headless chicken is played, he will show the same type of performance where-ever.

Blinding .Another thread for SWP.The last one went on for 5 pages Over to you KLR. For my 2p,s worth.I recon SWP will improve because he will now be played where he's played for scum , Man City and England.

One thing for sure, if he doesn't improve under Hughes then i'm afraid he never is going to.

I'm sorry, but he is a frighteningly bad player. He cannot score, He cannot create goals, he appears to have no idea whatsoever on how to actually play football. If we want to stay in this league, we need players who can score & create goals, we will get relegated with players like Shaun Wright-Phillips in our team. The lack of technical ability is truly frightening, how did a player that limited "make it" in the first place ? Only in England

SWP had so much space in that game to run at the NUFC defence but he just did nothing with it.
Bothroyd had his best game for us but is still not good enough.
Roll on the spending spree!!!

superb display today, away from home against a high flying newcastle, 15 shots on goal compared with 8 from newcastle.
defence were solid, swp and bothroyd had good games. i think our priority in the transfer market needs to be midfield as derry was once more found wanting in the first half and was non existant in the second. mackie was galloping round like a horse not dong much else and buzz .............. few passes but little else.
we also need an established striker and there is not much point having a brazilian kid with little experiance.
tactics were spot on from hughes, just need to bring in a little class in the middle and up top.

I always scratched my head in amazement when NW played SWP through the middle or on the left or anywhre else except wide right where is can be very effective, yet today our new manager did exactly what NW had done with him, i just cannot understand why.
