QPR are planning a pre-deadline attempt to capture Carlos Tevez. Manchester City want to sell the Argentine but a proposed move to AC Milan has failed to materialise, and interest from Inter Milan and French club Paris St-Germain also came to nothing. Tevez, who played under R’s boss Mark Hughes at City and has the same agent as the Welshman, strongly favours a move to Italy. Hughes would love to sign Tevez. Hughes says he has very little chance of being reunited with the 27-year-old. But with Tevez’s future still unresolved, there is likely to be an approach from Rangers. City have insisted they are not interested in a loan deal for Tevez, who is involved in an acrimonious dispute with the Premier League leaders and has refused to return from South America. But with the end of the transfer window looming, Hughes will look to capitalise on the situation by trying to persuade his former club that their title challenge would be helped by Tevez ending the season in west London. “It is unlikely to be perfectly honest, as much as I would like it to happen,” he said. “If he did go he could play against teams and could possibly help Man City win the league. That’s the only thing you’d think they’d be attracted by.” Hughes has hinted there will be no deadline-day effort to prise Chris Samba away from Blackburn. Rangers have had previous approaches for Samba rejected and are keen to play down the prospect of a last-ditch effort to convince Rovers to sell the centre-back, who has made it clear he wants to leave. But there may well be a follow-up bid for Hugo Rodallega. Wigan have indicated that they are willing to sell the Colombian forward, whose contract expires in the summer. Fulham have also expressed an interest in him. Hughes is keen to sign at least one forward and will speak to Djibril Cissé, whose move from Lazio has been agreed in principle. The former Liverpool man wants to return to England and although Hughes initially doubted he would be able to sign him, a deal is now close. Sébastien Bassong and Steven Pienaar are desperate to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Queens Park Rangers before the winter transfer window closes but they face a nervous wait to see whether Spurs' chairman, Daniel Levy, finds the sums on offer acceptable. Bassong has made no secret of his frustrations at White Hart Lane, saying at the end of last season that his fall from favour was akin to a journey from "heaven to hell", and he thought that he had completed a move to Rangers on the final day of the summer window. The centre-half had signed the contract at Loftus Road but, agonisingly for him, Tottenham's counter-signature did not follow, after they missed out on Gary Cahill, who was then at Bolton Wanderers. The Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp, said he felt sorry for Bassong. Rangers changed their manager earlier this month, Mark Hughes replacing Neil Warnock, but their desire to take Bassong has endured. The biggest obstacle has been agreeing the fee as Levy, who is synonymous with notoriously hard bargains, is eager to recoup, at least, the £8m he paid Newcastle United for Bassong in the summer of 2009. Bassong felt his latest kick in the teeth on Friday night, when he was an unused substitute at Watford in the 1-0 FA Cup win while Pienaar, who came on in the 80th minute, was also disappointed, having hoped to start. The South Africa midfielder's transfer to Tottenham from Everton last January for £3m has turned into a disaster; he has tasted only 14 minutes of Premier League action this season and, having faded from view, he has also begun to fear for his international place. Rangers have made their interest in him known anda joint deal for him and Bassong has been proposed. Levy signed Pienaar for a cut-price £3m, because he only had six months to run on his Everton contract but the player was able to secure a £70,000-a-week deal at White Hart Lane, making him one of the club's top earners. Levy is keen to reduce his wage bill. Rangers have the scope to offer big salaries and they are expected to be one of the major players on deadline day, as Hughes seeks the injection of quality that he hopes will see the club stave off relegation. The Fulham striker Bobby Zamora, whom he managed at Craven Cottage, is among his targets. Tottenham have a clutch of unhappy players, with Heurelho Gomes, Vedran Corluka, Danny Rose, Niko Kranjcar, Giovani dos Santos and Roman Pavlyuchenko also determined to play more football, whether on loan or on a permanent basis at another club. Levy has plenty of saleable assets and he could raise a sizeable kitty for Redknapp, who would love to spend it on a marque signing. The Liverpool striker Andy Carroll remains prominent on his wish-list; Redknapp moved for him last January, only for him to swap Newcastle United for Anfield. Carroll has struggled at Liverpool and Redknapp would relish the opportunity to work with him. His current centre-forward, Emmanuel Adebayor, is on a season's loan from Manchester City and the deal is not expected to be made permanent due to the Togolese's £170,000-a-week wage, to which City contribute heavily. Tottenham might try on deadline day but they are more likely to make eye-catching signings in the summer. www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jan/30/sebastien-bassong-steven-pienaar-tottenham-qpr?CMP=twt_gu

Samba out in the cold as Rovers captain hopes for Ewood exit By SPORTSMAIL REPORTER Last updated at 10:30 PM on 30th January 2012 Comments (0) Share Chris Samba trained on his own once again at Blackburn on Monday still hopeful that Galatasaray, QPR or Tottenham will make a deadline day move to sign him. Blackburn insist their unsettled captain, who has trained apart from the first-team squad for the past two-and-a-half weeks, is not for sale. However, they may be tempted by a late offer in excess of £10million after Samba underlined his determination to leave Ewood Park. Ah well, never thought I'd hear that decent players were desperate to come to QPR! Then check out this news article from Nigeria: QPR finally dumps Victor Moses THE dream of Wigan Athletic striker and Nigerian international, Victor Moses joining Queen Park Rangers has ended up in mirage following the decision of the English Premiership side to make a sudden retreat from signing him during the January window transfer which ends today. Tribunesports reliably scooped that the young lad has been looking forward to signing for QPR this transfer window but was given the shock of his life when the management of the club made a u-turn . As a result of this, the Wigan Athletic player will have to wait till the summer transfer window before he can start thinking of realising his dream of playing for QPR . New Rangers boss, Mark Hughes had hoped to sign the striker to complete the trio of Nigerian stars namely Taye Taiwo, Nedum Onuoha and Moses for the club. Moses is yet to agree a new deal at Wigan and plans to consider his options this summer. ''QPR had ealier plan to table a January bid for the player but decided against it and wait till the end of the season before making any move. Therefore, the player will have to wait till the summer time before he can actualise his dream of playing for his dream club'', stated club management. tribune.com.ng/index.php/sports/35175-qpr-finally-dumps-victor-moses-as-transfer-window-ends-todayI think it loses a lot in translation, but made me smile with its turn of phrase.

All eyes will be on Tevez. highly unlikely, but it makes great sense for Man City. They don't want him, we want to stay in the league, help pay for his wages and hopefully take points off of their competitors. its a win-win, but won't happen.

Hughes: Loan me Tevez and we'll make you champions Published 22:31 30/01/12 By Mike Walters Recommend Mark Hughes has offered to take Carlos Tevez off his former club Manchester City's hands - and help them win the title. QPR boss Hughes admitted it was "probably wishful thinking" that he could bring the work-to-rule Argentine's firepower to Loftus Road. Hughes brought the best out of Tevez - nine goals in 20 games - when the pair worked together at City. Now, the Rangers manager has admitted: "I would take him every day of the week. But much as I would love to think it could happen, I'd be very surprised. "The only thing which might attract City is loaning him out to someone like us, who are not their biggest rivals for the Premier League, and [would] help them to win the title by taking points off their main challengers. "It's a nice thought, but it's probably wishful thinking that he could end up on loan here. But you never know." * HUGHES is also set to make one final bid to sign Christopher Samba before Tuesday night's deadline. Defiant Blackburn are set to hold out for a whopping £12million for their 27-year-old skipper. But Rangers believe they can reach a compromise to suit both parties. www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Manchester-City-transfer-gossip-Loan-Carlos-Tevez-to-QPR-and-we-will-make-you-champions-jokes-Mark-Hughes-article859486.html

Sorry, sort of changing topic again, but i witnessed cisse for 2 whole seasons at Panathinaikos and the system they played is very similiar to the Hughes 442 system. We had a tall strong striking partner, i.e. helguson, who would win the long balls and header the ball into a position were Cisse was able to run on it and run at the defence. this was his biggest strength. he would usually ease past defences and when infront of goal many of his shots were on target. his problem at lazio is only his pace is being utilized on the wing, they havnt enhanced his full capabilities of running at defences. his shots are also off target because he is more than likely cutting in from the wing. Look at swp, is he ever on target? Cisse's goals were mostly powerful shots outside of the box or sprinting through defences and rounding the keeper. He needed to be infront of goal, as the most advanced forward, not a winger. he also has a good arial ability. i think partner him with HH and that will be a tactically strong attack. HH has pinpoint heading so if he can play the ball in the right places for Cisse then he can be VERY dangerous. Each time he had the ball for Pana we all sensed a goal, and it almost came every time. Hes not afraid to shoot and get in behind defences. Now has anyone seen this from Bothroyd? i think not...
