England U21 , how good is he , havnt seen much of him if honest? .West Ham braced for 3m Tomkins raid . QPR are lining up a 3million raid on West Ham for James Tomkins. The former England Under-21 defender Tomkins has impressed in the Championship follows Hammers' relegation, and Hoops boss Neil Warnock will test the East Enders' resolve with a bid in the New Year. Warnock is keen to buy young British defenders and has been promised substantial funds by chairman Tony Fernandes when the transfer window opens. However, West Ham bos Sam Allardyce has become a huge admirer of Tomkins since taking charge at Upton Park, and is keen to offer him an improved contract. www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/West-Ham-transfer-gossip-QPR-plan-move-for-James-Tomkins-in-January-article831677.html

No idea Harls, if he walked in here now I wouldn't recognize him.
Mind you, if he was playing when Mancienne was I wouldn't have noticed him.

Why is this so out of the question?? Is definitely a possible transfer under Tony and Amit. I told my mate who is an avid West Ham fan and he reckons they won't be promoted without him.

Queens Park Rangers ready to strike with £2m raid for in-form Fulham forward Andrew Johnson Queens Park Rangers are planning a £2 million bid for Fulham striker Andrew Johnson as they fight to preserve their Premier League status. QPR ready to strike with £2m raid for in-form goalscorer Andrew J Johnson’s deal at Craven Cottage runs out at the end of the season and he has so far failed to agree terms on a new contract, having wanted more than the one-year extension on offer. Fulham do not want the 30-year-old striker to leave for free and, although they do not want to lose him in the January window, it may be that he is sold so that a fee can be recouped. Despite signing the likes of Jay Bothroyd and the injured DJ Campbell, QPR are desperate to add a proven Premier League goalscorer to their squad. New chairman Tony Fernandes will make more cash available to manager Neil Warnock, who may also try to revive a deal for Tottenham central defender Sebastien Bassong. A deadline-day deal to sign Bassong collapsed, even though he is understood to have signed his part of the paperwork, because Spurs failed in their efforts to sign Gary Cahill from Bolton. It’s possible that QPR might also renew their interest in Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha. Johnson is believed to be asking for a salary of £2million-a-year and QPR are understood to be willing to meet his demands. The dilemma for Fulham, given their own difficult position in the league, is whether they are willing for him to leave and strengthen a potential relegation rival. Johnson has battled back from serious injury and has been in fine form this season for Fulham, scoring eight goals in as many games, but he regards the next contract he signs as his last big career opportunity www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/queens-park-rangers/8897624/Queens-Park-Rangers-ready-to-strike-with-2m-raid-for-in-form-Fulham-forward-Andrew-Johnson.html

Fulham slap £15m price tag on star striker's head Published 22:55 19/11/11 By Dean Jones
Fulham are slapping a massive £15million price-tag on Bobby Zamora’s head.
The club fear he is going to look for a move away from Craven Cottage this winter and QPR are very keen to sign him.
Hoops boss Neil Warnock will sign a big name striker in January and Zamora is a top target, along with Chelsea’s Nicolas Anelka.
Zamora made his full international debut for England in midweek and is contracted to Fulham until 2014.

Fulham enter race for Newcastle defender Published 22:55 19/11/11 By MirrorFootball
Danny Simpson looks set to turn down Newcastle’s new contract offer – paving the way for a move, with Fulham the latest side to show an interest.
The right-back still has 18 months of his deal to run but the five-year offer on the table means he would remain as one of the club’s lowest earners.
Both West Ham and QPR are also monitoring the situation but Fulham have now entered the race after Zdenek Grygera’s knee injury.

£10 miil bid for Defoe? www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2064688/QPR-lining-10m-swoop-Jermain-Defoe.htmlQPR lining up £10m swoop for out-of-favour Spurs striker DefoeBy Soriebah Kajue Last updated at 3:36 PM on 22nd November 2011 Neil Warnock is preparing to blow the majority of his £15 million January transfer budget on landing Jermain Defoe from Tottenham, as revealed by Sportsmail earlier this month. Spurs have made it clear they will refuse any bids of less than £10 million for the 29-year-old striker, who still has more than three years left on his deal. But the Hoops boss has identified the out-of-favour striker as his No 1 target and believes the player can add extra thrust to their attack. And Rangers supremo Tony Fernandes is ready to sanction the acquisition of one marquee signing in January. DJ Campbell and Jay Bothroyd have so far failed to provide a consistent cutting edge to the free flowing football of the newly-promoted side. Heidar Helguson has accepted the goalscoring challenge of late but Warnock wants a seasoned Premier League marksman to maintain their momentum in the second half of the term. Defoe, however, is still regarded as a supreme finisher, but the former West Ham starlet has struggled for goals over the last 18 months in Harry Redknapp’s new-look lone striker formation. This was illustrated by his meagre return of just four Premier League goals last season, as the combination of Peter Crouch and Rafa van der Vaart became the preferred pairing. Crouch has since been replaced by Manchester City’s on-loan Emmanuel Adebayor at the apex of the Tottenham attack. Out of favour: Defoe has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs in recent seasons Yet the frustration at the lack of regular football has continued for Defoe who has again failed to feature consistently this term and was a 69th minute substitute in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Monday night. The silver tongued Warnock will hope to convince the England striker his future lies in west London and believes the carrot of regular football could prove crucial. Defoe’s close friend Shaun Wright-Phillips has rediscovered his top form since his move to Loftus Road and with Euro 2012 on the horizon, the England striker will want to give himself every chance of making Fabio Capello’s squad. Defoe is a great player, but spending £10 million on a 29 year old striker does not make sense for us.

If £10m is what they want I would rather go for Hooper. He would cost about £4m less and is only 23.

So we`re getting both Fulham and spurs` front lines, thats Johnson-Zamora and Defoe-Pav according to the papers. Talk about hedging your bets.

OK so we have say 15 million to spend max. We are going to get 4 or 5 players . Whats the best value for money? Mixing maybe youth and experience or just experience? Name the ones you might want or we might end up with?

Don't forget we might get money from selling Taarabt so I guess that will be added onto the £15m budget.
If we have more than £15m then -
Defoe - £10m Tomkins - £6m Bertrand - loan Two youth players from Asia.
If it's exactly £15m then -
Hooper - £7m Bassong - £3m Onouha - £3.5m Two players from Asia either free or very cheap.

I think so Rory , think he will end up in one of the top 6-7 teams like Cahill , hopefully they will both go in Jan and make Bolton and Blackburn weaker!
I think it is going to be a busy window in January for us , Neil must be loving the fact he gets 31 days this time instead of about 10 days . Added to the fact he probably would not have bought two players or more than that , if he knew Tony was coming on board.
Would, Perone , Shittu , Dyer been bought doubtful I suppose Dyer might have still been bought as he was sort of pay as you play?

Tomkins is not for sale, says West Ham co-owner By talkSPORT
West Ham will turn down any approach from QPR for talented defender James Tomkins when the transfer window re-opens in January. Tomkins has been strongly linked with a £3m move to the west London club following his superb displays for the Championship side this season. QPR boss Neil Warnock is ready to bring in a number of new players in January and wants to bolster his defence. Tomkins has played a major role in helping West Ham cement their position in the top two in the Championship and has attracted interest from Warnock in recent weeks. But West Ham co-owner David Gold is adamant that Tomkins is staying at Upton Park and they are determined to keep their best players as they look to bounce straight back into the top flight. Gold said: "He's not for sale for £3m. Nobody is up for sale. "There is no plan to sell our good young players. We must do all we can to keep our best players. Our goal is promotion."
