..QPR instruct third-party agents to find Adel Taarabt a new club Napoli have emerged as the front runners in the race for Adel Taarabt, after Queens Park Rangers instructed third-party agents to find the forward a new club. Manager Neil Warnock sanctioned the decision this week, after finally growing tired of the mercurial Moroccan's lack of professionalism, which has seen him fined on a handful of occasions this season. Warnock has had to punish the 22-year-old for incidents such as walking out of QPR's 1-0 win over Chelsea in October after being substituted at half time, while he has also been frustrated by Taarabt's open desire to find a new club. That almost happened in the summer, but the R's eventually pulled the plug on a protracted transfer saga with Paris Saint-Germain, after they refused to match the £15 million asking price. The difficulties over any deal come with former club Tottenham, who have a sell on clause agreement with their London rivals, which entitles them to around 40% of any fee Taarabt is sold for. However, QPR are now willing to accept a much lower figure, to get disruptive Taarabt off their books for good, and bolster Warnock's January transfer kitty. Italian side Napoli have since been alerted, but want reassurances from the player than he can rediscover the form that saw him score 15 times en route to captaining QPR to promotion from the Championship last season. A solid December should be enough to convince them to splash out the £8 million required, with PSG now unlikely to re-join the race . 30/11/2011 by David McIntyre Forget Paris or whichever major football city Adel Taarabt believes he should be lighting up, the best place for him might be Glasgow.
It’s probably not an option he or his advisors have considered while dreaming of moves to Milan, Barcelona, Manchester or up the road to Chelsea.
Think about it though.
Here’s a man who is – as many good judges inside the game expected – finding it hard to make his electrifying attributes work for him in the Premier League.
The Championship was tailor-made for him in so many ways. It’s a different story in the top flight, not only on the pitch but in the dressing room.
At the next level, Taarabt has found that his team-mates are less willing to induldge him not only on the pitch, but off it too.
“He could be a sensation in Glasgow and have the kind of impact and profile achieved by the likes of Paolo Di Canio.” Being indulged to the extent he was last season enabled him to enjoy star billing and QPR to win promotion. But it in no way equipped him for the next stage of his career. As a result, that career is now in danger of stagnating.
Neil Warnock knew this could happen, which is why he has always sought to play down how far Taarabt will go and has subtly hinted that the player may find that in many ways last season was as good as it’ll get for him.
It’s also why Rangers spent the entire summer trying to negotiate his sale to Paris St Germain and would have accepted any half-generous offer that came their way.
Despite talk of interest from Europe’s elite, Taarabt’s best route out of QPR has always been to a rich overseas club where non-football people have a major influence on footballing decisions.
PSG fitted the bill. It was no accident that it was them Rangers spent so long in talks with and did seem to finally be edging towards an agreement before the whole thing collapsed.
So the notion that Rangers are now willing to sell Taarabt and have slapped a price tag on him is a bit daft. They spent weeks trying to sell him and his stock has gone down since then.
And the issue with Taarabt isn’t only his attitude or immaturity. That misconception is one that flatters him greatly. There are also question marks over his actual ability.
What now, then, for the man who lit up W12 last season?
Taarabt wants to play on a big stage, to be adored, and to mix it with Europe’s best. What he needs, however, is to grow up, and to play at a level where his naivety isn’t exposed while he matures as a player.
One way he might get all of that would be to join the other Rangers or the other Hoops.
Warnock will listen to offers for Taarabt.Taarabt has spent years under the deluded impression that he would grace a top English or Spanish team. He would certainly grace Rangers or Celtic’s.
The standard of the SPL is more similar to the Championship and is a level at which Taarabt would undoubtedly rip sides to shreds and hog the limelight in the way he did last season.
But this isn’t about taking a swipe at the standard of football north of the border or Taarabt himself. And, despite the surname, I have no Scottish blood or links to Scotland. I just think it would have a lot to offer him.
Both the country’s top clubs could give him big stages to play on, the possibility of European football, and the starring role he craves.
He could be a sensation in Glasgow and have the kind of impact and profile achieved by the likes of Paolo Di Canio – in some ways a similar type of player and character, whose spell in Scotland was the platform for an impressive Premier League career.
It would also offer Taarabt a totally different environment and football culture to play in. One that could well make a man of him.
In the absence of hooking PSG back in, a fresh start at Loftus Road or the big move he wants, an initial loan deal may well be an option QPR would consider – and is one Celtic and their city neighbours Rangers should be alert to.
It would give them a chance to sign a potential star of their league and him an opportunity to showcase his talent.
Further down the line it may also give him the prospect of either Champions League football or a return to west London as a better and more mature player.
The imminent arrival of more new signings at QPR and the potential impact on Taarabt’s already dwindling first-team chances ought to deal even his advisors a much needed dose of reality. He is at a crossroads in his career and, whatever his shortcomings, has ability that should not be allowed to go to waste.

That means NW will need to play AT all Dec. hope he scores scores of goals!!! Disagree, NW job is on the line and I for would not play a player that has no interest in playing for the team or the club. Fatty will be found wanting on the pitch against teams like WBA, he will shrug his shoulders and say up yours I'm off in January . I for one would leave him out and get rid of ASAP.

One month to go until the window opens! Spend your money wisely NW these 4-5 players may be the difference in keeping us up. If we had 5 players , we would get DJ back would you be inclined to just have one new Striker in, do we need two more? , 3 defenders and a midfielder to replace Tarbs if he goes ?

Do you think if we get those 5 Maude and finish 16th -17th and survive , do you think we could push on next year and consolidate maybe towards mid table finish or do we need to worry about second season syndrome ? Suppose we have to survive the first season for starters!

AND and and a Goalkeeper. Finally, and it was predictable Kenny is starting to show signs of wear after after a miraculous year, but overuse and pressure and quality of this years prem opponents can stress the living sheet out of this position especially, especially especially with the back four who dont impresss me with their defencive skills;thatsmore toward the center where you need steel und eisen. And dont dont dont, tell me that Radish and Murphy are prem. Keepers This is, the most stressful and the most important position in the entire game of two halves. Remember also Kenny in the not too distant past showed some vulnerabilities off the field. Tearing up ones butt though? Well well well.

Suppose we have to survive the first season for starters! i think so H, 5 quality players is a big ask but if we get them in jan we'll be ok for this season, these injuries we have showed us up against norwich and it will show us up more with the bigger teams, but our team is good, best in the bottom half of the prem, just need that expierence to add. what worrys me if we survive is fernandez saying that they will not be spending in the summer, might just be BS, but unless those 5 additions in jan are going to be good signings then we will not be prepared for next time. treading water. to go back on that fernandez quote, not spending in the summer, that puts a lot of pressure on warnock in january doesn't it?

I cannot see Trabs playing any more for us. Confident that this is one decision made by Tony and I agree with him. If I had a player that I paid that much money for who didnt train, reported out of shape was overweight quarelled with teammates, sulked, didnt play both ways, went home one a bus at half time,( although there are a host of bus deniers on this board), I would cut my losses and get rid of him asap . The only posts I believe on this site are my own. or suspend him.

PAOK Salonika midfielder Georgios Fotakis is attracting Premier League interest.
The Daily Mail says Blackburn Rovers and QPR are keen on signing Fotakis to England in January.
The 30-year-old, who has eight caps for Greece, is keen to move to the Premier League and had a very short spell at Kilmarnock earlier in his career.
Is this the team that beat Spurs the other night , did anyone watch , was he any good?

Given he didn't play for the Reserves vs Charlton, would seem less likely he'll feature vs WBA, even on the bench.

Thanks CPR , well maybe Bassong on Defoe have got their heads set on away from WHL now . I think we all know Defoe is quality and if you keep just coming on as sub you dont actually get any momentum , i know he played last night. Bassong , seems a bit split on Spurs messageboards some love him others want him away but Arsenal hated Traore and hes doing ok so far , sometimes its just what the manager can get from them , still think Bassong is worth a punt as is Onuaha. If we dont get Defoe and cant afford Zamora , 2 million for Johnson and 5-6 million for Hooper should see our front line scoring even more goals. Johnson at 1-2 million is no real gamble and Hooper will go from strength to strength. What other realistic forward options do have to buy or loan?

At the moment I would actually prefer Hooper over Defoe. I think it's mainly to do with the difference in age, Defoe is 30 and nearing the end of his career whereas Hooper is only 23 or 24.

Agree that we should be looking at younger players too.
DI'm sure there are some bargains out there in Europe of the Demba Ba variety as opposed to the Nicola Zigic variety.

The QPR Monday Verdict: Rangers manager is faced with a midfield conundrum Ian Cooper Monday, November 28, 2011 11:26 AM
Lack of goals from Rangers’ middle men is a problem Neil Warnock must solve in January
CommentsEmailPrintGot a story?..To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in. .. Neil Warnock has stated that signing a midfielder will be one of his priorities in January and it is difficult to escape the conclusion that such a player will come as a replacement for Adel Taarabt.
Taarabt has seemingly sealed his own fate at Loftus Road with a series of indifferent displays on the pitch and ill-discipline off it that have surely paved the way for his exit when the transfer window reopens.
There may yet be scope for his return to the first team but every game that passes with the Moroccan on the bench sees him edge another inch out of the exit door. The truth is that his attitude has rarely been one of a player ready to show the commitment and desire to earn his place in the side, it has been on of an individual desperate to secure a transfer.
But since Tony Fernandes’ takeover this season was never going to be about Taarabt, and the upside for his manager is that in Taarabt’s absence, his team-mates have produced displays of expansive football, playing within in a new, more attacking 4-4-2 system that is bringing the best out of strikers Jay Bothroyd and Heidar Helguson.
The negative is that Warnock now presides over a midfield which though defensively strong and attackingly creative, does not carry a goal-scoring threat to match the strikers.
Shaun Wright-Phillips is a potent weapon both on the wings and through the middle, in many ways taking on the mantle from Taarabt, but has faded after his flying start.
Handed a ‘free’ role by Warnock, Wright-Phillips has been unlucky not to break his duck, but history says that throughout his fluctuating career the former Manchester City and Chelsea man has never been a regular on the score-sheet, and is unlikely to be so for Rangers.
Jamie Mackie has also found form, particularly in the last two games against Stoke and Norwich. It was his shot which cannoned back off the post allowing Luke Young to net QPR’s equaliser at Carrow Road. But though a reliable and hard-working figure, Mackie is similarly unlikely to get anywhere near double figures this campaign.
Alejandro Faurlin’s performances from deep have drawn many plaudits already, but his is a role which allows few forays forward, while the same can be said for skipper Joey Barton, who has looked far more at ease in his deeper role of recent weeks.
Indeed, QPR’s only goals from the middle so far this season came in that 3-0 win against Wolves at Molineux in September. Since then, Helguson has scored five, Bothroyd two, and right-back Young two.
Come January, Warnock will certainly have greater concerns than his midfield, namely plugging the gaps in a defence which in the last few weeks has been beset by injuries and become alarmingly porous, conceding 10 goals in the last four games. One, if not two versatile defenders will be added to bring much needed strength in depth.
The lack of a goalscorer from the middle of the park will not make of break QPR’s season, but it could yet be a deficiency which hurts them.
There is an argument to suggest that as long as the likes of Wright-Phillips, Mackie and Barton continue to lay on chances for the strikers, the dearth of goals from further back matters little.
But Bothroyd and Helguson will almost certainly go through periods without a goal, and they are the moments when the presence of a midfielder capable of taking over that responsibility becomes invaluable.
Warnock does have Akos Buzsaky to call on, but has been reluctant to play the Hungary international, whose 12 minutes at Norwich were his first since the defeat at Wigan in September.
DJ Campbell’s return from injury this month will bring an additional option, the former Blackpool man capable of playing up front and in the hole behind the front two if required.
That makes Warnock’s recent assertion that, as well as a midfielder, he is in the hunt for not one but two strikers somewhat hard to fathom. In Bothroyd, Helguson and Campbell the manager would need only one more addition to his front line to be considered rich with options in that department.
Rather, a goal-scoring midfielder is one of the missing pieces in Warnock’s puzzle. Many will still harbour hopes that Taarabt is the man to solve it, but he is clearly craving his big move and is unsuited to a formation which is no longer constructed around him.
It is a problem which, when Fernandes opens his chequebook again in January, will be high on his manager’s list to solve.

Written by Rebecca Knight- Blog If the Metro are to be believed today, Neil Warnock has finally decided enough is enough when it comes to Adel Taarabt – who despite possessing a great deal of quality, has become more disruptive than productive for QPR and they have instructed 3rd party agents to find the Moroccan another club.
Despite nearly leaving for PSG in the summer, Taarabt remained at QPR and has shown a lack of professionalism that Warnock is not prepared to tolerate any longer and wants the player out of the club.
At this early stage, the front runners for the Moroccan’s signature appear to be Italian club Napoli, who would be willing to pay around £8 million for the player should assurances he can rediscover his form be given.
The sticking point for QPR was that Spurs will receive a 40% sell on fee from Taarabt, yet due to having to fine the player multiple times and his open want to leave, Warnock is now willing to accept both this and substantially less than the £15 million they were asking for from PSG in the summer.
Currently going strong in the Premier League, Warnock does not want any negative influence on the squad and feels that Taarabt provides exactly this. Couple this with the fact that money from his sale can be used to bolster the squad in January, and you have an almost certain move this winter for Taarabt.
