With the Cahill deal not yet done for Chelsea I wonder whether Spurs might still get him which would then free up Samba. Arsene doesn't want to buy, Chelsea have made no noises about Samba and Spurs are the only other club that he's likely to choose ahead of us. If Spurs were to get Cahill then I'd say Samba would become more likely (again he says hopefully)! coyle on motd said chelsea are the only club to have offered cahill a deal, and its just done to finalising the personal terms. so im pretty certain that train of thought isnt going to happen, as much as we would love it. Ah hadn't seen that. Not sure then why Spurs aren't being linked with Alex? With Gallas now injured and King being King they'll definitely be looking to sign at least one CB. If they go for Samba we have to get Alex.

Collins is a pretty decent CB, he'd be as good/better than anton and think together they'd play well. I'd probably pip for Alex if given the choice though. I still don't see why we have shown no interest in Wayne Bridge...stick him left back with Traore going left wing and we kill 2 birds with one stone and I think that would be a pretty formidable left side of the field then with those 2 overlapping each other! Then we just need a striker who can score and possibly a keeper who can get across his goal in under 30 seconds!

James Collins would be a great signing IMO, if ( realistically ) we cant get Samba or Alex, then Collins is hardly the poor relation, I would take any one of those three in a heartbeat.
I'm not keen on the Wayne Bridge thing, he didnt exactly help keep West Ham up last season did he ?
In fact, he was awful.
Just because a player is on a hundred grand a week, it doesnt mean they are a good player, especially where Wayne Bridge is concerned, I'm not sure about that one, also, when did he last play ? We need players that can hit the ground running, not players that have been on the golf course on saturday afternoons or in the Sauna.

The Mail story linking Alex with Santos is rubbish (at the moment) but there are links with Gremio, Internacional and (god forbid) Palmeiras. Given the choice of those three or us then he would have to come to LR

We're being linked to so many CBs anyone have any idea of how many we are looking to sign?
Onouha Samba Alex Bassong Collins
Any others? Ridgewell was mentioned pre-Christmas but nothing since. No links at all with Corluka or with Bertrand but I think both would be excellent additions.

Is anyone able to open the Finance tab of this link? www.imscouting.com/players/alex/Supposedly it will say what Alex's weekly salary is. For some reason it won't open for me.

Don't think we are meant to be able to open it. I tried but the indications are that such information is only available on a 'paid for' basis.

If SSN is anything to go by, it looks as though the Alex deal is almost done.

Didn't think it was my PC not working properly. Should have read the small print I guess. Would think he'll be on a very good salary £60k+ especially considering how much Terry, Cole etc are on.

I think if Alex signed for QPR, ( dont believe it until I see it ) that would be one of the biggest moments since QPR became a "Rich" club.
He is a fantastic defender; a Brazil international with extensive Champions League experience with PSV & Chelsea, also most importantly, he strikes me as the type that would hit the ground running.

Completely agree. Very excited about this one. Now let's hope we can tie the deal up quickly.

Also signing Alex would send a positive message out to other targets we want to sign.

I will predict thought that should we sign Alex, Samba will drop from our target list. Not as good (probably) as Samba but much better value....£7m cheaper, less salary and only 2 years older. Use that £7m wisely and you could get two other starters.

If only we could have signed Demba Ba, he's just scored a superb volley against Man Utd. I would rather have Ba than Rooney at QPR

Tottenham Defender Preparing For London Switch Tottenham Hotspur defender Sebastien Bassong looks to be on his way out of White Hart Lane, with Queens Park Rangers reportedly interested in signing him. According to the Mirror, the Cameroon international has fallen out of favour with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, and only features as a back up to the injury prone Ledley King. Despite the injury suffered to William Gallas last night, Redknapp is still keen to sell Bassong, as he ramps up his reported interest in West Ham youngster James Tomkins. The 25-year-old Bassong was close to joining QPR during the summer transfer window, but the deal fell apart when Spurs failed to sign Bolton's Gary Cahill. However, it appears as though Rangers boss Neil Warnock is ready to revisit a potential deal, as he looks to strengthen QPR's leaky defence. Bassong will likely cost Rangers in the region of £3 million. www.sportsvibe.co.uk/news/football/tottenham-defender-preparing-for-london-switch-14635/?
