The pace of milk cart with a puncture www1.skysports.com/football/news/11711/7409405/Skysports.com understands Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland are battling it out for Aston Villa defender James Collins. Rangers and Sunderland are both keen to bolster their defensive options in this month's transfer window and have targeted a move for Wales international Collins. Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is a big fan of Collins having signed him during his time in charge of Villa and is thought to be keen on reuniting with the former West Ham stopper. Rangers chief Neil Warnock has made a new central defender one of his top priorities and he has believed to have made enquiries about Collins' possible availability. Collins' future at Villa has been the subject of speculation with the 28-year-old entering the final 18 months of his contract and as yet has failed to agree a new deal. Villa would be reluctant to lose Collins, but could be persuaded to cash in on the centre-half to raise funds for Alex McLeish's own transfer plans.

Now this would be funny ;D Doubt he'd come for less than £80K pw www1.skysports.com/football/news/11711/7409395/Karl Henry has insisted he is unaware of reported interest from Queens Park Rangers, although he did almost move to Loftus Road earlier in his career. The Wolves midfielder faces increased competition for a place in Mick McCarthy's side following the arrivals of Eggert Jonsson and Emmanuel Frimpong, and speculation has suggested he could be a target for Premier League rivals QPR. Henry has welcomed the new recruits and is not paying much attention to the rumours as he is content with life at Molineux. "I've got to the stage where I'm happy here, I want to stay in this league and I'll continue to do what I do to the best of my ability," said Henry, who joined Wolves from Stoke in 2006. "As regards the link with QPR, that's the first I've heard of that. "The last time I was linked with QPR was before I signed here. I had a medical there and agreed a contract with them and nearly signed for them. "But I came to Wolves, I'm still very happy here still. It's news to me."

Could you imagine Henry and Barton on the same team?
Training would certainly be interesting to say the least.

oh well , cant see Blackburn ,Wolves or Wigan spending much , reckon Bolton will spend Cahills cash , they might get some decent signings . If that Blackburn defender goes , leave a big hole in their defence and he scores alot from set plays too!

Hope so Bradfield , lets hope we have funds !
Warnock asks QPR: Let me spend my way out of schtuck Published 22:31 03/01/12 By John Cross . Neil Warnock is back under pressure at QPR - but wants the chance to spend his way out of danger.
Darren Bent tops the west London side's hit-list for January and owner Tony Fernandes is being kept informed about developments to see whether they can lure the England striker away from Aston Villa.
But Hoops boss Warnock is also battling to keep his job after a recent slump saw the Premier League new boys slide down the table and into serious danger of an instant return to the Championship.
Warnock is still confident of turning things around at Loftus Road and is hopeful airline tycoon Fernandes will give him the chance to get it right, having led them to promotion last season.
QPR's bad Christmas and New Year has left them facing a battle for survival and Warnock needs to turn things round.
The first priority is a striker, and Bent appeals because he saved Villa last season after a £24m switch from Sunderland in January.
Bent and Villa boss Alex McLeish have denied a fall-out, but QPR are ready to move if they are given any encouragement, even though Villa will not want to sell at a loss.
Liverpool have also been linked with Bent, whose recent spell out of the team at Villa has alerted clubs to his potential availability.
Fernandes has promised cash for January signings at QPR, who want a centre-half - Tottenham's Sebastien Bassong is on their hit-list - a midfielder and a proven striker.
Warnock knows the club are desperate to avoid the drop after only one season back in the top flight and will be hoping he is afforded the time and backing to steer them away from danger.
QPR have already landed Manchester United youngster Frederico Macheda on loan until the end of the season.

Striker linked with a £10m move to London-Fulham Published 22:31 03/01/12 By Darren Lewis - EXCLUSIVE
. Bobby Zamora's Fulham future is under threat - as Cottagers chief Martin Jol has made a £10million move for Argentina striker Maxi Lopez.
Zamora was outstanding for the club under former boss Roy Hodgson but has been out of favour under Jol, although he did hit the winning goal in Monday’s shock defeat of Arsenal.
After that match, the Fulham boss played down talk of a rift with his England striker, but Italian club Catania have confirmed a bid IS on the table for their 6ft 3in star Lopez.
Sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco said: “I can confirm the strong interest from England for Maxi Lopez, and indeed there is a Fulham offer.
“But we are still evaluating potential developments in Italy,”
If Jol were to sign the 27-year-old, it would cast a big doubt over Zamora’s prospects of regular action as he has already fallen behind Mousa Dembele and Bryan Ruiz in the pecking order.
QPR, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Bolton have all been mooted as potential destinations for the talented ex-Tottenham frontman.

PR want some Samba magic as Warnock targets Blackburn captainBy Sportsmail Reporter Last updated at 10:30 PM on 3rd January 2012 QPR have made an initial enquiry for Blackburn defender Chris Samba. EXCLUSIVE: Ambitious QPR want to secure Scotland keeper McGregor in £7m deal By STEPHEN MCGOWAN Last updated at 10:55 PM on 3rd January 2012
Comments (0) Share
QPR have added Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor to their list of transfer-window targets.
The Premiership club’s manager Neil Warnock has already secured Manchester United’s Federico Macheda on loan and retains an interest in Ibrox prize asset Nikica Jelavic, despite baulking at the £10million asking price for the striker.
Revealing that he wants ‘three or four’ new signings this month, Warnock is also in the market for a keeper and is prepared to fund a deal worth £7m for McGregor — consisting of £5m in cash plus a Loftus Road fringe player of Rangers’ choosing.
McGregor pledged himself to the SPL champions by signing a new five-year contract last year and manager Ally McCoist would be highly reluctant to lose the 19-times capped Scotland international.
Sportsmail understands, however, that Queens Park Rangers would be willing to wait until the summer to land the 29-year-old were the Ibrox club reluctant to sell him now.
Warnock recently lost both first-choice Paddy Kenny and understudy Brian Murphy to injury and was left with 37-year-old Radek Cerny as his only fit keeper.
With Cerny’s contract up in the summer, Peterbrough United No 1 Joe Lewis has been assessed on trial, but assistant manager Mick Jones admits that landing a top-class goalkeeper is on the agenda.
‘In the long term, we’ve got to look at that,’ said Jones. ‘No doubt about it. Radek is not getting any younger, so it is something that we’re considering all the time.
‘That could still come in the summer, although top keepers are like gold dust. Paddy is up there with the top six in the Premier League, so that means to get him fit and 100 per cent right is a big priority.’
McCoist held a meeting with owner Craig Whyte over funding for new players after Monday’s victory over Motherwell.
It is understood a further meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, with the Rangers boss desperate to bolster his attacking options.
Adding another midfielder is also thought to be a priority, though it remains to be seen whether any acquisitions will be possible without a sale being made.
The departure of Jelavic could free up funds for new signings, but the first departure yesterday was young Norwegian Thomas Bendiksen, who sealed a return to his homeland to join Tromso.
Unable to secure a regular starting placein Govan, the 22-year-old rejected a new Rangers contract, but will be the subject of a compensation claim from the Ibrox club.
Bendiksen told Tromso’s official website: ‘I had a very good contract offer from Rangers, but I said “No thanks”.
‘Tromso are a good club with ambitions to be even better. I aim to play my way to a permanent place in the team and look forward to an exciting season, both at home and not least in the Europa League.’

IF we were to sign McGregor it would suggest that there is big money to be spent by Warnock. Why else would we spend £5m on a keeper when he has clearly stated that other positions are the priority. Add TF's throwaway comment about shopping for players and it seems to suggest that we could be going big (he says hopefully)!

With the Cahill deal not yet done for Chelsea I wonder whether Spurs might still get him which would then free up Samba. Arsene doesn't want to buy, Chelsea have made no noises about Samba and Spurs are the only other club that he's likely to choose ahead of us. If Spurs were to get Cahill then I'd say Samba would become more likely (again he says hopefully)!

If Alex was really in talks yesterday wouldn't we heard more by now?
Onuha wants to stay up north, as we all know.
Not too sure about Bassong after recent viewings, is he better than what we have?
Know nothing of this keeper but also have an intense dislike/distrust of Scottish keepers.
