I am considering increasing the P&P charge. I had rounded it down to £2 from the £2.06 it normally costs but by the time Paypal have taken their 8% cut I lose 50p on every order. A more realistic figure will be £2.75 p&p which will make it about right. Yes, I know 50p per book doesn't seem a lot but on 100 books....................?

And on 1.000 books, even more...So absolutely do

Also don't forget that Gramps is paying all the printing costs personally, along with a little help from one or two friends. The 5 pounds paid for each copy actually goes 100% to the Trust.

Gramps now has the ability to deal with overseas and special orders. He will be in touch with those for whom this is necessary! Also, total raised is now up to 370 pounds, not counting any orders that came in during the last 8 hours!
Well done, everyone!

gramps will you be making a visit to LR this season? think you would sell a few if you gave notice? Went to the Blackburn game. May be going to Norwich home on 2nd Jan. Just not sure at present. In time, if I can get anybody in authority at QPR to listen and co-operate, the book may be advertised somewhere but don't see myself standing outside the ground with a pile of books selling to the public. The other problem is that anything more than 15-20 books takes a lot of humping around at my age and would likely want five times that many at least.l A nice thought but don't think it is viable. Thanks for the thought anyway. Have now raised £550.

someone from the club should contact you soon gramps, this can't go unnoticed. Can only hope, Maude. The way they fiddle and f**t around there makes one feel despondent. Of all the complimentary books I have sent them - Fernandes, Bhatia, Warnock, Evans, nobody has so much as muttered a thankyou. Ah well..................... RUNNING TOTAL NOW AT £555

That is great gramps. The children will really be delighted with all your efforts. I must say I am very disappointed that no one at the club has gotten back to you. I would have thought that your book would be invaluable to someone like TF, who I imagine would not be too knowledgeable about QPR's history.

Gramps already has raised well over 500 pounds for the Tiger Cubs / QPR In The Community Trust... Will anyone meet with him to receive the money? Will the Official Site carry a photo of the handover, and details of the book? Will Tony or Amit drop in and sign a few copies? Answers on a postcard to...

That would be so nice Canada but I cant see it happening. To be honest, Gramp's effort is worthy of a seat for the day in the directors box and the trimmings that go with it. He's done more for QPR than some twat like Capello.

It's very simple...
These messageboards reach a few thousand match-day fans and distant and overseas supporters.
If Gramps' efforts sell 300 copies, they will provide 1500 pounds to the Trust.
The Official Site has a wider reach.
If it were to report on the fan-started fundraising and show the book, perhaps double that number of books or more could be sold.

I think the time has perhaps come to try to get something in a local paper. Can anybody give me an editorial contact number/address or ideally e-mail for any paper in the Bush area?

If you can get Warnock for a day out to promote the book for the trust I think that would be better than a club suit.

I have a couple of thousand Twitter Followers...And visitors to blog and messageboard. Official QPR have 15,000 Twitter followers. Throw in the Official Site.
Even tweets have a limited impact. People actually have to see the tweet at the time.
And of course throw in the many who don't use the web, period, including the QPR Site. And it might not be unreasonable to believe that a larger percentage of those non-users might be older supporters who'd be interested in your book if they knew about it.
(Edit: I should note that besides here and my blog and tweets,re Gramps book has been posted on dot.org; on LFW and WATRB (Not aware if on others). So most of QPR fans who visit messageboards at least have "the opportunity" to know there is such a book ]

I have rather given up on this twitter thing. Tried to send a message the other day and it took me 20 minutes to work out how to do it.
I have decided that I am not going to bother with that lot at the club any more. If they are not interested - which appears obvious, then bugger them! Comp. to Fernandes - ignored. Comp. to Bhatia - ignored. Comp. to Warnock - ignored. Comp. to Evans - ignored by him but an underling said he had read it.
Even used the tweet thingy a long time back to ask Rodney Marsh if he would write a foreword - ignored. Sent another to him offering to send him a complimentary copy if he could email me an address - ignored.
I have decided one thing today and that is that I am not prepared to do anything else of this nature. I will just continue as I have in the past and take in the occasional game.
I am involved with a number of other (non-football) charities who will welcome my help and do all they can to promote my efforts.
I have seldom felt so demoralised.

I understand. And I can't speak for the other things Gramps. Maybe it just takes more time. Or more nudging...Or maybe the book hasnt reached the eyes of Bhatia, Warnock, Fernandes. (And if we keep trying and publicizing it may)
But you shouldnt be TOO demoralized
You've given a fair number of QPR fans a knowledge of what it was like to follow QPR in the olde days. And regardless of how the club reacts, that is now a permanent record. (Perhaps at some future date, when sales are over) you might consider just posting the whole thing on the website for people to read for free for years to come)
And as we've been saying: The Club is not the people running it. It is all of us. So maybe it's more important that we read it than Warnock or Fernandes (although of course it would be nice)
As for not being thanked for you've done. I expect eventually they will. Again, especially if keep taking note!

Don't be demoralized John; although I am as confused as the next guy as to why the club has not been in touch; I am almost certain they will eventually. This is an amazing P.R. opportunity for our club & I can not imagine for one moment that they would pass up at an opportunity such as this. Rodney Marshes failure to respond comes as no surprise; love the guy & even used his name as my sons middle name, but it seems life in The States has changed him slightly.
Maybe if everyone on Twitter starts to #tag your books title, it may stir up some interest. Also may be an idea to set up a Twitter account as the books name & I am sure someone on here (admin/mod) would be more than happy to monitor that account on your behalf?
Also, have you considered having an extract from the book up the website so that people can see how well written it is?

I understand that it is now publicised on QPRnet.com which is one I was not aware of.
Thanks for your comments guys.
Fraggy, I think you are right in that Rodney has changed. From looking at his tweet thingys he gives the impression that he sees himself as God's gift to everything and everyone.
Happy to have a Twitter account for the book if anybody wants to do it or to 'tag' whatever that is.

Another angle to consider seeing as your book is now advertised as 'stickies' on quite a few forums; is to maybe set up your book as a religion. <Now before you all click next> hear me out If I remember rightly; some Star Wars dweebs a few years back were trying to make Jedi Knights or something like that into a religion & needed 10,000 signatures for it to be recognized. Between the many forums that are advertising your book, I am sure we must be close to 10,000 people by now. I just read the 10 steps to making a new religion (won't bore you with the finer detail) but it looks as if your book & it's followers tick all the right boxes

Just a positive re Rodney....
As I've noted before: When my son graduated college, I asked him for a message of congratulations I could include in the college newspaper graduating edition. He instantly responded. And for that I'm very grateful.
(Plus he is, an Honorary Moderator of this board, and he did for a while post here - which was great)

A religion? Hmmm, not sure if my leg is being pulled here. That would probably not go down too well with some of the people with whom I, as a practicing Christian, associate.

It was slightly tongue in cheek.
I guess the point I was putting across, is that religion seems to have been used for everything other than what its original purpose is most of the time.
War, financial gain, persecution etc.
I would never belittle anyones faith regardless of my own personal beliefs & have the utmost respect for anyone who is able to commit to a set of beliefs.
But breaking down the concept; I see no reason why this would be a bad idea. The fact that we all follow QPR faithfully through good & bad, have faith, loose faith & worship mortals from time to time, sounds as if we are already part of a religious cult.
If another could be set up based on the above principles, & the outcome meant that more funds were made available for a great cause; I for one would not be too overly concerned at using religion in this manner.
