And just a negative re Rodney! If you read some of his latest tweets. They're pretty "controversial" (To use a charitable term!)

Positive news at last. Andy Evans has emailed me to try to arrange a date for me to go to LR for a first cheque presentation and pictures of same for the website. The downside of this is that he can't do any of the seven or eight dates I gave him in the next couple of weeks so it may not be until December that we can fix anything up. I have asked if he can arrange to get something about the book in the WBA programme which might bring in an order or two for Christmas. Awaiting a reply.
Just wondering if it might be an idea to send a complimentary copy to the beard.

I would send complementary copy... (And it's your call: I'd offer that also to the media people (and say they're free to contribute if want)

I have just had an amazing text message with some lovely compliments on my book. Now this is either somebody here winding me up or................................ It begins: "Hi John, you don't know me, but part of the QPR family ......................... Now I have a record of every name and address to which I have sent a book and there are only two people in that list of 107 people with the name Tony. One is in Manchester and the other .......................... ?? The message itself is brilliant and incredibly encouraging which is why I am hoping it is not a wind up by one of you lot.

A bit thank-you to whoever passed the book information on to other messageboads today. We had around 400 visitors to www.qprtheolddays.com which was 10x the traffic of yesterday.

Thinking of hiring a local office suite, installing computers, desks, filing cabinets etc to cope with the orders. (No not really - I am managing, assisted by my missus who is a bit poorly at present.)
Posted off 19 last evening then had orders for another 8 and posted them this morning. I can guarantee that within the next hour there will be more orders. Up to £675 at the time of writing and our local Post Office staff are saying "Oh, not you again". I think they enjoy having a friendly poke at me because they all know me from my working days with Royal Mail and wouldn't have dared say anything like that when I was one of the guv'nors!
Still intrigued by the mysterious 'Tony' text message - come on, which one of you was it? Actually, the sender's mobile number appears at the top but I doubt I could find anything out by ringing it and it would be a bit obvious because my number would then be available to whoever it was. Hey ho!
Further emails with Andy Evans indicate that it will probably not be possible for me to visit the ground for a photo shoot and cheque presentation until the beginning of December (after WBA).

I really don't think it is one of us Gramps, you never know it could be Tony Fernandes.

Could be, Rory, and he is probably shy talking to somebody as important as me.

I'd reply back...Given that Fernandes does tweet...There are only one or two slimebags I can think of who'd mock you re this... So call back...See if it really is...(And if it is, see if you can take a quote from him to post on your site to promote the book further.)
(Also try googling the number you have, see what comes up)

Thanks Mike. I'll take it under consideration.
Update: Just received the £100 sponsorship from Andy Evans on behalf of the Trust. This will pay for the stationery I am about to order to start producing the third hundred books.
Have just cleared £700 for the Trust.

Just had a most welcome caller at my door - Paul - a QPR supporter who lives just a few miles from me in Essex. The first, and probably only person to ring my doorbell and ask if he can buy a book. Paul comes to this board as a visitor but is not a registered member.
That is a follow up from yesterday when I had another first. A supporter ringing from South Australia to order a book (but he doesn't get to many games!).
Thank you Paul for calling, having an enjoyable chat and buying my book - plus a generous donation for the kids.

Received my copy just yesterday morning, thanks indeed Gramps. Have read about half so far-rivetting. So much stuff I didn't know. For starters I didn't know there was so much football going on during the war-I thought it all just stopped in 1939! Tons of stuff about early players I never knew---great! Well done, Gramps!
