I am considering increasing the P&P charge. I had rounded it down to £2 from the £2.06 it normally costs but by the time Paypal have taken their 8% cut I lose 50p on every order. A more realistic figure will be £2.75 p&p which will make it about right. Yes, I know 50p per book doesn't seem a lot but on 100 books....................? Gramps, Canada, have you noticed the cover of the Book? It says Queen's Park R Look at Bushman's Photograph Thing top of the page: It says Queens Park R--which is correct. There is no apostrophe in Queens. I hope you fellers have changed it and that it was an old cover.

Cover was all the good work of our Mark and you will never get me to agree that there should not be an apostrophe in Queen's.

Ahhh, I see. Sorry, I was just going by the spelling that I am familiar with , but whatever you say, Gramps.

Haha, been looking at the photos again, and it's Queen's and Queens all over the place! We've had two spellings for 100 years! Amazing! I never realized it. So it should be Queen's, not Queens, unbelievable. We must be the only club in the league with different spelling for our first name.

No idea why it is but it has been a contentious issue since about 1745 - well, perhaps not quite that long.

received your book this morning gramps and have just finished it, anyone not bought a copy would make a great stocking filler this xmas. Going to give it to my mate Gerry who is in his 70', so he will enjoy it tremendously. If I may pull up Ron Phillips on his memory, Terry Venables joined us in the summer of 1968 so he could'nt have played in the 3-0 fa cup defeat at Wednesday. When I was a nipper in Batman Close, a few of us sold programmes and when we were on that great cup run 1967 Rangers Roar and all the other stuff (ashtrays, keyrings etc.), Ron was the secretary and looked after us kids, fabulous memories

Watson missed out on playing at Wembley because of that injury. Terry Venables joined the club in June 25, 1969 and not 1968.

It was, in fact, Ian Watson who was injured and taken to hospital. Ian Morgan came on as sub. Took a bit of shuffling round in those days because teams couldn't have the number of subs they do now. As evidenced in this instance with a winger coming on in place of an injured full back. I have amended the page in question and this will be reflected in the third 100 which I shall be printing at some time next week the way things are going.

gramps, this could mean those of us with the earlier editions could be sitting on a small fortune in years to come seriously it was a great read and got to agree with you players had a better technique, especially 70's, in the old days

His reply: Always interesting to hear comments like these and, gosh, it's incredible that they remember things that happened over 40 years ago. I have a horrible feeling I never thanked the programme sellers for all they did to make the Rangers programme such a success. So much happened on a match day and I had to look after all the V.I.P.'s, so I never got a chance. If this chap writes again, would you tell him how much I appreciated all they did for the club? I attached almost as much importance to the programme sales as I did to the match result. Almost. It was so easy to forget that once one had joined the QPR staff, the smallest meeting with a fan gets remembered forever. I recall that, about a month after I arrived at the club, someone asked me for my autograph. I looked behind me to see if they were addressing someone else! What wonderful years the Sixties were. I know we've done well since and visited Wembley a couple of times in the F.A. Cup (that replay against Spurs nearly killed me - I got no sleep for 3 nights as I had to sell tens of thousands of tickets). But I feel it was a magical period which, alas, comes just once in a lifetime.

Through the early decades of the last century it was used and then would disappear for a season or two and then appear again. It was Ron Phillips who erased it in the early Seventies.

Gramps, something I noticed last nght, in the list of managers, Les Allen is credited as being 1968 - 1974, with no Gordon Jago. Or have you rectified that already?

cheers gramps re Ron Phillips, no need for him to apologise, he is'nt joking when he says he was too busy matchdays. We also sold the team sheet for the reserves, Ron would run a couple of hundred out on the printer, we would fold them in half and sell them, 2d if my memory is correct. We operated out of the sole office which was then in Ellerslie Rd., you got to remember we were such a small club mid-sixties, none of us knew what heady days lay just around the corner

That was without question my error, for which I apologise to all, including Gordon Jago! It will now be amended for the second re-print so please, everybody, buy a new book as yours is now redundant - althought will probably be worth about £5,000 this time next year. ;D

I enjoyed my meetings with Ron, well almost all, there was one meeting that broke my heart but that's another story. I have always found him to be polite, attentive when we were in contact up until he left the club. This year after many years of searching, it was awesome to get back in touch with him. I always have and always will have appreciated his efforts to appease people like myself from the other side of the world. I still have some of his letters somewhere in my stash of QPR stuff.

good read. I note on page 23, against Grimsby, a player by the name of "Wardle" also wore a QPR jersey. What was his first name?
