www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/17799457.former-cherries-star-marc-pugh-reportedly-set-join-queens-park-rangers/Former Cherries star Marc Pugh reportedly set to join Queens Park Rangers By Dan Rose FORMER Cherries star Marc Pugh is understood to be on the verge of securing a move to Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers. Sky Sports have reported the Bacup-born winger has agreed personal terms with the Loftus Road outfit. The 32-year-old scored 56 times in 312 appearances for Cherries after being snapped up in the summer of 2010 - the Dorset club paying a £100,000 transfer tribunal fee to Hereford. Pugh played a key role in promotion from League One with Cherries in 2012-13 before winning the Championship in 2014-15. He has been a free agent after his contract with Cherries expired last month.

From the Offie www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/rs-move-to-sign-kane-pugh/R's move to sign Kane & PughMatt Webb @mattwebb987 QPR have completed a double signing – following the captures of Todd Kane and Mark Pugh. Right-back Kane, 25, arrives at Rangers on a three-year contract after leaving west London rivals Chelsea in the summer. Last season, he made 41 appearances during a loan spell at Hull City. Talented attacker Pugh, meanwhile, has signed a one-year deal – with the option of a further year – following nine years at AFC Bournemouth. During that period, the 32-year-old helped to establish the Cherries in the Premier League and, like Kane, spent time on loan at Hull last term. Thrilled with this double capture, R’s boss Mark Warburton told http://www.qpr.co.uk: “Todd is a player who I’ve watched right throughout the academy system. “He joined Chelsea at a young age and I watched his performances for Hull last season, where he showed his qualities as an attack-minded and technically-gifted full-back. “He has a real desire to play the game with intensity, so we’re delighted to see him join us.” Warburton continued: “Marc has quality, experience and he’ll add so much to the squad, both on and off the pitch. “We’re thrilled to have him with us, and excited to see his contribution during the coming weeks and months. “He’s played at the highest level and is a proven competitor. Also, the value that Marc will bring in a mentoring role is really significant.”

Hugill in too.
They wanted Hogan but couldn’t turn their nose up at Hugill.
That’s probably our business done now unless we sell Leistner and Luongo.

I think we're after one more striker and possibly another CB too (assuming Leistner is leaving). And...is Pugh in because we can't get Judge? Or could we still be after Judge too?

Has to be instead of Judge as we need to give Chair and Eze some game time. If Judge arrives then I expect Chair will go on loan again which might not be too bad if he isn't going to get a game here. Shame as was looking forward to see him play this season. Luougo, Leister, Wheeler and Goss most likely on their way and then I think we are well covered across the squad

Not sure how accurate this is ? I think this is pretty accurate Harr. Middlesborough were looking at getting him back and it was suggested that he was earning between £50k and £60k pw. This was quickly put down as incorrect with him actually being on £35k pw. The Middlesborough loan apparently cost them £15k pw plus a loan fee. So pretty similar. However, with Villa winning promotion, Scott Hogan's wages rise to £40k p.w That will be much harder to shift on the 40/60 basis and why we apparently wanted him to be bought out of his contract so that we could pick him up as a free agent. When that did not happen, the loan seemed the only option, but Hugill was always going to be the 'cheaper' option.

Ipswich rejected offers from Rangers for the 30-year-old Irishman, who played under Warburton at Brentford and is keen to make the move to Loftus Road. Rangers on Saturday moved to complete the signing of Marc Pugh on a one-year deal. Asked if that was a reaction to Ipswich’s refusal to sell, Warburton admitted “it probably is” and that he believes Judge will be staying at Portman Road. Pugh has been joined at QPR by defender Todd Kane. Both players were free agents, having recently left Bournemouth and Chelsea respectively. And striker Jordan Hugill is being brought in on loan from West Ham.

By Gordon Waddell 00:01, 28 JUL 2019 Aberdeen have rejected two more English bids this weekend for defender Scott McKenna. Mark Warburton’s QPR and Nottingham Forest have both made firm offers for the 22-year-old Scotland centre-back believed to be in the region of £3million. Hull City have also made their renewed interest in the player known after seeing four bids for him snubbed last January. However Aberdeen will play hardball over their 12-cap defender, who has become a mainstay of the international set-up in the past 18 months. And MailSport understands they’re prepared to wait it out until their valuation of the defender is met, with four full seasons left on his Pittodrie deal after signing a long-term contract last March. They do expect more significant interest, though, particularly with the transfer window for the English Premier League and Championship closing on August 8, the eve of their opening weekend. McKenna has been the subject of constant transfer attention since breaking into the Dons first team as a fixture two years ago. As well as Hull’s failed attempts, Aston Villa and Celtic had major bids knocked back for him last August.

Most of it seems like decent, logical business. Some deals I dont quite get. Some I just don't agree with at all. While excited by a good number of the moves, it does worry me a bit that we are bringing in so many - it is not normally easy to start a season with such a vastly new group of players. Also makes me think about who the sellable assets are for when we inevitably have to sell more players to balance the books come next summer. Lot of loans, lot of older players with little to no sell-on value. But plenty of good, too. And of course, lots of new faces or not, isn't like we want more of the same of last season...

Interesting piece on Todd Kane Former Chelsea youth captain Todd Kane signs with QPR After 17 years, countless loans, multiple accolades, a few key injuries, and one Champions League final trip, former Chelsea youth prospect and captain Todd Kane ended his association with the club earlier this summer by opting to not sign a new contract. Instead, the 25-year-old decided to test the market and today, has landed himself a three-year contract with nearby QPR. The R’s confirmed the move on their website, with new manager Mark Warburton, formerly of also nearby Brentford and one of the key men behind the NextGen Series, which prompted UEFA to create the U19 Youth League, expressing his delight at the arrival of the marauding full back. “Todd is a player who I’ve watched right throughout the academy system. He joined Chelsea at a young age and I watched his performances for Hull last season, where he showed his qualities as an attack-minded and technically-gifted full-back. He has a real desire to play the game with intensity, so we’re delighted to see him join us.” -Mark Warburton; source: QPR FC Like many of our favorite youth prospects, Kane joined Chelsea at the under-8 level just after the turn of the millennium, but despite excelling and impressing at every level and even joining the traveling squad for the 2012 Champions League final in Munich as reward for winning the FA Youth Cup, he never quite managed to get over the hurdle of the Chelsea first-team. FC Bayern Muenchen v Chelsea FC - UEFA Champions League Final Nathaniel Chalobah, Todd Kane, Jamal Blackman on May 19, 2012 Photo by Darren Walsh/Chelsea FC via Getty Images The closest he came was probably in 2016, when he looked likely to leverage an excellent season on loan at NEC Nijmegen into a squad spot under incoming head coach Antonio Conte. But Kane suffered a torn ACL on the final day of the Eredivisie season, spent the next season on the sidelines and was still feeling the effects two seasons later, as it often tends to be the case with that terrible injury. (Meanwhile, Conte repurposed Victor Moses as a marauding right wing-back. One can only speculate how well Kane could’ve fit that role at least as a backup or rotational option.) A True Blue through and through, Kane once would’ve been happy to sign a 10-year contract with Chelsea. Alas, football is a harsh business sometimes. Kane will be turning 26 in September and is coming off of a solid season on loan at Hull City in the Championship. He previously spent time at Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, NEC Nijmegen, Groningen, and Oxford United. At QPR, he will be expected to replace Darnell Furlong, who moved to Championship promotion hopefuls West Brom earlier in the week. QPR finished towards the other end of the second division table last season and will be looking to improve on that. Good luck, Todd! weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2019/7/27/8932989/former-chelsea-youth-captain-todd-kane-signs-with-qpr

QPR line up two more signings and further exits By West London Sport 28/07/2019 Embed from Getty Images Mark Warburton expects QPR to make one more signing this summer after the deal to sign Jordan Hugill on loan is confirmed. West London Sport recently revealed that Rangers were back in for striker Hugill, who is coming in from West Ham and has long been a target. His arrival will take the number of summer signings made by the club to an extraordinary 13. And Warburton plans to make it 14 by the time the transfer window closes on 8 August. “We’ll have a striker (Hugill) in, probably by Monday the latest, and maybe one more on top of that and then we’ll be done,” he said. “It’s been a major revamp but I think it was the right thing to do.” Warburton also expects Sean Goss and David Wheeler to leave. Winger Wheeler, 28, has been unable to establish himself since arriving from Exeter City in the summer of 2017. Midfielder Goss, 23, arrived from Manchester United in January of that year and has been a major flop. “They’ll be moving on I think,” said Warburton, who added that it was “quite likely” the pair will be leaving on permanent deals. Rangers have been trying to sell Massimo Luongo, as revealed by West London Sport earlier this summer. The club are also looking to offload Toni Leistner, who has fallen out of favour under Warburton. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-line-up-two-more-signings-and-further-exits

So who is the mystery man still to come?
One more in and 3 more out and I would call this a good if unexpected window, producing a new balanced squad, and probably improved our FFP situation in the process.
My one other major hope now is that the fans are patient. Last year after the first 4 games we climbed to the fringe of the play-off spots before crumbling into a pit. This season I expect after so many changes that it will take a number of games to settle things down so I expect a slow start and then gradually work our way up the table. Given some of the Twitter and one line brigade are already after Warburton before the season starts I hope at least in the ground and on this board common sense and patience prevails.

So who is the mystery man still to come? My one other major hope now is that the fans are patient. Last year after the first 4 games we climbed to the fringe of the play-off spots before crumbling into a pit. This season I expect after so many changes that it will take a number of games to settle things down so I expect a slow start and then gradually work our way up the table. Given some of the Twitter and one line brigade are already after Warburton before the season starts I hope at least in the ground and on this board common sense and patience prevails. So, did they achieve what they set out to achieve this window? (I originally posted this on the wrong thread, but I echo your sentiment 75!) 1) Well it seems that on Warburton’s appointment there was agreement that a complete overhaul was necessary. Well with a new squad that has been achieved. 2) It had to be done without spending much money.
So far only £60k on Kelly (bargain) – however, the bill for the agent’s’ fees for the 15 arrivals may be quite a sum! 3) We needed experience to back up the youngsters. In Pugh, Wallace, Cameron & Rangel we have a lot of dressing room presence. 4) The shortfall was always going to have to be met by the loan market.
I estimate that the 4 loans will cost us circa £3m for the season (£900k Hugill, £800k Mlaker, Smith £700k and Amos £600k). You gets what you pay for, but these 4 look a good bet for our dosh. Hopefully, quality not the ‘Arry quantity -stock ‘em high approach. 5) We needed to bring in funds for FFP / loss of parachute payments.Circa £7.5m so far (Freeman £5m, Furlong £1.5m, Ingram £400k, Smith £500k + loan fees). Think that Leinster, Luongo, Goss and Wheeler could add to that figure – we probably need it to meet the target. 6) We needed to reduce the size of the squad.See my post above on the number of transactions completed. Still talk of another signing this week (defender?) but the outgoings likely to increase by the end of August when the International deadline and League One & Two close. 7) We needed to reduce the wage bill – considerably. If you look at the list of arrivals and departures, shirt for shirt, we have acquired cheaper options. Most of the high earners have left. The 3 highest remaining being Leinster, Luongo and Hall. 8) We needed to give ourselves a decent squad, capable of survival with assets to sell going forward.Yep, incredibly, we just about have. It will come as a blow to see them leave (as it did with Furlong in particular) but if we accept the reality of our situation, we know it will happen again. My other thought is that to truly put down foundations so that we can build for the future, a major reconstruction was essential. But going forward the constraints should be more manageable. I was interested to read that we have complained about clubs selling grounds to their owners to avoid FFP. There is a recognition that our battle is tougher than most. 9) We needed to reaffirm the strategy, let the Director of Football do his job and stick to the plan rather than jumping ship with every managerial change.Hmmm….Now here I am a little confused. The new squad is clearly Warburton’s (not a bad thing). The above 8 points are the closest thing that I can recognize as a plan. Presumably, Sir Les was responsible for the drawing up of the outline plan and for the 35+ transactions coming to fruition? Presumably, in agreeing to the Summer plan, it was going to have to rely heavily on personal contact? Presumably, Hoos, Ferdinand & Warburton are all happy with the outcome? And yet, it could all have happened with minimum involvement of the Director of Football for all we know. I hope that Sir Les was fully on side with it all and that he sticks around. 10)………………And finally, had you told me on the 31st May that we would be in this position on the 28th July I would have said that you were barking mad. I follow the economics of football, it is just impossible to do what QPR have set about. But we have done it. Truly amazing. It may not work, we may get relegated this season, we may get thumped a lot, but full marks for effort. Our owners may have been stupid, but our management today is pretty smart IMHO. I truly hope that they reap the reward they deserve for their courage, that the fans stay off their backs and we have a bloody good enjoyable season. Rangers Till I Die! Great summary, I agree its been a very productive transfer window. Let's hope Luongo moves on as no point have a reasonably high value asset not in the squad and we just pay his wages but I expect he will go quite cheaply now as the club wants to cash in and avoid his wages which must be close to £1m/year. Probably sell for £1M if I am honest. Whilst we've lost quality in Freeman, overall we have a much stronger squad which means we can rotate more when players go out of form (i.e. - like Eze last year) and at the same time when you get a chance then that player should be working their arse off to stay in the team.
Still a bit concerned about our lack of goals as Hugill's goal record is not great and the Brighton lad is an unknown, but excited about the midfield which should match with how Warburton wants to play. I expect Amos and Smith to start every game if fit and in-form, given their pedigree, then we have 3 in front of them from BOS, Eze, Chair, Pugh and Shopido which is not bad, plus Scowen might get game time further up the field.
Looking forward to the start of the season but I agree, we need to give the squad lots of time to gel. All I hope is a reasonable start, and no relegation battle, with improvement shown by our own young players (including those who go out on loan) as we might need a similar summer next year when the loanees go back to their parent clubs.
