Seems like Marc Pugh is the back up plan if Judge deal falters.

Kane & Pugh now confirmed on the offish!
I'm a lot happier with Pugh than i would have been with Judge.
Accordfing to posters on LFW, Hugill is now confirmed as well.

If Hughill is in that must be our incoming transfers season done, just a few to go out either loans or sold. Not a bad bit of work from the club.

Meanwhile, Sean Goss..................in the training photos, not played at all in any pre-season friendlies, not even a sub, his number 6 shirt has gone to Matt Smith and yet never mentioned in any out goings. Surely he will be off next week?

The 2019 summer transfer window for English football transfers will run from May 16th to 17:00 BST on August 8th 2019. Closes before the season starts. Europe has a slightly longer so we could still sell after our deadline.

So, did they achieve what they set out to achieve this window?
1) Well it seems that on Warburton’s appointment there was agreement that a complete overhaul was necessary. Well with a new squad that has been achieved.
2) It had to be done without spending much money. So far only £60k on Kelly (bargain) – however, the bill for the agent’s’ fees for the 15 arrivals may be quite a sum!
3) We needed experience to back up the youngsters. In Pugh, Wallace, Cameron & Rangel we have a lot of dressing room presence.
4) The shortfall was always going to have to be met by the loan market. I estimate that the 4 loans will cost us circa £3m for the season (£900k Hugill, £800k Mlaker, Smith £700k and Amos £600k). You gets what you pay for, but these 4 look a good bet for our dosh. Hopefully, quality not the ‘Arry quantity -stock ‘em high approach.
5) We needed to bring in funds for FFP / loss of parachute payments. Circa £7.5m so far (Freeman £5m, Furlong £1.5m, Ingram £400k, Smith £500k + loan fees). Think that Leinster, Luongo, Goss and Wheeler could add to that figure – we probably need it to meet the target.
6) We needed to reduce the size of the squad. See my post above on the number of transactions completed. Still talk of another signing this week (defender?) but the outgoings likely to increase by the end of August when the International deadline and League One & Two close.
7) We needed to reduce the wage bill – considerably. If you look at the list of arrivals and departures, shirt for shirt, we have acquired cheaper options. Most of the high earners have left. The 3 highest remaining being Leinster, Luongo and Hall.
8) We needed to give ourselves a decent squad, capable of survival with assets to sell going forward. Yep, incredibly, we just about have. It will come as a blow to see them leave (as it did with Furlong in particular) but if we accept the reality of our situation, we know it will happen again. My other thought is that to truly put down foundations so that we can build for the future, a major reconstruction was essential. But going forward the constraints should be more manageable. I was interested to read that we have complained about clubs selling grounds to their owners to avoid FFP. There is a recognition that our battle is tougher than most.
9) We needed to reaffirm the strategy, let the Director of Football do his job and stick to the plan rather than jumping ship with every managerial change. Hmmm….Now here I am a little confused. The new squad is clearly Warburton’s (not a bad thing). The above 8 points are the closest thing that I can recognize as a plan. Presumably, Sir Les was responsible for the drawing up of the outline plan and for the 35+ transactions coming to fruition? Presumably, in agreeing to the Summer plan, it was going to have to rely heavily on personal contact? Presumably, Hoos, Ferdinand & Warburton are all happy with the outcome? And yet, it could all have happened with minimum involvement of the Director of Football for all we know. I hope that Sir Les was fully on side with it all and that he sticks around.
10)………………And finally, had you told me on the 31st May that we would be in this position on the 28th July I would have said that you were barking mad. I follow the economics of football, it is just impossible to do what QPR have set about. But we have done it. Truly amazing. It may not work, we may get relegated this season, we may get thumped a lot, but full marks for effort. Our owners may have been stupid, but our management today is pretty smart IMHO. I truly hope that they reap the reward they deserve for their courage, that the fans stay off their backs and we have a bloody good enjoyable season. Rangers Till I Die!

Thanks Ricky.
I think that is a sound summary.
I know I'm mad, but I can't remember when we last entered a season feeling so optimistic. Perhaps 83/84!

Europe has a slightly longer so we could still sell after our deadline. I may be wrong surrey, but I think EFL Division one & two clubs can still arrange to loan players till later in August. That would allow us plenty of time to reduce the size of our squad, however I doubt that clubs loaning players after the eighth will contribute much financially. EDIT I've just checked & EFL one & two have this facility till September.

I don’t perceive Wheeler will be on a big wage and loaning him out to league 1 and recouping most or all of his wages should be fairly easy.

Any ideas on squad numbers? And who’s the one more to come ? I was going to ask about squad numbers, was thinking they'd need to be done before Saturday. I looked on the QPR site but the new signings are blacked out with no numbers and the most recent signings aren't on there yer. I suspect the numbers that are there will change as they're last season's.

Any ideas on squad numbers? And who’s the one more to come ? Not officially announced as yet, but in pre-season, the remaining players from last year retained their squad numbers from last year. New players slotted in to the vacated shirts so: Kelly(1), Kane(2), Wallace(3), Smith(6), Pugh(7), Amos(8), Hugill(9), Ball(12), Masterson(15), Mlakar(16), Barbet (29) Barnes (no idea). Of the above, Wallace, Kane ,Pugh, Hugill and Masterson are yet to play, so they are just assumptions. Means that Lumley will start in goal, but Kelly will have the number one shirt - not a bad compromise. So something like: 1 Liam Kelly 2 Todd Kane 3 Lee Wallace 4 Grant Hall 5 Geoff Cameron 6 Matt Smith 7 Marc Pugh 8 Luke Amos 9 Jordon Hugill 10 Eberechi Eze 11 Josh Scowen 12 Dominic Ball 13 Joe Lumley 14 Ryan Manning 15 Conor Masterson 16 Jan Mlakar 18 Aramide Oteh 19 Ilias Chair 20 Bright Osayi-Samuel 21 Massimo Luongo 22 Angel Rangel 24 Osman Kakay 27 Oamdi Shadpo 28 Nico Hamalainen 29 Yoaan Barbet 30 Charlie Owens 37 Toni Leistner Sean Goss Dillon Barnes Lewis Walker

If by the end of today leistner is still with us I don’t think we’ll be particularly weaker for it. Sure he’s got deficiencies but he gives his all and had some good games last season
He’s now got squad number 37

He would still be able to sign for a German club. Or virtuslly sll European clubs come to that. That is the problem when you have a different window to everyone else! We can't sign anyove after the closure, but we can still sell.
