Now that our status is confirmed, the work on rebuilding the squad has to start. Our squad is threadbare if we just list those who are contracted for next season. The criteria for the list is those players who were awarded a shirt number in the 2018/2019 season. There are obviously other Under 23s and Under 18s. Thought it would be worthwhile building a thread to track how the squad develops between now and August. Guess what, we need defenders....

I fully understand your concern 75. FFP was supposed to protect the fans from rogue owners bankrupting the club and destroying the community. Instead, it has ensured that rich clubs get richer and poor clubs are relegated to their financial correct standing in the league. Wealthy owners can no longer indulge themselves and invest to buy success. With our stadium and income, QPR may well soon be the poor relation to Chelsea, Fulham, Brentford and even AFC Wimbledon. That is why we need ways of growing our income, be that from a new stadium or from a youth policy. But the list of currently retained players, is both alarming and yet also reassuring. Alarming because we are certainties for relegation (to the third tier that FFP dictates) if we do not add wisely. But with a glass half full, the list demonstrates the tremendous work that has been done to remove all the high earners. The retained players list looks more like a list of investments /assets maturing for future sale. If you try to list the high earners in the pack, the base is considerably lower than it has been for many years. In short, we are on the road to financial recovery, although I accept that we may not have dropped as far as we are going to have to. Our high earners are probably: Freeman, Smith and Luongo. Possibly, Leistner and Goss as well. How many of that high earner list will even be here in August - not all I would wager. My point being, we have a target of £11m p.a wage bill and we must now know exactly how much we have to play with to live within that number. In short, Hoos and Ferdinand have the opportunity to take full control the situation. They know who we can afford to extend, should they wish, and how much we can afford to pay for new acquisitions. We have not been in that position for 10 -15 years. So there is a positive to lighten your mood. Of course there are no guarantees that they will get it all correct. I see next year as being incredibly tough. But I also see it as the year we should turn the corner and start the recovery. I just hope we can survive in both the short and long term. But keep the faith!

I know it is pretty daft stuff, but an amusing read about how much Transfer Market currently value our squad. Luongo worth more than Freeman. High value Wells and Hamed playing poorly and we cannot afford them - great irony. Some of those figures are ridiculous, but I doubt that they are far out regarding Luongo, Freeman & Eze. Lynch & Hall look to be a little tad on the high side! It would be interesting to know what figure they put on Chair.
Of the senior players that are going out of contract, the only one I would consider an offer to is Rangel & that wiould have to be as a player/coach. Until the Bolton gaem, I may have included Hall, but Bolton included two centre halves that would have improved us this season (and they are being relegated!). Wheater is far past his "glory" days & is not really my type of player, but he could stand in the middle of the defence & head balls away far better than lynch. Probably for half the money! Jack Hobbs is more my style of defender (this is from my memory of his performances) & again, would be obtainable at a fraction of our current salaries! Especially if they were guarenteed to be paid on time every month!
I am not for one minute advocating that we should sign either of these players, but I believe there are players available that are cheaper & better than those that will be leaving the club, whether they be free agents or are currently playing at a lower level.
At no time yesterday did we have more than two players on the pitch that definitely won't be here next season (I'm regarding Shodipo as a maybe) & the performance gave me a little bit of hope for next season. Mind you, we do need someone who can put the ball in the net!

I think that a lot of the valuations are based on a straight forward formula. So a Junior yet to break into the First Team - £90k Well at least they say that our current loan players values are on the decrease! But Wells still valued at over £4m.

I totally accept the limitations of 'TransferMarket' website but it is interesting as a comparison to other clubs The link below shows how we relate to the valuations of other Championship clubs. Relegated Clubs with ex-Prem players obviously head up the table (partly because of the formula deployed), but take a look at where Norwich and Sheffield United appear in the valuation table. But at the other end, the bottom 4 valuations currently occupy the bottom 4 positions in the league. Shame there is not a table that compares the wage bills. www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/startseite/wettbewerb/GB2

QPR have released the following 12 players: Omar, Tilt, Felix, Genavesi, Fox, Noel-McLeod, Platt, Mesias, Raymond-Calender, Brooks & White
Surprised about Omar, we had great hopes when we signed him from Steveage - we do not seem to be able to develop centre backs. Tilt, Fox, Felix had made it on to the team bench.

Watford to sign keeper as 12 youngsters leave QPR By David McIntyre 01/05/2019
Watford are to sign teenage goalkeeper Harvey White from QPR.
White, 18, has been on trial with the Premier League club. He was two years into a three-year scholarship at Rangers and is among 12 youngsters leaving.
The others include Chay Tilt, who was signed from West Brom in 2017, and defender Ali Omar, who was tracked by a number of clubs before joining the R’s last summer after rejecting a new contract at Stevenage.
Right-back Joe Felix, signed last year after being released by Fulham, is also leaving.
The others being released are Myles Bowman, Caden Genovesi, Kraig Noel-McLeod, Mickel Platt, Aiden Mesias, Khaliq Raymond-Callender, Marcus Brooks and Charlie Fox.

Surprised about Tilt who was on the bench a couple of games ago.
The good news is that Shodipo has been given another year.
MIDE Shodipo has committed his future to QPR until the summer of 2020 by agreeing a one-year extension to his current contract.
The exciting winger – who impressed from the bench against Nottingham Forest on Saturday – made his R’s debut at the age of 19 on the opening day of the 2016/17 season.
He went on to make 14 Rangers appearances that season, spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Port Vale, and Director of Football Les Ferdinand is delighted that Shodipo will be in W12 next season.
“Everyone knows the talent that Mide possesses,” Ferdinand said. “He’s had a tough time with injuries in the last couple of years but hopefully that is behind him now and we are looking forward to seeing him out on the pitch next season.
“We are all excited to see how he performs over the coming months.”
Shodipo has made three appearances for Rangers’ first-team this season – against Stoke City, Rotherham United and Forest – with all of those coming in the last two months, following his recovery from injury.
He is determined to build on that over the summer months and into next season.
Speaking after Saturday’s game against Nottingham Forest, Shodipo said: “Next season will be an important season for me. I want to prove to everyone that I can play in this division and play in this team. I believe I can play at this level, and it is about getting my opportunity, staying fit and taking my chance when it comes.”

Ilias Chair 'the best player that has ever worn a Stevenage Football Club shirt' according to boss Dino Maamria Speaking to CometSport's Dan Mountney ahead of Stevenage's final game of the League Two season against Cheltenham, Maamria lauded the attacker, saying: “Ilias is the best player that has ever worn a Stevenage Football Club shirt. “He's probably the best player that has played in League Two. www.thecomet.net/stevenage-f...ever-1-6032617No pressure then next season..........

That's interesting, I expected that we would lose / sell / let go at least one keeper and though that would be Ingram. He still has a year or so left on his contract so we could get a small fee.

Amazingly, some of our fans want the club to just go out and buy a whole new team every summer! We already have a bloated squad. Ours is definitely a case where more is less.

Most on their are still in our under 23s despite being listed as first team players. Many will say we need to trim squad but I think we need to bring in some experience across all areas.

These are my thoughts on the current players
Goalkeepers
1. Ingram - Will remain
13. Lumley - got some value so likely to be sold
45. Brzozowski - longer term prospect
00. Dieng - I can see him being given a new contract and stepping up to number 2
Defenders
2. Furlong - will move to center back (I expect Rangel to be given a short term contract)
4. Hall - May play as part of a 3 man back line
24. Kakay - Not quite ready will probably go out on loan
28. Hamalainen - Will be around the squad but possibly go out on loan again
29 .Phillips - Honestly don't know enough about this player
37. Leistner - Will be centre back
Midfielders
6. Goss - Will take a massive change to get him playing for us
7. Freeman - Gone to highest bidder
10. Eze - I am not sure what wil happen, with Palace losing Zaha they may reignite their interest but not sure he is good enough to take the step up yet.
11. Scowen - Will be starting next season
14. Manning - Played well at right wing back so fits the 3 man back line with wing backs
19. Chair - the player that most excites me, played so well admittedly at lower league but this guy has so much talent
21. Luongo - Stating 11.
44. Bettache - Dont know enough about the player
Wingers / Wide Players
20. Osayi-Samuel - I really like him, wish he had played more last year.
27. Shadipo - Looks like he has come on, could be around first team squad as a like for like sub for Osayi
38. Smyth - Not sure why we loaned him out, played some decent football under Olly. Got buckets of pace, could play behind the striker
43. Dalling - Dont know enough about the player
Strikers
17. Smith - Will stay with us but he isnt going to get us the goals we need
18. Oteh - Didnt do much at Walsall, needs to show he can take the step up, possibly back out on loan somewhere
25. Wheeler - Pompey fans loved him, I think he will be in and around the squad next season
34. Walker - looked lively in the few games he played. The club clearly have faith in him, expect to see him starting games next year
So as we stand (and expecting Rangel to sign) this is how I see the starting XI
Lumley Fulong Leinster Hall Rangel Manning Luongo Scowen Osayi Eze Smith
