I think that quite a few will now be loaned out to lower league clubs. Any or all from: Walker, Hamalainen, Oteh, Owens, Brzowski & Kakay Goss remains an enigma. A couple of weeks ago Warburton said that he thought Goss was leaving, but he remains without a squad number and never mentioned in connection with a move. Perhaps he will return again to Scotland. Leinster though is another issue. Much will depend on how much he wants out from QPR. He does not fit with the manager's new style and there was talk of him leaving throughout last season as his value increased. But the door back to Germany remains ajar for the next 3 weeks. I would not be surprised to see him depart and we bank the fee and save his wages. We have Cameron and Masterson as cover for Hall and Barbet. Scott McKenna played tonight for Aberdeen as they went down 2-0 due to individual mistakes (not his). If he does not go to another Scottish club this window (e.g. Celtic) I think we will be back in for him in January. The savings on Leinster would obviously contribute to his purchase. Our other interest (David Bates) signed for Sheffield Wednesday. Seems we wanted McKenna and no-one else though. If Leinster wants out, it is not so dissimilar to McKenna wanting out. There comes a point whereby you have to take the risk and bank the money rather than keep a demotivated player. Just ask Chelsea (David Luiz), Aresnal (Koscielny) and Manchester United (Pogba). Not condoning the actions of these players, but it does false a club to cut its losses and sell. Meanwhile, Forest add player after player. I wonder how many they signed this window compared to the number that left.

That’s a very good window! ... our squad now looks balanced with quality/competition in all positions. I’m very confident of a mid table finish now and if all comes together , why not playoffs.
No star players of definite premier league quality but I’d put this squad up against any other in the championship!

Leistner is an odd one in that it is only really him and Smith who suffered from the issue of a new manager bringing in a new style of play - or at least, an adapted one.
The shape doesn't change much but the application of it does mean there isn't a place for a 'destroyer' style defender in Warburton's vision, in the same way there isn't for a big lad striker who thrives off things being played at head height.
Considering the massive amount of changes in personnel, you can probably mark two contracted players being surplus due to a change in style of play and manager (as opposed to just finance/upgrading) as pretty alright. Ideally you want none but we certainly aren't just layering players upon players, creating dead money on the whim of whoever is in our hot seat for a year or so.
You can't tell much from one game but maybe Stoke was an indication of what's on offer to Leistner if he stays - an option off the bench to firm things up at the end of games if we have a point or three to defend. Sacrificing guile for solidity without changing shape.
It only gets messy if we are dead set on spending money on a new CB. Unless Leistner gets a good offer back in Germany, I personally don't get why he'd move domestically unless it was near-ish. Moved his family over from Germany, brought in as first choice CB and given the armband and now doesn't start and doesn't 'fit'. That happens and that's football - he'll know that more than anyone. But on a personal level, it is a tough sell to a player and his family, relatively new to a country, on a contract and secure wage, to up-root again just for the sake of regular first team action. Doesn't mean he'd sulk, but it is significant.

From the Offie www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/charlie-owens-agrees-new-contract/Charlie Owens agrees new contractGeorge Jones @qpr CHARLIE Owens has committed his future to Queens Park Rangers by putting pen to paper on a new two-year deal. Owens travelled with Mark Warburton’s first-team squad to Austria during pre-season and, as part of his new contract, QPR have a further year’s option beyond 2021. Speaking after agreeing his new terms, Owens told http://www.qpr.co.uk: “I’m delighted. The club showed faith in me during pre-season and have done so again with this new contract, so I want to repay that and earn my place in this team. I’ve developed during my time here and I want to kick on even more. CHARLIE OWENS“I had a really good pre-season and I’ve tried to impress Neil [Banfield], the gaffer, Eusty [John Eustace] and Chris [Ramsey] too. I’ve developed during my time here and I want to kick on even more and show the staff that I’m a good player. “People like Les [Ferdinand] and Chris [Ramsey] have so much faith in younger players and hopefully I can be the next one to establish myself as part of QPR’s first-team squad.” The 21-year-old midfielder joined the R’s from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2017 following a successful trial. Owens, who has represented Northern Ireland at Under-21 level, made his professional debut as a substitute in QPR’s League Cup win over Bristol Rovers in August 2018. He spent the second half of 2018/19 on loan at League One side Wycombe Wanderers.
