Luton Town will explore the possibility of signing QPR youngster Michael Harriman on a permanent deal when the transfer window reopens. The 22-year-old full-back has been on loan at Kenilworth Road since October, playing eight games in League Two. Hatters boss John Still said he was pleased with Harriman’s displays and suggested the Rangers man would be open to making the switch permanent in January. “I think during the course of this month, I’ll have a chat with QPR and see where it all is,” Still is quoted as saying. “We like Michael and Michael, with the greatest respect, would like to stay here, but that’s for QPR to decide. “We’ll have a talk about that and see where we go from here, but he’s done very well and we’d like to do something with that one.” www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-wls-qpr-youngster-targeted-for-permanent-move

Reports: QPR and Spurs to battle for Roma hotshot By talkSPORT (@talksport) | Thursday, December 11, 2014 Reports: QPR and Spurs to battle for Roma hotshot Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham have joined the race to sign Roma's Italian international Mattia Destro, according to reports. The 25-year-old, who has also attracted firm interest from both AC Milan and Inter Milan, could be available in January but Roma would be unwilling to release the striker for less than £15m. Destro has scored four goals in 15 appearances this term for Rudi Garcia's men and sources close to the former Inter youth star have revealed he is attracted to the proposition of playing in the Premier League. QPR and Spurs have reportedly made an initial approach for Destro and it is now up to the striker to decide where his future lies. Newcastle United's unlikely hero Jak Alnwick attracting interest from QPR Dec 11, 2014 09:00 By Mark Douglas A clutch of clubs have shown an interest in Jak Alnwick, who seemed set to leave Newcastle until he was given an opportunity by Alan Pardew Share Share Tweet +1 Email PA WireNewcastle United goalkeeper Jak AlnwickNewcastle United goalkeeper Jak Alnwick Newcastle United’s unlikely goalkeeping hero Jak Alnwick is interesting Queens Park Rangers, who had invited him to train with them before his chance at St James’ Park. The 21-year-old’s contract is up at the end of the season and he looked likely to leave before injuries to Rob Elliot and Tim Krul presented him with a chance to earn a new contract at Newcastle if he maintains the sort of form that impressed Alan Pardew at the weekend. Alnwick had been seen as one of the leading goalkeepers in his age group as a teenager and was taken from Sunderland’s Academy by Newcastle. But he has found opportunities limited at St James’ Park and was the subject of interest from QPR and a clutch of Championship clubs before his unexpected chance on Tyneside. Alnwick’s hand has been strengthened by being thrust into the spotlight and even if he continues to impress and is offered a deal, he may decide to look elsewhere. Newcastle have Karl Darlow to come back from Nottingham Forest next season and England under-17 European Championship winner Freddie Woodman is being groomed as a future number one at St James’ Park. With Krul tied down to a long-term contract, United’s goalkeeping situation seems mapped out for the next few years but Alnwick can gatecrash that if he continues the fine start that he enjoyed against Chelsea on Saturday. He will also play against Tottenham in the League Cup, in the derby against Sunderland and Manchester United at Old Trafford after United were blocked from making an emergency loan. Newcastle have already refused Alnwick the chance to go out on loan once this season and it remains to be seen what Pardew decides to do after what promises to be a month of football for the 21-year-old. “Jak is in a contract situation with us. He hasn’t played,” Pardew said at the weekend. “I don’t know whether he is good enough or not if I am honest. So what are we going to do?” Newcastle’s impressive recent form has created a few unexpected decisions for the United board, with the club now keen to tie Sammy Ameobi to a new contract that looked unlikely back at the start of the season. The club are understood to have had discussions with Ameobi’s agents Key Sports recently and it was claimed that a three-year deal for the forward is on the table on Tuesday. Newcastle, keen not to lose any of their young players, were not being drawn on that subject on Wednesday – although if Ameobi did leave with a contract offer in front of him the Magpies would be entitled to compensation because he is under the age of 23. As Ameobi looks to lengthen his deal, Pardew has talked of “protecting” striker Papiss Cisse as he continues to strain at the leash despite still recovering from a knee injury. Cisse had surgery on his knee in the summer and was expected to be out for the first months of the season but he has seven goals already this term and wants to keep playing. Pardew insists he must be nursed through the next few weeks. “It is a situation with his knee which means we have to protect him. “Could he have done that in the last 35 minutes if he had played the whole game?” he said. “Probably not. He was fresh. There is one thing you do know – he will score.” www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-uniteds-unlikely-hero-jak-8267834

Burnley, Leicester, QPR, Sunderland AND West Brom in January SCRAP for Raul Albentosa SPANISH defender Raul Albentosa will spark a transfer scramble in January with five Premier League clubs keen to sign him. Published: 00:00, Fri, December 12, 2014By PAUL JOYCE Burnley, Leicester City, QPR, Sunderland and West Brom all hold an interest in the SD Eibar centre-back, who is out of contract next summer. Eibar are resigned to losing the talented Albentosa and would prefer to seek a cut price fee when the transfer window opens next month rather than see him leave for nothing at the end of the season. Raul Albentosa could be on his way to England in January Albentosa, 26, has emerged as the mainstay for newly-promoted Eibar, who are currently ninth in La Liga and have impressed in their first season in the top flight. There is interest in him from other Spanish clubs, but the player is keen to move to England. Championship side Middlesbrough are also monitoring matters, but know they face a battle to persuade him to move to them. www.express.co.uk/sport/football/546526/Raul-Albentosa-transfer-scramble-January

Redknapp watches Brentfords Andre Gray www.london24.com/sport/football/clubs/brentford/warburton_fires_warning_over_brentford_striker_as_qpr_boss_watches_bees_beat_blackburn_1_3885309Warburton fires warning over Brentford striker as QPR boss watches Bees beat Blackburn 17:59 13 December 2014 Tom Moore at Griffin Park Mark Warburton has warned any potential suitors of Andre Gray that Brentford would have to receive a healthy transfer fee for his services. The R’s boss is keen to sign someone to try and take the load off in-form striker Charlie Austin and Gray’s dynamic display may fit the bill. But Warburton has warned anyone interested in the striker, who has eight Championship goals after joining the club from Luton in the summer, that they will have to pay a big price for Gray. “It’s the same old story,” Warburton said. “I hope every player attracts attention, but the fact is that any player who leaves here leaves on our terms “Everyone has a price. The owner will decide the price. That’s life. And we would replace him. “But right now this is a good place. I think anyone would think long and hard before leaving here. “I have no doubts he could go to the higher level...hopefully with us.” He added: “He loves scoring goals and that is a big part of character of a centre forward. “He genuinely enjoys it. He was a handful against Hanley. For the two centre halves he gave them a torrid afternoon.” Brentford are sitting in fifth place and, whatever happens in next week’s trip to Cardiff, the Bees will enter Christmas Day in a play-off spot. But Warburton knows that maintaining their lofty position will be difficult. “These are big clubs and at the start of the season all the talk from everyone was about surviving in the division,” he added. “Now, fans are saying that anything less than playoff place is a bad season. “This is a big league, a tough league, and we have to respect that and look at the next game. “We have a squad of players who have work rate and commitment with quality on the pitch. “We will go as hard and as long we can and see where it takes us.”

Hoilett supposedly to be allowed to leave in Jan sg.sports.yahoo.com/news/hoilett-allowed-leave-qpr-093600377--spt.html Hoilett allowed to leave QPRView Photo Hoilett allowed to leave QPR By Graeme Bailey A host of Premier League clubs have been put on alert after it emerged that Junior Hoilett is set to be allowed to leave QPR in January. The Hoops are preparing for a busy transfer window, with Harry Redknapp keen to bolster his options at the turn of the year. Goal understands Redknapp would ideally like to keep Hoilett, but the former Tottenham boss has been told that he has to let some of his fringe players leave. One of those is set to be the former Blackburn winger with a number of clubs understood to be interested in acquiring his signature, despite his failure to pin down a regular starting spot in 2014-15. Everton, Sunderland, West Ham, Southampton, Leicester and Swansea have all expressed an interest in landing the 24-year-old, though they would have to take on the vast majority of his sizeable wage packet. Hoilett joined QPR from Blackburn in 2012.

This is a wish, not a maybe or a rumour that we are interested & I can't even remember the name of the player!
The man who came through the Glen Hoddle acadamy & looks a good player on the left for Scotland. I think he is at Watford but obviously I might have that wrong!
I would be very happy to see him playing on our left, giving natural width, skill & a footballing brain.
To me, he is the type of the player we should be targeting.

I think out the three of those Robbie Keane would sadden me the most .
Crouch at his value probably £2 million ish would probably be decent value for money . If things did turn out badly could see him playing in the Championship too not sure if Defoe would .

The Daily Fail has had us after Rhodes, Gestede, McCormack, Crouch, Defoe and Keane in the last few days.
So if/when just one of them signs for us, they'll be claiming some sort of brilliant insightful journalism.
Pathetic.

However, Rhodes would be affordable now and is used to playing off a main striker as he was doing that last season at Blackburn. He could work well with Austin like Ings and Vokes do at Burnley. Since Blackburn are now in the brown stuff I think a decent offer for Rhodes would do the job. Plus, if we do go down we'd sell Austin to a top half Prem team and keep Rhodes. As for the others on the list I'd be happier if we left Keane and Defoe alone. Hughes won't sell Crouch to us. I'd bite the hand off if we get an offer for Hoilett. Still need another commanding centre back with pace though.

On a side note, good to see Eddie Howe doing well at Bournemouth.
Would love him at QPR one day. However, if we stay up this season I think Harry will want to stay on a few more years and build us into a solid mid table Prem team.

"We like Michael and Michael, with the greatest respect, would like to stay here, but that's for QPR to decide. "It's not a question I can answer, so when we speak to QPR we'll be able to see what they're thinking. From talksport. Hope it's true! QPR outcast could be set for Italian job By talkSPORT (@talksport) | Wednesday, December 17, 2014 Queens Park Rangers outcast Adel Taarabt is wanted by Italian club Atalanta. The midfielder has been jettisoned from Harry Redknapp's squad and Rangers would love to offload the Moroccan. But he is on a lengthy and lucrative contract at Loftus Road and, so far, no clubs have shown an interest in taking him on. Last season, QPR loaned him out to Fulham and AC Milan, but the English side sent him back early and the Italians shied away from signing him permanently. Atalanta are currently 16th in Serie A and are not in a position to pay the asking price for Taarabt, but Rangers might be willing to send him out on loan again or cut their losses as their fight against relegation intensifies in the second half of the season. QPR and Leicester target Jermain Defoe will remain in MLS according to Toronto Dec 18, 2014 21:34 By Alex Richards The former Tottenham hitman has been linked with a return to the Premier League but the Canadian side are planning to keep him for next season

The 32-year-old striker has been linked with a return to the Premier League recently, with both Leicester City and QPR - and another reunion with mentor Harry Redknapp - mooted as possible destinations.
Rumours have been swirling that Defoe could be set to return to England, just 10 months after quitting for life on the other side of the Atlantic.
The former Spurs star was signed by the Canadian club as an expensive Designated Player as they looked to make an assault on the 2014 MLS Cup.
However, head coach Ryan Nelsen was sacked and Toronto finished the season as also-rans in the Eastern Conference, failing to make the play-offs despite Defoe's 11 goals in 19 matches.
RexJermain Defoe scores in the 17th minuteNetted: Defoe struck 11 goals in 19 games for Toronto He also featured in only three of their final 16 league matches, with Toronto president Tim Leiweke stating he didn't expect to see Defoe feature for the club again.
But now general manager Tim Bezbatchenko stated that the club are counting on him leading their attack when the re-shaped league returns next year.
Speaking on Thursday, when asked about Defoe's future he stated: "We’re planning on him getting back.
“The player has never indicated that he doesn't want to be here. There is a community around him that has indicated in various ways that they can be here or elsewhere, but, from him, no.”
Nevertheless, Bezbatchenko did declare that the club has contingency plans if an offer comes in that they cannot refuse.
"If someone comes and there's an offer, we'll consider it," he added.
"We’re planning to have him on our team, but we have contingencies.
