I was reading a blog from ESPN FC and they compared the Austin/Zamora combo to Redknapp's old combo of Crouch and Defoe. I think it would be in the club's best interest to have a player similar to Zamora come in January, just due to his fitness history. But reading that article and looking at the two players, it's obvious Defoe would be playing Austin's role or at least more fit for it. Also if Austin goes down there is still Vargas, who clearly can score goals at this level. Basically if this club wants to bring a striker, it should be a bigger one that can win headers and help with hold up play and preferably a younger one. Spot on Corndog. May I suggest Connor Wickham. His contract expires in the summer, so hopefully we can get him for a decent price in January. No way should we go for Andy Carrol unless we want an expensive over rated, under achieving, one season wonder, total Liverpool failure, sick note. Why do West Ham the favour?

I actually thought about Connor Wickham, but isn't he struggling at Sunderland? Then again, he probably just doesn't have the right partner and at least he shouldn't be too expensive. I agree about Andy Carrol, like I said only way I go for him is if the price is right. He's not a terrible player, just injury prone and hasn't lived up to the hype. Funny how Andy Carrol was expected to be the next England striker and next big thing and that guy might just be our striker who started in non-league football.

River Plate star on QPR, Spurs' radar Queens Park Rangers, Latest news update: 1 hour 3 minutes ago Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham are showing interest in £9million-rated Colombian international striker Teo Gutierrez. Scouts from both clubs saw the 29-year-old River Plate hitman, who is in the form of his life, score the winner for Colombia against the USA at Craven Cottage on Friday. Gutierrez has been on the radar of many top clubs for a while and almost joined Porto in 2011, but shot to prominence when he replaced the injured Radamel Falcao at last summer's World Cup. The Colombian is one of the most popular players in South America and confirmed to Win Sports he was aware of English interest. "It's nice that important teams are interested, I hope it can become true," he said. Stoke ready to swoop for Aaron Lennon with QPR also targeting £7million rated Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon has fallen down pecking order at Tottenham Hotspur Stoke City see 27-year-old winger as ideal target to add pace to their team QPR also in the hunt to snatch £7million rated winger from White Hart Lane By SIMON JONES FOR MAILONLINE PUBLISHED: 22:57, 15 November 2014 | UPDATED: 01:13, 16 November 2014 Stoke City want Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon. The former England winger has fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane and they are prepared to sell to help bolster the squad elsewhere. Manager Mark Hughes has Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea and Oussama Assaidi from Liverpool but Lennon would be seen as another step forward in plans to change Stoke's style and add more pace to their attacking play. Tottenham want around £7million but Stoke will face competition from QPR among others. Aaron Lennon (left) has started only three games for Tottenham this season, the last coming in a Capital One Cup tie at home to Brighton last month where Spurs won 2-0 at White Hart Lennon celebrates scoring his first White Hart Lane goal in a 1-0 win over Bolton in April 2006, the winger's first season at Tottenham. He has since gone on to become the club's longest serving player Lennon is the north London club's longest serving player having joined from Leeds as a teenager for £1million in 2005. The 27-year-old quickly became part of Martin Jol's first-team plans and has been a crucial part of the Spurs squad for the majority of his White Hart Lane career. However, the 2013 arrival of club record signing Erik Lamela for £30million as well as the emergence of academy star Andros Townsend have seen Lennon frozen out the first-team recently, as new Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino intends to rebuild his struggling squad. Southampton and QPR keeping tabs on AIK Stockholm striker Kennedy Igboananike Nov 18, 2014 16:00 By Soriebah Kajue The Nigerian-born striker has qualified as a Swedish citizen and is eyeing a move to the Premier League now that red tape won't be an issue Southampton and QPR are monitoring AIK Stockholm striker Kennedy Igboananike. Igboananike, 25, joined the Swedish side two years ago and boasts a record of a goal in every three appearances. The Nigerian-born striker saw a proposed move to the Saints collapse last year due to red-tape but has since qualified for Swedish citizen. Championship side Wolves had also been linked with the player but have signed Sunderland striker Danny Graham on loan. AIK Stockholm would ideally like to retain the services of a player that has notched 22 times in 63 appearances for them and reward him with a new deal. His present contract has a release clause of just £600,000 which clubs would have no trouble meeting. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-qpr-keeping-tabs-aik-4649766

Yes, that's the one. I think he could link up well with the one that plays in midfield that stubbed a lit cigar in a youth team player's eye and beat the sh!t out of a kid so bad he went to jail for it. He's young, he's strong, he's the type of player that we need next to Charlie, he'll fit right into the team in Bobby's position, off the bench or when Bobby is out injured, he's not injury prone and he'll score goals. From Nike and Fernandes' point of view he's also marketable. I think he's worth a shout and no bottle of champagne is worth £17,500, no matter how big it is, the pillock.

Connor Wickham would have been my choice for all the same reasons. He has enough potential that he may be within our budget and becomes an asset. He is a knob obviously but who here hasn't blown 3 days wages on a night out? Sadly, his 3 days wages is very different to ours.
If not then our scouting network will need to find a gem as long as long as it is someone who can be an asset.
Or the bargain basement option is a loan for Grant Holt to see us out to the end of the season.

Is Roy Carroll your hold the ball up kind of player? He always seems to be bulldozing is way into the penalty area rather than bringing others into play. Not sure if Austin would benefit too much from him.
Apart from Zamora. A player who can hold the ball up and bring others into play is Taarabt. If Zamora is injured between now and January. He could be worth a try. Just saying like. The club really needs to start trying to improve the players we have rather than just buying player after player. We have enough coaches where we should be doing this. Otherwise what are they doing here?

But instead he's again let himself and the club down. He knows that if he was fully fit he could walk in to the first team and be a star in the Premiership but chooses instead not to and just mug us off for his wages. 2) He constantly deginerates the club, it would kill the dressing room spirit that Rednapp has managed to build this season if he puts in a player like that, who feels he's doing the other players around him a favour by simply turning up and I feel he would be more detrimental to the team spirit rather than strengthen it. 3) One of our problems at the moment is giving the ball away cheaply. Taraabt would add to that as his tricks don't come off all the time, especially in the Premiership, but he never battles to get the ball back and it's like playing with 10 men when we don't have the ball. We can't afford that in this league. 4) We just managed to get Joey to stop hogging all the free kicks instead to now the best player suited for the free kick depending on where it's taken from. Taraabt wouldn't accept that and this would cause him to sulk on the pitch as we've seen many a time before. 5) Roy Carrol's a goal keeper. He'd be sh!t playing alongside Charlie up front and I don't think Shaun Derry would sell him anyway in January.

I was just adding another option into the mix. I would rather not have Andy or Roy Carroll in the team. Was thinking if Zamora was injured before the transfer window we could try Adel in that role to see how it went. Probably not the best idea. But who would have thought that Barton and Zamora could have turned things around.

Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas disillusioned at loan club Cologne and could be set for QPR move Nov 22, 2014 22:54 By Dean Jones The young defender was loaned out to Bundesliga outfit Cologne at the start of the season but has grown frustrated at his lack of first team opportunities QPR want to sign Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas, reports Dean Jones in Sunday People Sport. The 21-year-old Czech star was loaned out to Cologne this season but has struggled to get in the side. He is frustrated by his lack of opportunities and is now looking for a way out. QPR have been alerted by the situation as they aim to bolster their defence and believe a deal may be possible. They want Chelsea to call him back from Germany - and then loan him to Rangers. Kalas is contracted to the Blues until 2017 and the option of playing in the Premier League is of interest to both the player and his parent club. The situation will be resolved in the new year. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-defender-tomas-kalas-disillusioned-4677891

Wouldn't we be better off trying Ehmer instead of helping Chelsea develop one of their future players?
MAX EHMER JOINS GILLINGHAM ON LOAN
Versatile EDS defender Max Ehmer has joined Gillingham on a one month emergency loan deal
MAX Ehmer has joined League One side Gillingham on a one month emergency loan deal.
Ehmer, 22, has put pen to paper on a deal until January 3rd 2015 and links up with fellow R’s youngster Michael Doughty, who is also on loan at the Priestfield Stadium.
German-born Ehmer, who can play in defence or midfield, has made seven appearances at Elite Development Squad level this season, skippering the side on a number of occasions.
He is in line to make his Gills debut against Port Vale this weekend.
Under the terms of the loan deal, he can also feature in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Is this a piss take? Don't need and don't want...... Queens Park Rangers would like to take Manchester United winger Ashley Young on loan in January. The Hoops are waiting to hear what plans Louis van Gaal has for his Old Trafford squad when the window opens. Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has been given the go-ahead to bring in two big-money loan options in a bid to keep his team in the Premier League. He wants a winger and has also been linked with his former Spurs protege Aaron Lennon. But former United captain Rio Ferdinand has also endorsed Young's credentials, and Redknapp likes his ability to play in a couple of other positions. Young, 29, earns £118,000 a week with the Red Devils and the west London outfit are willing to contribute half towards it. - See more at: www.sportinastorm.com/Premier-League/Manchester-United/QPR-want-Young-loan-deal/X1Y48Z1848837#sthash.CuO4YJJq.dpuf

Maybe that Chelsea defender on loan will happen and upfront Defoe or Crouch .
Don't see more than 3 people joining in January and wouldn't want anymore really .

I know I'll get stick for this but if we're interested in someone similar to BZ we could probably take a cheap flyer on Jozy Altidore. I know he's been awful for Sunderland but he is a man mountain and the kind of player that, in theory, takes a defender on his back and brings others into play.
He's never really gotten a proper run out at the Stadium of Light and as an added bonus the only team in the Premier League he plays remotely well against are the scum. He scored a goal against them last year, drew a penalty at Stamford Bridge to help his team earn a draw and even looked useful last weekend. They might even loan him to us as he's third in line behind Fletcher and Wickham.
Now, I welcome your scorn.
