Campbell close to completing Hull move 30/01/2013 by David McIntyre Hull City are close to completing the signing of DJ Campbell from QPR. The striker, who played under Tigers boss Steve Bruce at Birmingham, is also wanted by Crystal Palace. Several other Championship clubs have expressed an interest in Campbell since he recently scored 10 goals in 17 appearances while on loan at Ipswich. Campbell, 31, joined QPR in 2011 after a successful spell at Blackpool under Palace’s former Rangers manager Ian Holloway. He was unable to make an impact at Loftus Road and was hampered by injuries for much of last season. Holloway was keen to be reunited with him at Selhurst Park but on Wednesday afternoon Campbell appeared set to link up with Bruce despite some wrangling over personal terms. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/campbell-close-to-hull-move

You have no reason to doubt McIntyre. He doesn't do gossip and will only run something once he knows its concrete.
You can safely rest assured that if Dmac says Samba has agreed terms and its just the medical to go then that is exactly what is happening.
Think you can pretty much pencil in Samba into your projected lineup for Saturday.
They'll save this one for tomorrow night for Jim White to get all excited about on the deadline day countdown show.

Looking like Samba and Crouchie are on their way-so we might have a presence and greater threat at corners at least !

Hoilett break: West Brom are willing to swap Peter Odemwingie for QPR's Junior
30 Jan 2013 22:30 Baggies have refused to do business for weeks - but it might be a different story if they get Canadian who has started just once under Redknapp
Junior choice: West Brom fancy Rs misfit Hoilett Scott Heavey Harry Redknapp will have to sacrifice Junior Hoilett if he wants Peter Odemwingie.
QPR boss Redknapp remains keen on the 31-year-old West Brom striker to beef up the Loftus Road club's firepower as they try and escape from the Premier League's cellar.
The Baggies, however, want Hoilett in a swap deal.
West Brom have so far rejected two bids for Odemwingie, leaving Redknapp frustrated and the player in turmoil.
The Nigeria striker has already slapped in a transfer request and made it clear he wants to join West Londoners Rangers.
London calling: Odemwingie may now get his wish at rock-bottom Rangers Laurence Griffiths Now, with Thursday's transfer deadline looming, the Baggies have told QPR that they are willing to do business if Hoilett is included in a swap deal.
Hoilett, 22, only moved to Rangers last summer, brought in by Mark Hughes on a four-year deal after rejecting a new contract with relegated Blackburn.
But Hoilett has started just one game since Redknapp replaced Hughes in November, and could well be allowed to go the other way.
Meanwhile, Rangers are set to pay Chris Samba £100,000 a week to return to the Premier League and stiffen their defence.

£100,000 a week for a player ...
swapping a promising talented 22 year old for a 31 year old past his prime ...
this is absolute madness. If we get relegated, we're finished. 14 games to save our club. Just stupidity all around.

i agree that hoilett for odemwingie is not what should happen, but if you want to stay up, its the best deal .
hoilett will not get into the qpr side this season, whereas ode would be played on the wing, and along with his experience would do a better job at assists and goals.
so survival or rebuild?

My God with all these rumoured transfers by the end of tomorrow we will have a completely different team. FFS get Samba and either Odemwingie or Crouch but don't get rid of Junior in the process. Maybe another centre half as well but that will surely do.
Not a huge fan of acquiring either Odemwingie or Crouch due to their respective ages but at least they may help in the short term to add some firepower.
Surely with these additions we will have a team that can at least avoid relegation.

It would only piss me off if we swapped players and Hoilet was a success and Odemwinge a flop, but who know's it might work seems strange but Harry must have his reason's, at the end of the day we are bottom of the league and Harry has to try and convince players to come that isn't easy, and if he feels Samba, Crouch, Odemwinge, plus the young Korean and maybe those Spurs players are what we need then us fans need to back him.

Hoilett for Odemwingie?
Yes, I would make that deal. We desperately need goals and Odem would provide that. Hoilett won't.
We will have the opportunity to sign plenty of good young mids in the coming windows (hey, this is QPR we always sign loads in every window!) but this is very much a window for the very immediate future. And right now I think Odemwingie offers us more than Hoilett is going to give us in the next 14 games.
Maude is dead on balls right here. When you are fighting for your life you have to make trade offs if you want to have a chance of survival. I think this is a trade off we have to make, I'm afraid.

I would rather sell Hoilett than accept Jenas and Bentley. JENAS! He's like a poor man's Henderson - and can anything be worse than that?

We can't be sentimental with Jamie. Yes he gives his all but he lacks real quality. The problem is if we go down we need him in the championship where hard work generally gets you further than individual class. Samba will be huge for us, I've wanted him to join for the last 2 seasons. Colossal at the back, dangerous from set pieces just what we need.

I think with Jamie we all like him because he causes no trouble and gets on with his job without any sulks or 'faces' (picked that one up from the Wednesday site about Bothroyd). If all the players did that, Jamie would be a likeable 'trier' in our team. The thing is, so few pulled their weight game by game that those who did try were probably elevated a bit beyond their capability.

Redknapp closing in on Odemwingie as QPR boss ditches attempt to sign Crouch By SAMI MOKBEL PUBLISHED: 18:05, 31 January 2013 | UPDATED: 18:11, 31 January 2013 Comments (0) Share Harry Redknapp has given up on signing Peter Crouch and will instead look to complete a deal for West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie before tonight's 11pm transfer deadline. The QPR manager has already signed Christopher Samba for £12.5million but looks set to be busy in the remaining hours. Negotiations with the Baggies are ongoing but Rangers are confident they will reach an agreement with Odemwingie signing a £70,000-a-week deal. On the move: Peter Odemwingie looks set to join QPR before the deadline Redknapp is also still chasing Tottenham trio David Bentley, Jermaine Jenas and Andros Townsend. Stoke striker Crouch, 32, has been heavily linked with a return to Loftus Road, where he played during the 2000-01 season. No go: Peter Crouch looks set to stay at Stoke despite interest from QPR The 6ft 7in striker has previously worked with Redknapp at Southampton, Portsmouth and Tottenham but it looks like he will be remaining in the Potteries. Speaking outside QPR’s Harlington training ground, Redknapp said on Crouch: 'No, I don’t think anything there (is happening with him). It is very quiet.' Deal breakers! Peter Odemwingie claims West Brom promised he could join QPR for £3.5m
31 Jan 2013 18:28 Baggies apparently changed the goalposts by asking for Junior Hoilett on loan at the last minute
For Pete's sake! Odenwingie claims he was lied to Laurence Griffiths Peter Odemwingie has accused West Brom of reneging on a promise to allow him to join QPR if the Londoners stumped up £3.5million.
The Nigeria striker is desperate to leave The Hawthorns and met with Technical Director Dan Ashworth this morning after the Baggies demanded £5million from Rangers.
Odemwingie insists he was told by Ashworth that he could leave if QPR came up with £3.5million.
Once Rangers did so, the striker left for London only to be told as he approached the capital that West Brom now want Junior Hoilett as part of the deal on loan AND Hoilett's salary to be paid in full.
However, QPR owner Tony Fernandes ruled out the Canadian leaving Lofts Road by tweeting: 'Junior hoillet not going anywhere. He's is a key player for the future. Needs a good run in the team'
Odemwingie said: "I am disappointed this is all happening. I met with Dan Ashworth this morning and we shook hands that I could leave with his blessing if the £3.5m fee was met.
Once the bid came in I went home and said goodbye for the day to my wife. "Now, as I am on my way, I find that there are more complications. It is frustrating to say the least. But I am hopeful a solution can be found."
