QPR prepare January swoop for veteran defender Ricardo Carvalho Premier League basement side QPR are set to target Real Madrid veteran defender Ricardo Carvalho in the January transfer window.
The 34-year-old centre-back has been told his contract at the Bernabeu will not be renewed when it expires at the end of the season and could be tempted with a move back to the Premier League as early as the turn of the year. Carvalho served in ChelseaĆ¢ā¬ā¢s back-line for six seasons, winning three league titles and three FA Cups in his time at Stamford Bridge before moving to Real Madrid in 2010. And he is now wanted back in west London - but by Mark Hughes at QPR. HughesĆ¢ā¬ā¢ side have yet to win a Premier League game this term and sit bottom of the table, having conceded 18 goals in their opening nine fixtures and are looking to add stability and experience to their defence. The Hoops are willing to offer the former Portugal international an 18-month deal at Loftus Road, where he would join other high-profile names such as goalkeeper Julio Cesar and former Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero. www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/916463-qpr-prepare-january-swoop-for-veteran-defender-ricardo-carvalho

Bloody hope we don't go after Carvalho again, he's the last thing we need.

I would hope our new scouting system is now in place. If it is then we should not sign MORE 30+ players, especially not former stars who are hugely expensive...

Does Hughes think that because a player is nearing the end of his career and has either won, or played in a major competition he qualifies to come to us a collect his pension

carvalho
to be honest it dont inspire me. has tf not realised yet that getting ageing players for free to compensate for the huge wages just does not work. they are leaving top clubs to come to a team struggling for their lives for a reason and i dont believe it is for glory just money. it will take this club if it survives years to get to somewhere near a top 6 regular spot and at their ages they are not going to benefit from any so-called project so they are coming for the money end of. with the so called team of scouts that we are now supposed to have are you telling me they cannot find someone younger throughout this great footballing world. something not right somewhere.

Presumably we are looking at successful young talent. Young talent that has already been spotted by existing scouting networks and they now belong to successful clubs-well, more successful than us, and there's the rub. Why would successful young talent want to leave a more successful club than us, move away from their roots and families and play for a bottom club in another country, not having won a game and to outsiders anyway, in disarray with 'arry (according to the media) waiting in the wings. "Mark Hughes sold me a vision"? A vision of what?

Or this particular journalist decided he was bored and wanted to start some early rumours but couldn't make up something original, so he looked back at what transfers nearly happened and picked Carvalho because it is obvious we need defenders........

Buy Vegard Forren from Molde AND Carvalho as well. SolskjƦr thinks Forren is good enough for UNITED, and that man knows his onions.

Club Call Brede bid to come from Hughes Fulham, 16:18, October 31, 2012 Views: 93 Former Fulham boss Mark Hughes wants to take advantage of Brede Hangeland's dwindling contract and sign him for Queens Park Rangers. The under-pressure QPR boss worked with the Norwegian international during his one season in charge at Craven Cottage two years ago and knows all about the central defender's qualities and leadership. Hughes wants the 31-year-old to solidify his shaky QPR back four and is reportedly prepared to pay as much as Ā£9million to land his man. Hangeland will be down to the final six months of his contract in January and Cottagers officials know they could be forced to cash in on him unless he agrees fresh terms. Hughes has been chasing a Premier League-proven centre back all year and tried to lure Michael Dawson from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. www.clubcall.com/fulham/brede-bid-to-come-from-hughes-1492853.html

Real Betis Interest in Granero www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/121031/real-betis-target-qpr-midfield-star-184279Real Betis target QPR midfield star Queens Park Rangers midfielder Esteban Granero By talkSPORT | Wednesday, October 31, 2012 QPR midfielder Esteban Granero has been lined up by Real Betis for a January move if they lose star midfielder Benat. Granero only moved to Loftus Road from Real Madrid in the summer but has been one of Rangers' star performers during their disappointing start to the season. And that has led Betis to believe that they can swoop to sign the Spaniard. Benat is wanted by a number of clubs and could well leave Betis for around Ā£16m - meaning the Spanish side will have no problem in affording QPR's asking price for the 25-year-old. And Marca believe that the deal is a real possibility, but only if Benat leaves.

Dave McIntyre/West London Sport Hughes laughs off āstrangeā Granero reports Esteban Granero 02/11/2012 by David McIntyre QPR manager Mark Hughes has laughed off reports linking Esteban Granero with Real Betis. Spanish media suggested this week that Betis were looking to take Granero on loan in January as a replacement for star midfielder Benat, who has been tipped to leave the club. But Hughes insists there is no prospect of Rangersā flagship summer signing from Real Madrid making a quick exit. āItās a very strange one. Iāve no idea where that oneās come from,ā Hughes told West London Sport. āEstebanās absolutely loving playing in the Premier League and playing regular football here. āWhy would he want to go and why would we send him out on loan? It doesnāt make sense at all.ā www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/hughes-laughs7-off-strange13-granero-reports

I would like one of Dawson or Toure at Centre Half.
And i also think we need a striker badly.
OUT: Ephraim. Hill. Young. Hulse. Campbell. Bothroyd.

Of the current 25: That would just reduce it by two (Ephraim and hill) . And I imagine, sadly, Derry will also be gone. Derry and Hill ironically the two players other clubs lower down would want

all i keep hearing is that we are buying quality expierienced premiership players that have done this and done that, but the truth is most are past their sell buy date and are just picking up money for old rope. most are old ex players/mates of mark hughes and as for carvaliho and hangerland on big fees and big wages is crazy, it is getting like a retirement village for old mates. do we have a scouting system? and if we are going to buy a real striker/poacher then my choice would be hooper at celtic if he would come? but if i was tf i would not be happy giving hughes my cheque book!

Cant understand why we keep giving him another year etc etc and then loan out again , whats the point . If we were serious about him we would be having him on the subs bench , just dont get it.
