Rangers plan to dig deep into their pockets for Samba Paying the price: Christopher Samba inShare Share Related Articles We havenât got a lot of talent . . . but we can rescue QPR QPR target 'Korean Peter Crouch' Hulse boost for Millwall Suggested Topics Queens Park Rangers Simon Johnson 29 January 2013 Queens Park Rangers have launched an ambitious bid to sign Anzhi Makhachkala defender Christopher Samba. Rangers tried to sign Samba from Blackburn 12 months ago but he joined the wealthy Russian club for ÂŁ10million instead. The 28-year-old insisted he was happy at Anzhi earlier this month but he has been on the receiving end of racist abuse since making the switch and is thought to be open to a return to the Premier League. However, Anzhi arenât keen to sell the defender, whose family still live in England, as they went into the winter break second in the Russian League and hope to mount a title challenge when the season resumes next month. Samba is also believed to be on ÂŁ100,000 a week at Anzhi and is unlikely to accept a pay cut to move to Loftus Road. Rangers are growing increasingly desperate to sign a centre-half and are in danger of missing out on another target. Porto defender Rolando, 27, has admitted he would like to move to the Russian League, with Spartak Moscow ready to make an offer. Time is running out for QPR to strengthen the backline and find a replacement for Ryan Nelsen, who will play his last home game tonight before taking over as coach of Toronto FC. The club still hope to persuade him to stay for the weekend trip to Norwich but his decision to quit halfway through the season came as a massive blow. Nelsen admitted he is leaving because of fears he may not be able to walk properly in the future. The New Zealand international has sustained a number of injuries since he started his career back in his homeland 18 years ago and they have taken their toll. Nelsen said: âIâve got two bone defects in my knees and Iâve got a hamstring issue where it is attached with screws and mesh. âIt kind of wears on you and Iâd like to one day be able to play with my kids instead of walking around with a cane.â Redknapp is also still hopeful of buying West Brom forward Peter Odemwingie and is looking at Stoke striker Peter Crouch, who he has worked with before at Portsmouth, Southampton and Tottenham. www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/rangers-plan-to-dig-deep-into-their-pockets-for-samba-8471145.html

I don't think Ferdinand is as good at sulking as Cisse or Bosingwa. He makes a good fist of it but just hasn't quite got it somehow. No, I think its down to his sheer lack of ability that shines through. I presume that F was one of those 'knock knock knockin' on 'Arry's door' before the MK game and 'Arry saw what he thought he'd see. Useless buy really as he had been outed at Sunderland.

Fancy a FIFTH fling, Crouchie? Stoke striker on Harry's hitlist as he eyes another link-up with former England striker
By JOHN DRAYTON
PUBLISHED: 07:50 GMT, 29 January 2013 | UPDATED: 11:51 GMT, 29 January 2013
Harry Redknapp is considering bringing in Peter Crouch to help save QPR.
It would be the FIFTH time that Redknapp has worked with the giant striker.
Crouch is currently at Stoke City but would consider a move back to the capital.
The pair first got together at Portsmouth in 2002 before being reunited at Southampton two years later.
In 2008, Redknapp paid ÂŁ9million to bring him back to Portsmouth and they later joined again at Tottenham.
Crouch, the 6ft 7in former England striker, is now on QPR's radar as they consider reinforcements ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.
Redknapp is desperate for more firepower up front and has already brought in Loic Remy from Marseille for ÂŁ8m.
With Djibril Cisse shipped out on loan to Qatar, Redknapp is eyeing more forwards to help save them from relegation to the Championship.
As well as Remy, he also has Bobby Zamora, Andy Johnson, Jay Bothroyd, DJ Campbell and Jamie Mackie.

QPR boss gives update on links with ex-Blackburn star and Stoke striker

Transfer news: Stokeâs Peter Crouch and former Blackburn centre-back Christopher Samba are both on QPRâs radar as Harry Redknapp looks to make some last-minute additions.
The Rs boss has spoken openly about his need to bring in reinforcements during the January transfer window if Rangers are going to stave off relegation.
QPR, bottom of the Premier League and five points adrift of safety, have so far this month brought in Marseille forward Loic Remy and defender Tal Ben Haim.
Redknapp is attending a work permit hearing today in the hope of pushing through a deal for Chunnam Dragons left-back Yun Suk-young, while he has admitted an interest in Crouch and Anzhi defender Samba.
âThese are two players whose names have been mentioned but at the moment weâre not close to doing anything,â he told BBC Sport.
âCrouchâs name came up in a meeting with the chairman but I donât think Stoke want to sell him.
âOn Samba, again the chairman is dealing with this. At this stage I donât think thatâs a goer.
âI like Christopher Samba and he is a very good player but at this stage I donât see him leaving Russia.
âThings can changes but at this stage weâre not close to doing anything.â
Samba moved to Russian side Anzhi last February, while Crouch had a spell at Loftus Road earlier in his career and previously played for Redknapp at Southampton, Portsmouth and Tottenham.

Fulham rebuff QPR approach for Hangeland Rs manager Harry Redknapp has targeted the Norway international as he steps up his search for a proven centre-back in the last days of the January transfer window

Fulham have rebuffed an approach from QPR for Brede Hangeland, Goal.comunderstands. The commanding centre-half has been targeted by Harry Redknapp, who is urgently trying to recruit at least one proven defender in the last days of the window.
DON'T MISS Jol: It would be silly to sell HangelandJol hopeful over Hangeland extension Redknapp: No QPR interest in HangelandHangeland close to new Fulham deal BET: RETURNS: Fulham ÂŁ22.00 Draw ÂŁ32.50 West Ham ÂŁ34.00 QPR are hoping to land Hangeland for a bargain fee after learning that he has still not signed the new contract offered by Fulham at the end of last year.
West Brom's Jonas Olsson and Porto's Rolando have also been on QPR's radar this month as manager Redknapp attempts to plug the gaps in his squad left by the exits of Ryan Nelsen, who has been appointed the new manager of MLS side Toronto, and Anton Ferdinand, who has joined Bursaspor on loan.
Hangelandâs current deal expires in the summer and he has indicated to the club that he will commit to the extended terms, which would bring him in line with top earners Mark Schwarzer and Dimitar Berbatov.
But the Norway international, who turns 32 in June, can sign a free transfer pre-contract agreement with a foreign club before Thursday nightâs deadline or push for a move to Loftus Road.
Nevertheless, the experienced defender, who joined Fulham in January 2008, is understood to be settled at Craven Cottage and unlikely to follow former colleagues Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson to Loftus Road.
Manager Martin Jol has said he is âoptimisticâ that Hangeland will take up the âgoodâ offer from the club.

The plot thickens. The Independent reports........
Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker joins Peter Crouch among QPR's transfer targets
As per usual, Harry Redknapp is amongst the busiest managers as the January transfer deadline looms, with Jamie Makie to be offered as part of the deal to sign Crouch
SAM WALLACE TUESDAY 29 JANUARY 2013
Harry Redknapp has offered Queenâs Park Rangers striker Jamie Mackie to Stoke City as part of the deal to sign Peter Crouch - the England striker and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Scott Parker are key targets for the relegation-threatened club.
Crouch has two years left on his contract at Stoke, where he is the best-paid player in the squad and leaving for a club that could be in the Championship next season is not without its risks. However, QPR is where he launched his professional career in 2000 and the prospect of going back to west London, where he grew up, is tempting.
Much will depend on whether Mackie, 27, who is in his third season at QPR can be persuaded to make the move to Stoke. Tony Pulis is understood to be open to a deal along those lines if Mackie is prepared to come the other way with a fee of around ÂŁ4m on top. Mackie's style of play is suited to the demands Pulis makes of his players.
For Crouch, originally from Ealing, and who still has a house in Surrey from his second spell at Portsmouth, it would be the tenth move of his professional career. He signed for QPR under Gerry Francis in 2000 having failed to break into the Spurs team as a trainee at the club. After some initial problems settling in, Crouch was the leading goalscorer as the club were relegated to what is now League One.
In the summer of 2001, Crouch was sold by QPR to Portsmouth, where Redknapp was director of football. Crouch's subsequent sale to Portsmouth in the summer of 2001, and the financial arrangements around the deal, were the subject of Redknapp's trial on two charges of tax evasion this time last year. He was acquitted.
Redknapp is trying to sign the former Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba, 28, from Anzhi Makhachkala. Ideally he would like Parker as well but QPR have alternatives given how difficult that deal could be to do with his former club Spurs. Parker, 32, has two years left on his contract after this season.
Lewis Holtby's arrival has reduced the pressure on Andre Villas-Boas' midfield options, following the injury to Sandro.
Fulham are still hopeful that they can sign Tom Huddlestone in the next two days but there is little chance of Spurs sanctioning the departure of him and Parker unless they can find replacements.
Should Crouch sign, it would be the tenth move of his professional career, including one loan, across eight clubs. That is not including the senior games he played on loan at Dulwich Hamlet and IFK Hasselholm in Sweden before he made his professional debut at QPR.
Crouch originally signed for QPR from Spurs 13 years ago for ÂŁ60,000, plus ÂŁ106,000 when he played 30 first team games and a 20 per cent of his sell-on fee to Portsmouth. He later joked that so desperate was he to play first team football he signed a contract for so little money that QPRâs then-secretary thought about getting the document framed.

Or better, rather than just the missing central defender Dragons, who this season has been no option to VĂtor Pereira and why should even accept the terms of the contract. It's the end of a novel that was already long. However, despite a positive start to his second season withe the Potters, injury and the form of team-mate Kenwyne Jones has restricted the 31-year-olds playing opportunites in recent weeks. Harry Redknapp, who worked with Crouch at Tottenham is now keen to link up with him again, after making an official enquiry to Stoke for the player, and Tony Pulis has stated that he is open to the idea of selling the former England international. Pulis told reporters "QPR have enquired about Peter, whether we do it or not youâll have to wait and see." "Harryâs rung me up and asked me about the possibility, Iâve spoken to Peter about it, he knows about it and itâs up to Peter as to whether he wants to go.
