Hi, I'm Tony from Essex. My Spurs supporting family made the mistake of taking me to my first game at Loftus Road, when Stanley Bowles was playing, and have been following the Rs ever since. Hey Tillbilly and a warm welcome. I am from Maldon, just down the road to you!

Hi all, I'm Leon .I live in Brisbane ,Australia now but am West London originally.Chiswick> ,then out to the sticks of Heston ,.Then on to Harlington .,before emigrating out here 5 years ago. Been QPR ever since my old man brought me down to the Bush in the early 70's.My first match was a 3 all draw against Stoke. So I was lucky enough to have a season ticket in the heady days of Stanley Bowles,Gerry Francis etc .We were Elersleigh Rd a bit below the TV stansion but nearer the Loft.I still remember listening to the Liverpool Wolves match on the radio with my Dad when they pipped us to the Title. Keep up with the R's on Fox Sport and the like now and must say am really excited about whats been happening lately. Cheers . Ozhoop..

That game would have been on September 8th 1973 and Rangers' goals were scored by Mick Leach, Terry Venables (pen) and Terry ("Henry") Mancini. Team: Parkes; Clement, Watson; Venables, Mancini, Hazell; Thomas, Francis, Leach, Bowles, Givens. Attendance 18,118 (and I was there too) (Statistics from QPR - The Complete Record) You just missed the Rodney Marsh days as he left us in 1972.

Your right I missed Rodney but the fella who got his number 10 shirt wernt too bad . Hi,
Thank you for all of the warm welcomes. Pleased/surprised to see so many Rs fans out in Essex, as I am constantly surrounded by fans of spurs, arsenal & west ham. Not hearing so much from them down the pub at the moment!

As my handle indicates my name is Robbie Fields, now living in Phuket, Thailand.
I saw the R's for the first time at a night match in 1965 or so, standing on a rubbish strewn South Africa Road terrace. The ground was little better than Southern League standard. The Loft was the most "advanced" part of the stadium.
I received a second introduction at the of the '69-'70 season by my good friends from Holland Park School, Julian d*** (goalkeeper turned actor) and Derek Ross (superb at 16, played for the youth team, then Walton and Hersham).
Well Rodney was on the pitch that day and I was hooked and have kept up him with over the years.
I am afraid to say I could not celebrate last year's success, not after reading in the Dave Thomas interview how former players have been so shabbily treated in recent years.
I am located in Tony Fernandes' part of the world and he's a stand up guy, so I am willing to climb on board again. But can someone check to see if Tony is aware of this particular shameful policy and whether he has changed it already?
I also just finished Stan's autobiography. My brothers and I had the best season tickets at Loftus Road, halfway up the new Ellerslie Road stand, so we were there for Stan's debut.
I'd say the best part of Stan's book are his extensive quotes from other footballer's books. I found the relentless re-telling of his (near) criminal behaviour a bit much. I also found it strange that he should print so many negative comments about Rodney. But fascinating finding out that Bowles and Givens had nothing in common off the pitch and all Stanley can say decades later is repeat some gossip from Luton Town. No mention of their being the best strike combination since Tostao and Pele in the 1970 World Cup.
A funny memory I have is playing football as a play leader with Don Shanks' much younger brother over at the primary school and the boy's telling me about his brother playing with Luton. Even stranger is learning that Stan lived for a while in the Shanks' family flat, across South Africa Road from the ground.

New to the message board. Use to live in Harlesden, now in leafy Surrey.. First game I remember going was 1974? We lost 0-1 and Ralph Coates got the winner. Started going full time in the 75/76 season and was hooked..(wasn't hard with that team). ;D

Hello! new to this; I am Steve from York. Have been a Hoops fan for 29 years, and try to get as many games as I can, and will be in the Upper Loft for tomorrow night's game- the travel down is long, but always worthwhile; I hail from West London originally- Mum from Hounslow, Dad from Ealing and I was brought up in Ashford near Staines and Twickenham. Moved oop north for work reasons and trying to convert my son to London footie- and succeeded! He's seven and supports Arsenal- ha ha- he'll learn. My wife, is a life long Leeds fan, but says she will get a season ticket at Loftus Road if Beckham signs LOL...

PS; my 40th birthday present will be watching the R's at the Emirates on New Year's Eve. Favourite old memory- 2-2 at Anfield in Milk Cup Semi - Ferriday's cross that went in off one of them; and recently memory has to be that goal against Cardiff last season... Favourite player of all time- Sir Les. One for the future- Faurlin is far better than he has looked so far this season.
