Judging by the comments of the players released so far it appears that are all leaving on good terms and in full understanding of why they have to go now for the benefit of their future careers and in the hope of better times for the club.
Maybe a co-incidence or maybe Nourry and Marti are more honest and better man managers than Fredinand and co.

Nourry's good bye and thank you to Hayden and Hodge on the offie does not sound like Hayden will be will coming back - pity but I expect money would be the problem even though Hayden has said he would like to stay with us.
Not holding my breath for Dozell to say thanks for everything

Arkell Jude-Boyd. Apparently released last Thursday! torquayunited.com/dean-arkell-get-the-yellow-armys-votes/ Torquay's young player of the season March Player of the Month & Goal of the Month torquayunited.com/jude-boyd-on-the-double-for-march/ April Player of the Month. Goal of the Season. I know it is only Torquay - but he is also out of contract at QPR next month. Another tricky decision... He was the one that Beale picked out as having a bright future but did not select him.

I think if we kept him he would be another "one for the future" and be out on loan or in the development squad next season. I expect we are trying to keep the squad size (and wage bill) down to make room for some experience and improvement in areas than defence where we now have fair cover. I think our priority is to make sure we avoid another relegation scrap next season and build from on more proven talent. - either way it's one of those damned if we do damned if we don't decisions . We stuck by people like Kakay, and Nico for many years and loans without them ever making the real breakthrough - maybe those days are over. Make the decision early out of fairness to the players to move on and build a career even in a lower league. We will get some decisions right and some wrong just as with transfers, that's life

Hopefully we hear news about Willock this week, one way or the other. The only out of contract player that I would us to try and keep. Unlikely as I expect keeping his options open for better offer and from a team more likely to challenge for promotion next season compared to us. He could well end up at Burnley as if Kompany stays as head coach, then I think they will bounce straight back.

It seems that several of the youngsters were released last week, of which AJ-B was one of them. But official announcement - no. It seems that to keep the interest going, we are getting an announcement a day, coupled with a proper send off and thank you. Fair enough - but Christian Nourry must soon run out of nice things to say.

Always looked unhappy - rarely smiling. But there again, he left his boyhood club - and then they won back-to-back promotions. Struggled to get into a losing QPR team. It is said that his dad called in a favour from his mate Mowbray, to bail his son out. Andre at last enjoying his football, but his saviour falls ill, Rowett bins him straight off. QPR start performing well without him. QPR move up the league. Birmingham relegated as he watches on. QPR decide not to take up the one-year option on his contract. No wonder he never looks happy...

Things really are changing. Pedder looks useful and scores a lot of goals, but he is very slight and may get bullied in the Championship. Anthony has a lot of pace and is still young. But the one that surprises me most is Nathan Jeche. He is the lad who was scoring for fun at Maidstone, and we went to great lengths to sign him after a trial. Lloyd has been given a new contract ahead of him, so Furlong must think he is the better bet, despite his injury record. But the Development Squad performed really well this season, but I guess the correct criteria has to be, will they ever make it in the Championship, the irony being that had we been relegated, they would have had a greater chance. It explains all the trialists of late I suppose.

I know we have payers leave each year but there are a couple in there I am a little surprised at. With Manisha and Paul Hall leaving too I am just wondering if we are going the Brentford route and having a B team rather than trying to produce youngsters in house?

Reading between the lines of the little that Nourry as openly discussed and some past comments from Marti makes me think we may head for the Brentford approach. It worked for them, reduced running costs and with the right data and interpretation of the data unheard of players have been picked up for nothing and either sold on for millions or built a promotion winning team
Of course the secret is to have the right processes and people in place to make that approach work.
I also think we are getting tougher in making decisions - if we do not think they will make it to Championship level in the next 2 seasons let them go and try again. Eye was a one in hundred thousand shot and that's probably what ir takes to find another.

Really don’t get why the Club have released Jude Boyd after he excelled last year. Other names I can understand but not this one. What more must youngsters do than go out for a season and excel, exactly what he has done. Bad move from the Club that will probably bite us on the bum.

Jude Boyd may have excelled last season - 18th in the National League South (Edit - the sixth tier of English football). Big difference to excelling or even breaking into in the Championship.
Decisions have to be made and one or 2 may be wrong but that's the risk with any decision.
If he goes on to do well elsewhere what have we lost unless he proves better than what we have or who we will sign, or the chance to sell him later. We certainly could not sell him now maybe just some junior compensation and would need to sign him up for a couple of years at least if we wanted to be able to sell him if he develops. if he does not develop we are paying someone for no return.
While he is being released at the end of his contract does anyone know if he wanted to stay or did he see he was too far down the pecking list and would do better moving on. It takes 2 to tango.

Eye was a one in hundred thousand shot and that's probably what ir takes to find another. I have had similar thoughts. Some of the players we have released suggests that the change is fundamental. We have invested heavily in a training facility. We have made statements about the academy, and there has been open debate about the possibility of moving to the top category, But that step up is a big one. It involves more of a college/uni approach, and we would have to provide sleeping accommodation for the students and all that goes with it. Even then, with so many Prem clubs within singing distance, we would still run the risk of losing anyone spotted as having high potential. So perhaps, instead of ramping it up, recognise the probability of success and resource to that model. Ferdinand, Ramsay and Taylor were the pioneers of Warren Farm / Heston - they have gone as have many others. I have read a load of vitriol directed at the departing coaches, and questions like 'what did they ever produce for the first team?' Some of it is fair, but they have only just started working with the new facilities. There have been a lot of coaching departures, with no replacements announced. The medical & fitness team on the other hand can point to a fantastic season with their new facilities. It will take time for Heston to pay back regarding the academy, but I sense that the number of trialists from Prem clubs represents a step change as we search for perhaps not another Eze, but maybe an Illias Chair or Jimmy Dunne.

The daily update - worth waiting for, just to read what Nourry had to say about a player who has made a rich living out of not playing football games. Love it! Jordan's infectious enthusiasm and support of the first-team playing group over the course of the campaign was pleasing to see. "We had good conversations throughout my time here and wish Jordan the best as he looks to challenge for playing time elsewhere."

Perhaps we should have run a prediction league competition to guess who the following day's announcement will be LOL. We still have 8 to Go: Willock, Armstrong, Begovic, Gubbins, Mahoney, Walsh, Dukes-McKenna & Dixon-Bonner! So far 15 released.

We still have 8 to Go: Willock, Armstrong, Begovic, Gubbins, Mahoney, Walsh, Dukes-McKenna & Dixon-Bonner! So far 15 released. I suspect those released to date have very much been the clubs decisions , and obviously the few who have extended have been wanted by the club The 8 names above are a mixture of cases I think and will also be decided by who we can manage to sign. Releasing players early is the easiest part (apart from emotions) . Getting new faces in is harder and the window is not even open yet so all we could hear about is pre-contract agreements and some of the 8 above such as Willock may already have them elsewhere. Of the 8 above: Willock - probably hanging out for a better offer from elsewhere unless he has already signed up a deal but we would be hopeful and willing to keep him at the right wage. I would expect we are in talks with Armstrong re extending with an issue of how much playing time he will get as opposed to off the bench cameos or a loan out. Begovic and Walsh I expect to stay - just a question of when they sign. Mahoney and Gibbons and Dukes- McKenna will probably want to leave to get game time rather than being fringe players and I can only see us wanting to kept them to fill up the bench. We will want to keep Dixon-Bonner and negotiations are probably again around playing time and waiting to see who else if anyone we sign in his position or who leaves. Most contracts run to June 30 I believe, so with holidays pending I am not expecting too many announcements soon but it would be nice to get some new faces in the door early especially up front. The window goes to September so a long way to go and patience needed and we can expect the usual last minute shopping sprees. Getting our business right rather than getting it done quickly is the most important.

I think that most decisions are already signed and sealed. Walsh was talking positively about next season for example. Not so sure about Begovic, or if he has been offered something, he wants more. Too much click bait linking him to high profile teams - agent ramping up the pressure to improve terms maybe? We may have offered terms for him as a back-up rather than a starter. But clearly, there is a plan to retain interest by releasing daily snippets. I quite like that tbh.

Clearly we are looking at flooding the development squad with u18 or those now a season too old but still in contract. Expect a thinner squad overall but hopefully more experience and quality in that but we would need to be lucky with injuries. I think there are some good buys to be had in L1 and L2, particularly from teams that got knocked out in the play-offs, and with Marti's knowledge of the leagues he has worked in, a few from overseas in the Andersen and Frey ilk. Frey could be useful next season with a proper pre-season behind him.

Not great surprise and in my book a good move. We had far too many of these "fringe: or :one for the future" players that were going to take us nowhere. We now have some headcount free and wages are down - albeit by not so much and we have a core of experience in the squad. So the next step is to get in a few more solid pro's and younger experienced talent to take us forward. I would hope that we have names lined up or at least shortlisted before letting everyone go. Only a few out of contracts undecided now and I expect discussions have been made on Mahoney and Gibbons already - now the wait to see if we sell anyone and how many and who we bring in. Eze money now would be perfect timing to build a squad with a fighting chance but doubt that would happen until late in the window which is not even open yet. Interesting to see that Stoke have agreed a transfer to sign the Rotherham Keeper "when the window opens" Pre contract agreement I suppose but a new way of wording it.

Yeah, we see some of these players in short cameos from the subs. bench and they look quite useful. Then they get a start, and they are invisible. Dukes-McKenna could be aggressive, winning the ball back, always close to a caution (a younger Colback) but I think that players need a run of games to establish themselves, and rarely get it. So, loans can be far more beneficial. We stuck with the same set of about 19 players for the last three months, managers have no margin to take risks when in a relegation or promotion battle. Dixon-Bonner always looks useful when we see him and he is still young, He and Kolli the best of the development crop, but so hard to judge if they will ever make the big time. I have high hopes for Kolli. In Dukes-McKenna's case, a loan to Sutton hardly enhanced his chances of gaining a new QPR contract. Part of a team that was playing much better towards the end, but still relegated out of the league, he had a couple of man of the match awards, scored a blinding goal, but still found himself on the Sutton bench or hooked at times. And that says it all really.
