Significant though because we apparently hold a one year option on Dozzell. If we are freeing up an expensive wage to bring in replacements then fine. It shows how close we are to the FFP threshold. But if it is necessary to release players to raise money for FFP then the club has accepted relegation to survive in the medium term. We are so light in midfield, Field one card away from a 2 match ban, Colback a red card waiting to happen etc. Birmingham are one of a few clubs who are not in FFP trouble due to the Bellingham cash so could afford to purchase, but if we are not going to extend him (in the third tier) then they get him for nothing in the Summer. If no replacement, then the next few weeks and months will be grim. On balance, I expect a replacement.

A bit of an odd one but as long as we get a replacement, that will improve first team, then ok with this. Not been convinced by Dozzell and feel Dixon-Bonner has much more potential. Maybe Marti has seen something in Aoraha and Peddar that makes them regular members of the squad, but that would also be accepting L1 if they need to step up regularly when one or both of Field and Colback are injured or suspended. Current options for the 2 deeper centre midfielders in the 4-3-3 that Marti plays are now: Field, Colback, Dixon-Bonner, Duke-McKenna, Aoraha, Peddar, Paal - they probably think we have enough cover in terms of quantity but not necessarily quality.
What has happened to Richards???

What has happened to Richards??? Aoraha is injured , and Richards is.....who knows? There must ne one hell of a backstory here one day. But the January window is pretty daft. It coincides with the African Nations Cup, so all the top sides are missing players and having to utilise fringe players. I think the windows should operate: June 1st to August 1st and December 1st to February 8th. I agree that Dixon-Bonner is the better prospect - but again out of contract in the Summer. Pedder has talent, but like Chair has a slight build. Perhaps the loan fee (or fully paid wages) is the most we could hope for and not much different to his sales value. His nickname of Casper says it all.

The c£20m fine we got has zero impact on the FFP calculations as I believe excluded and we took must of the cost in the year the fine was confirmed.
It hurts our cash flow as must pay over 10 years but in the accounting world, cash does not equal profit/loss. It is being funded by owners lending cash to the club each year, where they then end up swapping that loan to shares so our balance sheet does not look as bad as it really is.
Unfortunately clubs like us our hindered by FFP indefinitely (or until someone changes the rules). We lose c£12m-£15m per year on run rate basis with no player trading, maybe even worse, so we essentially need to make an Eze type sale every 3-4 years just to stay out of trouble. Depressing but they are the facts. Our only way forward to improve is sell on fee from Eze’s next move but knowing our luck, he will probably move on a free at end of contract!!

1. Tim I in to replace Dozzell - good if it comes off. Only worry for me is that some Brum local papers say Brum are strapped for cash until the summer and they think they got Dozzy for no loan fee and that we are even still paying his wages. Cannot believe that is true or that loan makes no sense for us, unless there is a Richards type obligation to buy for 500k at the end of season.
2. FFP (a) To rangersman - FFP never ends - it is a standing regulation. (b) To Harr - FFP issues now have nothing to do with our previous fine which is being paid in annual instalments and those payments are excluded from FFP calculations. Even if we were not paying the fine our FFP numbers would be exactly the same as they are. (c) To Hitmanrangers - spot on plus a bit extra below. FFP is based on the rolling 3 year total of operating losses - if we exceed the allowed losses for the 3 season period we get either fined, transfer embargo, points deduction - which may be harsher in our case as we would be second time offenders. (d) The reason we are so tight this year, apart from the fact that we have been losing money every week, is that the first year of this 3 year period included the deluded high cost of Austin Johansen and expensive loans etc in the 21-22 season. By keeping a very tight budget this year the 21-22 season larger loss will be wiped out from the calculations for next season"s FFP, to be replaced by a smaller loss this season. We should in theory be in a slightly better FFP position for next season . We still will not be able to splash the cash and may even have to continue as now for another season until the cost of Beale and his loans and recent manager pay offs get wiped from the FFP calculation. End of the day are a high cost low income club in a loss making operating situation which leaves us relying on youth and hoping for wise transfer dealings to make some money. Apart from the Yoyo clubs there are few in the Championship who are not either already in the same situation or are heading that way. Take a look at the completed transfers this window and try to spot any big money or even free signings by Championship clubs - not many.

Difficult one to work out. No goals in 15 games on loan in the German top flight this season and it seems Schalke do not want to take up the option to buy. Prior to that 2 to 3 seasons in the Belgian top league with a goal scoring record we have not seen since the goods days of Charlie Austin. The article (for those who do not understand the language) says little about him other than he is joining us, so who knows. Maybe click bait, maybe the unknown hero who will come in and score 15 in 20 games or maybe a useless journeyman but he does have some experience in decent leagues. Probably cannot be worse than what we have in goal scoring terms in the short term but does not fit the pattern for a long term signing. Maybe a cheap loan to end of season.

Not my words, I stole this off a QPR FB Page. Ignore the Frey loan, he’s at Schalke on loan with Antwerp the parent club
……
So it looks like we are signing the 29 year old Swiss striker michi frey his goal stats I've seen show that for Royal Antwerp he is on loan to is 33 goals in 69 games
We are also looking at signing another 2 players CDM - Jonathan Varane L'Equipe report that QPR are keen to bring Jonathan Varane to Loftus Road on a loan-to-buy deal from Sporting de Gijón. The 22-year-old is the brother of Manchester United star Raphael Varane.
CDM - James Lea-Siliki The Evening Standard link QPR with the free agent who has played for Rennes, Middlesbrough and, most recently, Estoril in Portugal.

He’s never recovered from a nightmare partnership with Dickie last season. Get him gone and risk seeing out the season with CB covered by JCS, Cook, Fox and Field can step back if necessary

They may no longer need Jimmy now.

It would be a pity to end the window without some QPR speculation so :
Villa apparently signing Morgan Rogers from Boro for 8million plus add ons to 16 million. Boro likely will come in late for Willock to replace him. - that way at least we might get a couple of thousand for him if true.
