Yeah we need something Saturday, minimum point hopefully three but something. I just hope the two Plymouth points dropped don’t haunt our season, the other game that hurts is 86 minutes 1 up at Sheff Weds and lost in 86 and 90+4 Small margins

More like the 4-0 thrashing at Watford was the turning point - put Ainsworth straight into "I'll keep this team up" after match drivel and destroyed the team for the first third of the season. Good job done to to claw our way back to where we are.

I guess it’s probably our biggest game Saturday for quite some seasons. Lose it probably means with Leeds and Coventry to follow we will be a favourite to go down if the others pick up wins at the weekend.

Any two from seven. Millwall now safe.
If Sheff Weds lose tomorrow we should be safe. If they draw or win we may need another point.
If Hudds win next week, that means Hudds won’t catch unless we get two heavy defeats and neither can Birmingham. A draw in that game means Hudds can’t catch us but if we lost to Leeds and Cov , Birmingham beat Norwich and they can pip us on goal difference.
We could do with Huddersfield beating Birmingham as they won’t win at Ipswich.
Plymouth - Fixtures: Millwall (a), Hull (h)
Blackburn - Fixtures: , Sheffield Wednesday (h), Coventry (h), Leicester (a)
Birmingham - Fixtures: Huddersfield (a), Norwich (h)
QPR - Fixtures: , , Leeds (h), Coventry (a)
Huddersfield - Fixtures:, , Birmingham (a), Ipswich (h)
Stoke - Fixtures: , Southampton (a), Bristol City (h)
Sheffield Wednesday - , Blackburn (a), West Brom (h), Sunderland (a)

Looks like things may go down to the wire after. Wednesday 3-1 up and possibly the most bizarre own goal I've ever seen!

Any 2 from 7 now to fill the last 2 places. Huddersfield to beat Brum next week would be good. Blackburn could struggle to get any more points , so could we and Plymouth. I'm getting too old for this !

4 point gap to Birmingham now and with the same GD. A whole different picture now.

Wow, both us and Sheff Weds outside of the drop zone given we have spent most of the season in it! Think Sheff Weds will be safe and get one more win. Very confident we will be fine even without another point. Still 4 teams below us trying to avoid that last spot since Huddersfield can’t go above us, so just need to match one of them. If Huddersfield and Birmingham draw next week, against each other, they could very well relegate themselves! Of course would be nice to avoid any dramas on our last game so a win on Friday would be good!

If they draw we still need a point as there goal difference will be better than ours if we lose to Leeds we would need a point off Cov in case Birmingham beat Norwich We want a Huddersfield win and that ends it or a Sheff Weds defeat to WBA, who still need points for play offs

Updated Still any two from seven to join Rotherham, after Sheffield Weds winning Sunday If we don’t get any points Friday. Need A) Huddersfield to beat Birmingham , B) WBA to beat Sheff Weds, either of these happen we will be safe even if we lost to Coventry (Providing we don’t get thumped in both our games) Plymouth , Blackburn and Stoke all losing Saturday would help, as many as these losing Saturday all helps our cause. Hull beating Coventry I feel is better for us, puts more pressure on WBA to get points and kills off Coventry play off interest. Plymouth - Millwall (a), Hull (h) Blackburn - Coventry (h), Leicester (a) Birmingham - Huddersfield (a), Norwich (h) QPR - Leeds (h), Coventry (a) Huddersfield - Birmingham (a), Ipswich (h) Stoke - Southampton (a), Bristol City (h) Sheffield Wednesday - West Brom (h), Sunderland (a

Just a thought. Leeds are playing tonight and then they come to us on Friday night. Given that they have 2 away matches so close together, could that be an advantage to us?

After Leeds have beaten us on Friday if all those other results on the Saturday go against us we are in trouble

Yes that might happen?
But we have a chance A) Hudds beat Birmingham and B) WBA beat Sheff Weds
No if those don’t happen we need something from Coventry game
Then of course to make it not just a final place space between us Birmingham and Sheff Weds Saturday week , any of Stoke Plymouth or Blackburn losing helps.
Plymouth away at Millwall , they could lost that. Stoke away at Southampton, it’s possible they lose that heavier than we lose to Leeds If Blackburn were to lose at Home to Coventry they have to travel to Leicester next week.
I would rather be in our position than Huddersfield’s, Birminghams, Sheffields , Blackburns and Plymouths We have points on the board.
We may not need any more points, we may need 1 more point or we may need three more points.
It will be a lot clearer by 5 PM SATURDAY

Just a thought. Leeds are playing tonight and then they come to us on Friday night. Given that they have 2 away matches so close together, could that be an advantage to us? For sure. let’s face it, Blackburn beat Leeds last week so we know we just have to battle and try to sneak a point. if we get a point then Hudds v Birmingham , the only outcome we don’t want is Birmingham win

If we can play like we did against West Brom at home, the last home game that I felt we played our best 90 mins of this season, then we can beat Leeds and enjoy the summer!

After Leeds have beaten us on Friday if all those other results on the Saturday go against us we are in trouble Leeds beating us isn't a given. It's that time of the season when teams vying for automatic promotion struggle to get over the line. Happens most seasons, happened to us in 2011 iirc.

Harr has listed the run in for the 7 possible relegation candidates and all have to play against at least one team chasing promotion or play offs but as Marc says with 2 games left this is the time when the totally unpredictable Championship becomes even more unpredictable.
Looking at those games I can imagine any of Plymouth Blackburn Stoke and Huddersfield not getting another point . Sheff Wed will probably get carried to another win by their fans but could also freeze. If Huddersfield do get a win it is likely against Brum so we would be happy.
I am not putting on the curse by forecasting our results - could be zero points could be 6. Coventry may be on a complete downer after yesterday but that could also spur them on
In other words - no idea what will happen and not holding my breath waiting. What will be will be - but just hope we are not dragged down after all the hard work to get where we are.
The difference in mood between last Saturday night and a win that seemed to put us safe and the Blackburn give away yesterday that puts 7 teams back in the mix is incredible. Not only for R's fans but all the other clubs and the 4 at the top of the league are in the same boat of uncertainty.
A couple of days ago I posted that it would go down to last day and goal difference and I still think that. I also said one mistake or moment of brilliance will be the deciding factor. Well Blackburns keeper certainly gave the mistake - in fact two. So maybe a Willock or Chair moment of brilliance is next up - I hope

Thankfully whatever the result Cov v Hull tonight still means WBA will be needing points Saturday for play offs so should be up for the Sheff Weds game
You kind of think that Norwich will be over the line before they play Birmingham last game which is a bit of a shame. If Coventry don’t keep winning our game won’t mean anything to them in terms of play offs for them. Hopefully they will be tired by the time of playing us. Coventry now play 4 matches in 10 days , Weds, Sat, Tues , Sat , ours being the last .
For us Friday , if we can sneak a point amazing but if we lose it’s all about damage limitation, lose by 1-2 goals and not 5.

I was hoping that Stoke would lose their last 2 and we could at least get above them on goal difference - especially if Southampton give them a good hammering this weekend. But having read the Southampton managers comments after last nights game I have lost most of that hope. For their manager to come out publicly and accuse his players after conceding the second goal "After that there was no togetherness, no character, no fight." does not bode well . With Southampton now effectively safe in the play offs and out of automatic promotion I expect Stoke may turn them over especially if Southampton field a weakened team saving players for the play-offs. On the other hand I could be wrong ............and if we beat Leeds

We could do with Blackburn losing at home to Cov as I can’t see them winning at Leicester Likewise Plymouth losing to Millwall as think they may struggle to beat Hull So we have possible favours to ask on these games, as well as Stoke as you say but I think our loss might be bigger than Stokes. We just need Huddersfield to beat Birmingham or WBA to beat Sheff Weds, surely one of these could come in

Well it certainly is not dull and is interesting to speculate on all the various possibilities.
Bottom line to me though is still:
1. We still have our fate in our own hands or
2. If we mess up it will mean a number of other clubs results all going against us to see us go down or
3. Sods law after overcoming the Ainsworth farce to get to 50 points everything goes wrong in the last 2 games and down we go.
We will soon find out but meanwhile - "Don't Panic Captain Mainwaring"

Good posts and decent sentiments there Harr and Robindubois.
I wrote the Leeds game off as certain defeat even before we played Hull and Preston and there is no way I am going to change my opinion at the time of posting. Sorry I cant see anything other than a Leeds victory over us and strangely enough I wont be that down hearted if we lose as expected on Friday.....Please let me be wrong though!
I am now purely focused for Saturday on Sheff Wed v WBA and Huddersfield v The Peaky Blinders.

Hull beat Cov Coventry play off dream al but over unless they win all three games and WBA and Norwich don’t get another point. Looking like when we play them they can’t qualify. Meanwhile Hull put put pressure on the other two , Hopefully WBA put in a good performance against Sheff Weds and possibly Norwich still need something at Birmingham if it goes to last game.

More like the kiss of death especially if the players think that way. I can imagine a few fans having a small wager on that at 50/1. Great for the fans if we stay up and lose a couple of quid, pays for a season ticket or replica shirt if we go down.
