WBA form a bit like Bournemouths, lost 2-0 at home, remain 3 pts behind us and we have game in hand All we need to do is win our game in hand and then beat Blackburn away. But we are on such a terrible run at the moment - fancy only drawing against Swansea - relegation form I'm told ! But this is the Championship. Not a gambling man but apart from Barnsley going down and Fulham going up (that hurts) I would not bet on anything. The top 6 appears to a race between the current top 8 but then Sheffield Utd have plenty of games in hand and could burst through and Stoke could join the pack if they get a bit more consistent. Apart from that I will become an Egypt fan for the day on Sunday - a win for them will send Chair home to us.

WBA form a bit like Bournemouths, lost 2-0 at home, remain 3 pts behind us and we have game in hand Will WBA press panic and sack the manager? Or will they spend a fortune like Bournemouth? Play-offs really not good enough for WBA though with their squad and spend. Johnstone misses WBA loss due to disciplinary issues West Brom head coach Valerien Ismael revealed England goalkeeper Sam Johnstone missed the 2-0 home defeat to Preston through disciplinary issues on a night when supporters turned on the Frenchman. Johnstone failed to make the squad after a three-match ban and was replaced by David Button. “We had a matter, an issue in the squad and have solved the problem,” said Ismael. “He was not in the squad tonight and he will not be in the squad on Saturday but after that he will be involved. It will stay internal.” Albion failed to create a single effort on target and fans chanted for Slaven Bilic, one of Ismael’s predecessors and the last man to lead the club to the Premier League. SkySportsNewsI reckon the WBA is probably one or two games from the sack, if they drop out the top six, think it will be curtains.

I don’t think WBA are left in the Cup which means WBAs next two fixtures away to Millwall and Sheff Utd, you wouldn’t want those if a manager under pressure.

Yeap they are out of the cup - I suppose that gives them one advantage in fixture congestion. But after Sheff. Utd they have Blackburn at home Luton and Middlesborough away followed by Swansea at home all in February. They may well be out of the top 6 by the end of next month. In fact looking at the congested fixture lists for February the table at the end of the Feb is going to be interesting to see. Lots of key matches at both ends of the table and plenty of scope for shock results.

Manager will definitely be gone in Feb then. Bournemouths lucky day this weekend, they have Barnsley…. You can bet by the time we play Barnsley they will find some form before middle of Feb… #therangersway

Forest are said to have rejected £18m from Brentford for Johnson. An excellent player but I dread to think how many players Forest will sign with all that money!

An interesting situation - I have seen a couple of reports (maybe click bait) that Forest will sell for 20 million, some say to buy yet more new players, some say to avoid FFP problems. Then others say they will not sell at any price as he is key to their promotion/play off hopes.

Carroll close to WBA deal Andy Carroll is having a medical at West Bromwich Albion this morning, ahead of him potentially signing a short term deal until the end of the season.
Albion want further cover for striker Daryl d*** who is facing at least two months on the sidelines with a muscle injury.
Carroll is a free agent after leaving Reading SSNews

What are the chances of Carroll lasting any longer than Daryl D. He is a free agent but wages must still be reasonably high.
WBA could end up paying 2 expensive strikers for not playing much this season.

That's not saying West Brom have got the same deal but I wouldn't imagine they will be paying top end either.

Take a look at Blackburns picture list for February ! Their fixtures look tough as well. Blackburn v QPR on the 26th could be massive. Sort of wish it wasn't on tv though.

Urrrrrrg - auto correct strikes again. As you say a massive game, coming at the end of a tough and congested set of fixtures for both sides. Depth and strength of squad will play a part.

Derby 2-0 down with 3 minutes to go, manage to score 2 very late goals to draw 2-2
Cardiff announced Jordan Hugill on loan earlier today. He scored 6 minutes into his debut. They're 1-0 v Forest at HT.

Transfer deadline day when crazy deals are struck with clubs panicking about relegation, promotion or FFP. I know Sunderland got thrashed on Saturday, but to sack Lee Johnson when 3rd and they had a good (lucky!) cup run.... crazy times. Cardiff sell Moore to Bournemouth for less than half of what they paid for him (they could have paid as much as much as £10m and Bournemouth are apparently only paying £3.5m) and have signed Hugill on loan. Poor Cardiff business. Short term planning... Bournemouth also signing Todd Cantwell and Dembelle it seems. Meanwhile, Charlie Goode who chose Brentford over QPR is on his way to Sheffield United for his medical. When he rejected us, we had to compromise and buy Rob Dickie instead. Swansea seem to think the Paterson situation is now competitive - I think we would use him more as a striker than a winger / midfielder. I am not fussed if we get him or not tbh. We have 10s - Chair could even return on the bench - Willock of foe EFL Player of the Month in his absence. Funny ol' game Saint.

Bournemouth seem to be pumping Millions for Auto promotion spot. Bournemouth are hoping to sign Liverpool defender Nat Phillips on loan until the end of the season.

WBA Manager as I suspected wouldn’t make it beyond the Sheff Utd game, in fact only made it to the Millwall one.

I think it was 5 points in the League, in there last 7 matches, including a draw with Barnsley, writing was on the wall with a little run like that with teams owners expecting top two. let’s face it WBA have been hanging on to top 6 by a thread. Remember we have seen it all before, Derby sacked Clement in 5th place , 5 points off the top, some way to go to beat that one again.
