From The Sun a few weeks ago. www.thesun.co.uk/sport/14910458/aston-villa-neil-taylor-transfer-stoke-qpr/Aston Villa left-back Neil Taylor wanted by Stoke, QPR and two Turkish clubs in free transfer this summerPhilip Cadden 16:15, 10 May 2021 Updated: 16:15, 10 May 2021 NEIL TAYLOR is wanted by Championship duo Stoke and QPR as well as two Turkish clubs. The Aston Villa left-back, 32, is out of contract with Dean Smith's side this summer. Both Stoke and QPR have expressed their interest in the Wales 43-cap defender. But the EFL clubs face competition from Istanbul Basaksehir and Trabzonspor in Turkey for his services on a free transfer. Taylor has made just one Premier League appearance for Villa this season, a 15-minute substitute appearance in the 2-0 away defeat to Manchester City in January. He has been at Villa since 2017 following a move from Swansea where he made his name. Taylor played for Great Britain in the London 2012 Olympic Games and was a big part of Wales' Euro 2016 run to the semi-finals under Chris Coleman.

....and Taylor officially released. From Aston Villa's Offie. www.avfc.co.uk/news/2021/may/Elmohamady-Taylor-and-Heaton-depart/Elmohamady, Taylor and Heaton departBy Aston Villa FC Aston Villa can confirm the departures of Ahmed Elmohamady, Neil Taylor and Tom Heaton. The popular trio, who are each out of contract at Villa Park this summer, move on with the very best wishes of everyone at the club. Elmohamady joined in the summer of 2017 and has made 129 appearances over the course of the past four seasons, scoring four goals. He played a huge part in the club’s promotion-winning campaign, with his superb cross providing Villa’s crucial opener in the play-off final triumph over Derby County at Wembley. The Egypt international’s fine right-wing delivery also helped secure dramatic last-gasp semi-final success in the Carabao Cup in 2019/20, sending the club back to Wembley where Elmohamady started the showpiece final against Manchester City. Taylor was another of Villa’s key performers in 2018/19, also starting all three play-off matches to help guide the club back to the Premier League.
The left-back, who was in the matchday squad for the League Cup final, arrived at Villa Park in January 2017 and made 103 appearances.Heaton joined in the summer of 2019 following the club’s return to the top flight. The experienced goalkeeper immediately impressed as he started the first 20 Premier League matches, only to suffer knee ligament damage on New Year’s Day in 2020 and see his debut season cruelly cut short. Heaton made a full recovery and has returned to Villa’s matchday 20 for the second half of this season. Ahmed, Neil and Tom depart the club having been hugely admired, both in the dressing room and among supporters, and have been fantastic servants on and off the pitch. Everyone at Aston Villa wishes them all the very best for the future!

Marcondes has struggled for regular game time this season, with only 12 of his 31 Championship appearances coming as starts. But the 26-year-old was influential in helping Brentford get over the line and reach the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, producing a man-of-the-match display in the play-off final at Wembley. Marcondes scored the second goal in the Bees’ 2-0 victory over Swansea, on an afternoon where they reached the Premier League for the first time in their history. The midfielder is out of contract in the summer, though, and told the Daily Mail that he is unsure about whether a new deal will come his way. He said: “ I have been hoping and waiting for a new contract for a long time. But I have kept my concentration on the training and on the pitch, and to focus on what I can control.“ I can’t control a new contract. Of course, I hope to play Premier League, it’s my biggest dream. To come from a small town in Denmark and reach the Premier League would be unbelievable.” Ahead of the January transfer window, Marcondes was linked with moves to Norwich City, Queens Park Rangers and Nottingham Forest, and if he is to be let go, it remains to be seen whether any of those clubs look to bring him in on a free.

From HampshireLive. Apparently Portsmouth are not interested in Todd Kane. www.hampshirelive.news/sport/football/portsmouth-danny-cowley-players-linked-5473473Three players linked with Portsmouth transfer not currently on Danny Cowley’s radarPortsmouth have already been credited with an interest in various players across the Premier League and the English Football League, but three of them are not genuine targets at present By Jonty Colman Portsmouth FC writer 10:18, 30 MAY 2021 Portsmouth have been linked with a number of players so far ahead of the summer transfer window. The window, which opens officially on June 9, is expected to be a busy one for the Blues, with only 13 players contracted to Pompey ahead of next season. At present, at least ten players have been linked with a move to Fratton Park already in a variety of positions and from teams across all four of England’s professional leagues. HampshireLive understands that although several reports have linked players from other clubs with a move to the south coast, not all of those players are currently being monitored by the Blues. Pompey have recently been linked with defenders Todd Kane and Jacob Bedeau and striker Guy Melamed. However, it is understood that none of the trio are currently being monitored by the Blues.Right-back Kane of Queens Park Rangers was linked recently with the Blues, Charlton Athletic, and Sunderland by London News Online, despite already having three senior right-backs at the club at present.

From Team Talk www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-middlesbrough-chuks-aneke-transfer-championshipEXCLUSIVE: Middlesbrough among more than six chasing ex-Arsenal manDate published: Tuesday 1st June 2021 7:58 - Graeme Bailey Middlesbrough are among more than half a dozen Championship clubs to have made an offer for Charlton forward Chuks Aneke, TEAMtalk understands. The ex-Arsenal man developed in the Gunners’ youth ranks, before leaving on a free transfer to Belgium. The 27-year-old spent two years at Zulte Waregem, before moving back to England with MK Dons in 2016. After three years in Milton Keynes, though, he moved to Charlton in the summer of 2019. Aneke struggled to make an impact in his first season, scoring one goal in 20 Championship appearances. However, he has flourished since dropping down to League One, netting 15 goals in 38 outings. As a result, TEAMtalk understands that a host of second-tier clubs are looking to bring him back to the Championship. Middlesbrough are among them, while Reading, Coventry, Queens Park Rangers and Bristol City also in the hunt. Aneke has also received interest from clubs in America and Scotland. However, the forward believes that a return to the Championship could eventually lead to him playing in the Premier League. In any case, he will become a free agent this summer after turning down Charlton’s offer of a new deal. Aneke made one first-team Arsenal appearance during his time with the Gunners, playing a minute against Shrewsbury in the League Cup during the 2011/12 season. For the majority, he spent time out on loan at Preston, Crewe Alexandra and Stevenage. Amid his travels across England, he progressed through the Three Lions’ youth ranks. He scored 33 goals in 94 games for MK Dons and has 17 overall for Charlton in two seasons.

The former Aston Villa man joined Rangers last year with it clear that he was massively excited to be playing for his local club, something that supporters reciprocated with their reaction to his arrival. However, unfortunately for Adomah, he didn’t get to play too much football over the course of the following season for the Hoops with him limited to just seven starts in the second tier and largely featuring from the bench. The first half of the campaign saw the likes of Ilias Chair and Bright Osayi-Samuel ahead of him in the pecking order for those wide positions that he likes to operate in, whilst a move to a 3-5-2 from Mark Warburton around Christmas time meant other players in the squad were more compatible to the system and therefore got more of an opportunity. Indeed, this all said, Football League World has learned that he is currently weighing up his options with the likes of Bristol City, Ipswich, Derby, Luton Town and Birmingham City all interested in signing him if he decides it’s already time to move on from west London.

From WLS www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-confirm-austin-signing-and-look-to-tie-up-johansen-dealQPR confirm signing of Austin on two-year dealBy West London Sport 02/06/2021 QPR have confirmed the signing of Charlie Austin. The striker, who turns 32 next month, has agreed a two-year contract. Austin returned for a second spell at the club when he was brought in on loan from West Brom in January. He has since been released by the Baggies at the end of his contract after they opted not to take up an option to extend his deal by a year. A hugely popular figure among fans from his first stint at Loftus Road, Austin scored eight goals during his recent loan spell. Along with Stefan Johansen, he was instrumental in Rangers enjoying an excellent second half of the season. QPR are looking to agree the permanent signing of Johansen from Fulham, where the Norwegian has a year remaining on his contract. Signing him would mean Rangers agreeing deals for all four of the loanees who helped transform the team’s fortunes after arriving, with Jordy de Wijs and Sam Field having already completed permanent moves. Rangers are also keen to bring in a right-back and a back-up goalkeeper this summer.

From The 72 the72.co.uk/238056/johansen-to-qpr-does-recent-fulham-announcement-suggest-permanent-rs-switch/JOHANSEN TO QPR: DOES RECENT FULHAM ANNOUNCEMENT SUGGEST PERMANENT RS SWITCH?Luke Phelps @lukephelps72 2 Days Ago Fulham announced their retained list last night but QPR-linked Stefan Johansen didn’t feature on it. Johansen, 30, has a year left on his Fulham contract and with the option to extend it by a further year. Though the Norway man didn’t feature on the club’s retained list and it’s got one or two fans thinking that the midfielder could now be on his way to QPR in a permanent deal. QPR have not hidden the fact that they want to bring Johansen back to the club ahead of next season. He shone during his loan spell in the second half of the season just gone and Rs fans really warmed to his performances in midfield. Yesterday, West London Sport reported that QPR were in talks with Fulham regarding a potential transfer and Fulham’s retained list might be a hint that Scott Parker’s side are resigned to losing him to their west London neighbours. For the Whites it’d be a huge blow – Johansen proved at QPR that he’s a player with real quality but for too long he was overlooked at Craven Cottage, and he’s since become a cult hero at QPR. Thoughts?QPR completing this signing would mean that all four of the loan quartet that came in over January and turned the club’s season would all be permanent figures. Charlie Austin, Jordy de Wijs and Sam Field are all now at QPR on a permanent basis and fans are waiting eagerly on Johansen to be confirmed. At one point it seemed unlikely but things seem to be falling into place now.

www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/40407/qpr-leading-chase-for-dozzellQPR Leading Chase For Dozzell Sunday, 6th Jun 2021 13:43 TWTD understands QPR are leading the chase for Blues midfielder Andre Dozzell. Last month, Town boss Paul Cook told virtually everyone in the current squad that they can move on this summer, including Dozzell, 22, who only signed a new contract which runs to June 2024 in December. TWTD revealed in February that QPR were also keeping tabs on the former England U20 international and the West Londoners look set to firm up that interest in the next few weeks. Blackburn Rovers had an offer for Dozzell rejected by the Blues in January 2020 and, as previously reported, former Blues skipper and coach Tony Mowbray continued to monitor the former England U20 international during 2020/21. His assistant Mark Venus’s name was on the scouts list for a Blues away game towards the end of the season. As reported last month, Brentford, recently promoted to the Premier League for the first time, have also shown interest in Dozzell, who was a regular for Town in 2020/21 under both Cook and his predecessor Paul Lambert.

Good spot on the comments Surrey.
If we acquire him, he may be a "buy low" situation who thrives at MW University.
The same comments applied to Luke Amos (and to a certain extent Chris Willock) before their games clicked.
The Ipswich fans seem hopeful that it is a swap for Bonne. Who knew that he was a Tractor Boy supporter? Great!

Dave Mac's WLS story in full www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-qpr-tom-carroll-rejects-contract-070621Carroll set to leave QPR after rejecting contractBy David McIntyre 07/06/2021 Tom Carroll looks set to leave QPR after rejecting the club’s offer of a new contract. The midfielder, who recently turned 29, was signed on a one-year deal last summer. He subsequently made 22 Championship appearances before his season was ended in January by a knee injury. Carroll returned to action for Rangers’ development side towards the end of the campaign and was an unused substitute for the first team’s final two matches. He was offered a contract by the club last month along with Charlie Owens, who has been out for almost two years with a knee injury. But Carroll was unhappy with the terms on offer and, although talks are ongoing, it currently seems unlikely that he will be a Rangers player next season. Carroll, who spent the 2013-14 season on loan at QPR from Tottenham, was brought in on a free transfer after being released by Swansea City. Swansea signed him from Spurs for £4.5m in January 2017 but he then managed just 57 league appearances for the Welsh club, largely because of injury problems. He was in decent form for Rangers before being sidelined, but would face stiff competition for a place were he to stay. Sam Field was recently signed on a permanent deal from West Brom and Luke Amos is on the way back from injury, while QPR are trying to agree a deal with Fulham to sign Stefan Johansen. They have also expressed an interest in 22-year-old Ipswich Town midfielder Andre Dozzell.

Shades of BOS - don't make the same mistake twice! With a bit of luck some Turkish club will want him.
Injury prone and light weight - show him the door quick, save the money and give room for a younger player to be on the bench. Plus why does it upset me so much that after a lengthy injury we have paid him for 6 months without him playing, helped him recover and this is the thanks we get. I would never wish anyone to be unemployed but could be tempted to in this case.

The 22-year-old is a product of Ipswich’s academy and has made 93 first-team appearances for the Suffolk club, with 46 of them coming last season. There has been speculation that Rangers’ Ipswich-born striker Macauley Bonne could move to Portman Road in exchange. However, Rangers are not currently discussing a swap deal and do not intend to part with Bonne despite him enduring a difficult first year at the club following his move from Charlton. Bonne, 25, started just eight Championship matches last season and his first-team prospects for next term look bleak following the recent permanent signing of Charlie Austin. But QPR are keen to develop Bonne, who has two years remaining on a contract which includes the option of a further year. From Bristol Live www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-summer-transfer-window-5503460.amp?__twitter_impression=trueFrom Adomah to Yates: The 14 players linked to Bristol City so far this summer transfer windowA closer look at the links, how valid they are and what it says about Bristol City's potential summer business BY JAMES PIERCY 14:37, 8 JUN 2021 Unlike his predecessor Dean Holden, Nigel Pearson will be doing a lot of the heavy lifting this summer in terms of the transfer dealings at Bristol City as he looks to build a new identity for the West Country club. Pearson not only needs to drastically improve on a squad that flirted dangerously close to relegation last season, with City arguably the worst team in the division after January, but also alter the whole culture of the club. At the very least he needs bodies, with 11 first-team players to leave the club later this month and ever-creeping doubts over Andi Weimann and Danny Simpson as their contracts remain unsigned. It has been slow going so far, as is the case for much of the Championship, with only a handful of completed deals across the division's 24 teams but Pearson will be keen to make additions sooner rather than later in what is a deeply uncertain market. Given City's needs this summer - in particular centre-backs and a No 9-type striker - there have been a number of rumours surrounding players and the Robins and here we break them down and address the credibility and validity of each one. Albert AdomahThe much-loved former Robins winger was linked with a City return on June 1 by Football League World with the 32-year-old reportedly unhappy with his situation at QPR in which he's played the role of perennial substitute under Mark Warburton. City's name was mentioned along with several other clubs, including Derby, Birmingham City and Ipswich, however Bristol Live understands there has been zero contact between the Robins and QPR or Adomah's camp. There's also the fact that he still has a year on his contract, plays in a position that Pearson isn't prioritising (yet, at least) and is of an age where any deals represents dead money, in effect.

SOURCES: QPR REACH AGREEMENT TO SIGN IPSWICH TOWN STAR
Published 1 hour ago on 11 June 2021, 8:37 By George Dagless
Queens Park Rangers have agreed a deal to sign Andre Dozzell from Ipswich Town and the move will be announced officially in the coming days, Football League World can reveal..
The Hoops have had a busy, productive transfer window so far with the likes of Charlie Austin, Sam Field and Jordy de Wijs all agreeing to make their loan spells from last season permanent.
Indeed, that should help them build on what was a strong end to last season and the work to improve the squad has continued, with Football League World learning that an agreement has now been reached to sign Dozzell from Ipswich Town.
Earlier this week, West London Sport revealed that Macauley Bonne, who had been touted as being part of a swap deal with Dozzell, would be staying at Rangers as the Hoops wanted to develop him, with talks therefore ongoing over the straight transfer of the Ipswich man.
Those talks, Football League World can confirm, have now come to a positive conclusion from QPR’s perspective, with the 22-year-old midfielder set to be announced as a Hoops player in the coming days.
It’ll be a good addition to the Rangers midfield, too, with the likes of Tom Carroll currently on course to leave the club having not yet agreed on a new contract.

www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-looking-to-sign-fortuna-sittard-left-back QPR looking to sign left-back Cox By David McIntyre 16/06/2021 QPR are looking to complete a deal to sign left-back George Cox from Fortuna Sittard. The Dutch club signed Cox, 23, from Brighton last year after he impressed during a season-long loan. Now Rangers are looking to bring him back to England. He has two years remaining on his contract. Manager Mark Warburton is keen to bring in a right-back and a left-back this summer, with Todd Kane facing the axe. Clubs are aware of Kane’s availability but so far no offers have been received. Moses Odubajo will be signed as Kane’s replacement if he proves his fitness during a pre-season trial. Odubajo is a free agent after recently being released by Sheffield Wednesday at the end of his contract and has been invited to train with Rangers. The 27-year-old has previously struggled with knee problems and made just 18 league appearances last season, the most recent of which was on 1 January. But he is well known to Warburton, having played under him at Brentford. QPR are still attempting to negotiate a deal to sign Stefan Johansen from Fulham. That process was always likely to be protracted – and has been held up further by the expected departure of Fulham manager Scott Parker and likelihood that his replacement will want to assess the squad. Rangers are also looking to sign a back-up keeper and allow Liam Kelly to leave. Kelly is wanted by Motherwell, where he was on loan last season, and Dundee United. The Scot has indicated that he does not want to return to west London to act as cover for first-choice keeper Seny Dieng. Tom Carroll has left the club. He rejected the offer of a new deal and talks with the midfielder have ended.

Unless I am missing lots of news there seems to be very little transfer activity by Championship clubs so far apart from the numerous release of players.
So it is good we have got a few deals under our belt early. I think we will see a few more before the season starts - the one I really want to see is Johansen but I have the feeling Fulham will want to hold on to him until their new manager has had a look at the squad, which means he could be there until January at least. A back up keeper to let Kelly be sold, Cox and the ex Sheff Wed. man (if fit) all seem to fit the bill.
Dozzell in for Carroll is a good move forward - younger and better suited to our game and better potential imo..
We need to see a couple leave (Kane first and Kelly being obvious) and a couple out on loan to get experience and keep the wage bill down but it feels that, as with last summer, we are heading in the right direction of slowly building a squad to challenge near the top. (kiss of death!). The problem with Kane is that he seems to be a problem boy and is already banned for 7 games so who will want to take him on?
