So, was he after Premier League football? Or just a bit more money? Feel like this is everyone painting eachother into a corner. Manning probably could and should have sucked it up and backed down when the Premiership offer never materialised. Likewise, for better or worse, Warbs went hot and heavy on how we won't play players who won't commit their long term futures. When both sides are at an impasse like that, you end up having to take what's on the table. I'd be amazed if this really pleases either Manning or us. He doesn't get his step-up, we don't have our LB who, for all the defensive failings, has superb assist stats and is better than Wallace. We get a fee rather than losing him for nothing though probably not as much as we hoped, and Manning probably gets a bit more money, but not the Prem move he desired. Hardly anyone's dream outcome. Stubbornness all round. Iâd rather we were stubborn than the soft touch we were for so many years before. Give in and itâll be the start of every player running their contract down. That would undermine our entire philosophy.

The Manning situation reminds me almost identically of the Luongo one. That is, a good player coming into the last year of their contract with us not going to be able to pay them what they want (and possibly deserve). So in order to force a trade we freeze them out, forcing them to play with the U23s with no hope of playing for the first team so that they leave and we get some small change for them rather than nothing next summer. Not nice but that's modern football and they are paid very well so I don't feel that bad for them.

We will miss Manningâs attacking output for sure. Thatâs a decent amount of goals and assists lost.
Iâve always been a fan of Manning and genuinely would love to see him in the Premier League sooner rather than later. Itâs a shame we canât pay him what he wants due to FFP and budget constraints, thatâs neither partyâs fault either. Manning has every right to want more money, his production warranted it, but we are right to stick to our self imposed salary cap.
Just a shame he didnât want to sign a new deal, but thatâs his right too and, as others have pointed out elsewhere, this was the same scenario at Bristol City that caused us to be able to get Luke Freeman. So, we canât really complain when it happens to us considering weâve been beneficiaries of it going our way in the past.
I wish him all the best, certainly donât wish an injury on the lad and donât want to see his talent wasted on a bench.

That would undermine our entire philosophy. Well yeah, I'd much rather that too, compared to the bad old days. Just mean it is fundamentally a shame it's ended up the way it has. Things have changed massively since but think the undercurrent of this window is that we're reaping some of the results of the Ollie to Maclaren transition where the latter's team of men approach means some of our players now leaving aren't where they should be, development or value wise.

Very difficult to know what to make of the Manning situation.
But at the end of the day, he has a living to make and his family's best interests to look after. If he's managed to get a significantly improved offer from Swansea, then good luck to him - who wouldn't have done the same?
Disappointed that we couldn't have reached some kind of agreement with him, but you can't win them all.

I suspect that Manning has been made an example of the club's approach to final year of contracts. As others have said, there is possibly more than meets the eye though. Much will depend on the outcome regarding Bright, but if he fails to extend, then questions will rightly be asked about policy consistency. It is also the case that we did not, or were mot in a position to treat Grant Hall in the same way last season. I read on another forum that Manning and Lumley socialise in the Wandsworth area and were approached by a supporter as to what was going on. Manning apparently described his contract offer as derisory, but Lumley pointed to the form and emergence of Dieng and the subsequent surplus of keepers as to the cause of his contract dilemma. Of course, the story may be total rubbish, I have no idea if true, but it could be that QPR wanted to cash in on Manning while his stock was in the ascendancy - particularly after the Bright sale fell through. We possibly had a target for income in the window maybe ÂŁ20m? We talked up Premier League interest and ÂŁ5m valuations. But when neither materialised, positions may have become entrenched and the outcome was a sale at any price, or pay wages with zero residual value. Only time will tell if we are going to adopt this approach for all final year players that we want to extend. I doubt it somehow. I do not wish him any ill, although I was strangely relieved that the transfer was registered, albeit very late in the evening. I guess I thought it was best for all concerned.

I hope BOS signs a new deal. I think it would take some pressure off Chair. Some of the signings we have made are quite interesting in a good way.

QPR pick up striker Mampala By West London Sport 19/10/2020 QPR have signed striker Manasse Mampala. The 20-year-old, who was recently released by Everton, has been brought in on a contract until the end of the season with a view to a longer-term deal. He will initially play for QPRâs development side and becomes the latest in a long line of youngsters snapped up in recent years by Rangers after being released by Premier League clubs. Mampala was born in DR Congo and moved to England at the age of two. He did not make a first-team appearance for Everton but featured regularly for their Under-23s side. Meanwhile, QPR are looking to send Stephen Duke-McKenna â also previously of Everton â out on loan.

If we need a decent left back, get Liberato Cacace Sint-Truiden, Belgium. He joined them from the Wellington Phoenix. Mainly because he knew of the coaches. This guy is the real deal and we're gutted he never stayed BUT he is certainly destined for bigger better things. The hoops would not be wasting their time nor money on him.

QPR and Rovers in talks over Lumley move By David McIntyre 29/12/2020
QPR and Doncaster Rovers are discussing a possible deal for Joe Lumley to remain with the Yorkshire club. The goalkeeper joined Rovers in November and has made nine appearances for them courtesy of his short-term emergency loan being extended a number of times.
Doncaster are hoping to keep Lumley, 25, when the January transfer window opens. The QPR board and director of football Les Ferdinand are open to letting Lumley leave on a permanent basis. His contract is due to expire at the end of the season. Lumley has made 74 Championship appearances for Rangers but lost his place in the side after a series of errors. Both he and Liam Kelly were leapfrogged by Seny Dieng, who was on loan at Doncaster last season and has since established himself as Mark Warburtonâs first-choice keeper. âThereâs dialogue going on between the two clubs. Weâll see how that one pans out,â said Rangers manager Warburton. âWeâre very lucky to have three very talented goalkeepers. Youâve got Liam Kelly whoâs working like a demon every single day, frustrated at not playing. âJoeâs situation will be discussed between Les and the board and their counterparts at Doncaster. Letâs see what emerges from there.â Meanwhile, Warburton says he would like to add some much-needed experience to his squad next month.
QPR interested in Doncaster midfielder Whiteman By West London Sport 30/12/2020 QPR are interested in Doncaster Rovers captain Ben Whiteman. A number of Championship clubs have been monitoring the 24-year-old midfielder, who has scored eight goals this season. Whiteman, who joined Doncaster from Sheffield United in January 2018, is under contract until 2023. Meanwhile, Doncaster are looking to keep QPR goalkeeper Joe Lumley, who has been on loan with the Yorkshire side. According to The Telegraph, Preston are looking to sign Doncaster Rovers midfielder Ben Whiteman in the January transfer window. Itâs claimed that North End are looking to lure Whiteman to Deepdale next month, but face a battle with Queens Park Rangers for his signature. The report adds that Blackburn Rovers have held a long-term interest in signing Whiteman, but couldnât secure his signature over the summer. That may just open the door for Preston to swoop in and sign Whiteman, who has starred in League One for Donny. Whiteman, 24, was on the books of Manchester United and Sheffield United before heading to Doncaster in 2017, initially on loan before turning the deal permanent. The Donny captain has been superb this season, firing eight goals in 22 games, and the time may now be right for him to step up to the Championship. Whiteman starred against Preston in the FA Cup back in January 2019, controlling the game from a holding midfield role, somewhat similar to how Ben Pearson plays for North End. Whiteman can also be a threat going forward though, and with both Pearson and Alan Browne out of contract in the summer, Whiteman looks like an ideal addition to Prestonâs midfield. He still has more than two years left on his contract though, so Preston will have to pay up if they want the Rochdale-born midfielder to make a return to the North West. Shortly after he was named as team captain for the season, Doncaster Rovers reportedly turned down a substantial offer from then Championship side Hull City just before the transfer window deadline on 8 August 2019. The tabled bid was believed to be worth at least ÂŁ1,000,000.

Whiteman would be an excellent signing. He has potential to be in premier league in a few seasons. Always impress me when seen him play but can we afford him? Maybe money + Lumley?

Oh no.
How would we replace Dieng at this point.
He has been worth a goal a game and inspires the other players with his calmness and command of the area Also very capably 2 footed with the ball.
Oh no. Please wait until the season ends Rs.

Not too concerned with the Dieng rumours. I am sure if any deal was reached then it would be good money and a loan back to us for rest of season as he is not ready for the premier league yet.

Cheers 75.
Really depressing if it is Dieng gone.
Unless Barnes is the new Seny, we may be cooked.
What is the market value for quality goalies, such as him, in the last couple of years?

Seems that we are going to sign Glenn Murray from Brighton, paying the same loan arrangement that they had with Watford. Think he will make for a better option from the bench than bringimg Bonne on to play centre forward.

Celtic & Rangers twist: Club in advanced talks to sign Osayi-Samuel â Exclusive By Wayne Veysey -8th January 2021 at 11:35am2 Share Fenerbahce are in advanced talks with QPR over signing winger Bright Osayi-Samuel despite Celtic and Rangers offers, Football Insider can exclusively reveal. The Scottish giants have offered pre-contract deals to the forward, 23, as they look to sign him on a free transfer in the summer. But Football Insider has been told by an industry source that Turkish giants Fenerbahce have stolen a march on the Glasgow duo and are closing in on Osayi-Samuelâs signature. Talks with the player over signing permanently this month, rather than on a pre-contract, are at an advanced stage. That would enable QPR to secure a fee for the wide man, who has knocked back multiple attempts to tie him to a contract extension. Football Insider broke the news in October when Loftus Road boss Mark Warburton axed Osayi-Samuel from the squad after he had rejected a new deal. Rangers and Celtic have looked at a summer deal for Osayi-Samuel rather than a multi-million January deal. He is now free to talk to clubs outside of England about a pre-contract agreement. In addition to Rangers and Celtic, there has also been interest from Premier League clubs including Leicester City, Fulham and Brighton. He came within a whisker of joining Brugge in the summer after they had a ÂŁ5m bid accepted, only for the move to collapse when the player pulled out at the eleventh hour. Osayi-Samuel has started 19 of QPRâs 22 Championship matches this season, scoring three goals and supplying three assists. The versatile operator, who can play anywhere behind the striker including on both flanks, scored six goals and supplied nine assists from 40 matches in all competitions last season. In other news, Celtic have been tipped to sign a Ryan Kent-like signing after a big January reveal. www.footballinsider247.com/celtic-rangers-twist-club-in-advanced-talks-to-sign-osayi-samuel-exclusive/

How come we cant find players like this lad? He sounds completely badass, in a good way that is. Oh wait......all being well this week. Cheers Harr! If he does arrive, he can take Geoff's spot in the middle of the back 3. (hopefully he will not be afflicted with "the curse of Mobley")

I wasnât that impressed with Geoff Cameronâs performance yesterday, looked at fault a few times. Well the defence needs something but is it the actual defenders or the actual coaching staff thatâs the issue. Itâs gone on so long, it does make you wonder.

Warburton expects QPR to make more signings By Ian McCullough 10/01/2021
Mark Warburton is confident QPR will add at least three more new signings this month after completing a loan deal for Charlie Austin until the end of the season.
Austin watched on as his new team-mates went down 2-0 in extra time to Fulham.
The 31-year-old returns on loan from West Brom five years after he left for Southampton following a memorable three-year spell with the Râs, during which he scored 45 goals in 82 games.
People like Charlie have an experienced track record over a period of time scoring goals at the highest level,â manager Warburton said.
âThat is how young players learn from them. The mentoring roles are very important.â
In addition to Austin, the club are set to complete a loan deal for Dutch centre-back Jordy de Wijs from Hull and are keen to bring in a midfielder and a left-back.
âWe are very close on one or two more,â Warburton said.
âWe are very light and young in terms of squad. We saw young guys come on today so we need to add some experience and we are very close to doing that.
âWe need to freshen up and have cover. A lot of the boys will play again Tuesday, then Saturday then the following Wednesday.
âI hope very much we can get three or four more names in this January.â
