Tricky team selection for any manager. Clubs usually select the squad players including the reserve keeper. But with progression through the rounds comes the competition to select the first team and hope for a big payday game or a real cup run. Having lost on Saturday playing poorly, the decision is even trickier. I think than Ingram will start in goal which would be a shame for Lumley returning to his loan club of last season, but that is how it goes. At the risk of saying the 'Kakay' name again, I would think we will start at RB with Bidwell at LB I think we may well rest one of the centre backs (probably Lynch) but I doubt he will play Cameron in this match. Instead I think it may be Hall and Baptise doing 45 each. I think that Chair's good form for the U23's may be enough for a start with Scowen and Cousins. Bright, Wszolek and Smythe will hopefully play some part in the game and probably Smith up front. Could Goss be on the subs bench? Hope that the bench has a little more experience (if needed) than the bench in the last round though.

Only Scowen and Baptiste from Saturday so 9 changes. I predicted 9 out of the 11 - only Leistner and Bidwell incorrect. Goss is indeed on the bench as is Smythe - hope they both get a run out. Blackpool unbeaten in 10 - so it will not be easy. Hope though my other prediction is incorrect as I predicted 3-2 to Blackpool.

Assuming he is not injured, how out of favour must Sylla be? He does not figure even on the subs bench for a cup game and does nor play for the under 23s. The new JET?

That lineup and bench suggests that McClaren wasn’t really bothered about winning this game.
Now we’re 1 down I expect that will be all she wrote.
Bye bye cup run, it was nice while it lasted.

Pathetic result, way to many changes, why play a stronger team in earlier rounds then play so many youngsters. Waste of a chance of getting to last 16, why am I never surprised Rangers.... Expected more in this game, sure Championship status is the most Important, if we get a result at Swansea a so be it then.

Only thankful I didn't bother to go but apparently about 500 did. Poor lot.
I know we do this almost every year and piss away the cups and other clubs do it but bloody hell is it annoying.
Also morbidly interested in how on earth this played out. Five yellows (including Cousins' second) and a red card. 22 fouls to their six. Pretty odd.

I'm all for other peoples' opinions but this isn't about opinions, it's about balance. I'm as pissed off as anyone about this evening's debacle but I also give credit where it's due. Going into hiding when the team are doing well and threatening to stop supporting the if they get relegated or sell a certain player is pathetic and typical of some of the shit fans we have. There, that's MY opinion!

Match Report Brent and Kilburn
Blackpool 2 QPR 0 Jordan Cousins was sent off as QPR yet again dismally exited the League Cup at the hands of lower-division opposition.
Armand Gnanduillet’s goal just before the half-hour mark put Blackpool ahead and Jay Spearing’s late strike sealed the League One side’s place in the fourth round – which Rangers haven’t reached for 10 years.
The visitors failed to register a meaningful effort on goal in a truly woeful performance summed up by the manner in which Spearing had time to fire in the second goal. ADVERTISING
And, on a night when a number of youngsters were selected, two of QPR’s more experienced players left the field early because of their indiscipline.

Cousins, booked in the first half, was dismissed with 20 minutes left when he picked up a second yellow card after fouling Jordan Thompson and then being involved in an off-the-ball confrontation.
Earlier, Josh Scowen was taken off on 25 minutes after appearing to be fortunate not to be sent off.
Soon after being booked for a foul on Gnanduillet, Scowen escaped without picking up another yellow card following a challenge on Callum Guy.
QPR: Ingram, Kakay, Baptiste, Hall, Hamalainen, Wszolek, Scowen (Goss 25), Cousins, Chair (Smyth 45) , Osayi-Samuel (Oteh 77), Smith. We will have to wait for the reports from the poor sods who spent a small fortune travelling to Blackpool to watch that poor performance, but the statistics are pretty astonishing. We were committing fouls from the first minute and throughout and Scowen was booked on 20 minutes and was replaced just after another foul. Presumably, that was to avoid a red card and that duly went to Cousins instead. Three away games off the back of the home defeat to Norwich was always going to be tough and if we take 3-4 points from the remaining 2 away games, I think we will move on quickly. But we have lost two games playing poorly and the pressure is back on to perform again. On the positive side, at least a few of the fringe players got a run out and Hall completed 90 minutes at last. But as I said, the returning reporters from the game will shed more light on the performance.

I suppose one way of looking at it is that we got away with the strategy in the previous 2 rounds, but the task was too great for a group of players who rarely feature at senior level, against an in form team, away from home in a changed formation. But as we have 4 games in 11 days - 3 away from home, and as much as we would all enjoy a cup run, this was the game that was sacrificed. Assuming the Swansea team is something like: Lumley, Rangel, Leistner, Lynch, Bidwell, Cameron, Luongo, Eze, freeman, Wells & Hamed, it would seem that none of these even traveled to Blackpool so should be in for training today preparing for the game. I don't suppose our Sea Team got home very early and will have the day off. At least this time McClaren has come out and said we were out played from start to finish and how frustrated everyone is. Onwards to Swansea and Reading

The team selection showed that we treated this as a run out and test for a few players and that we are not serious about this cup. The crowd of 1,900 odd shows how seriously most fans take it as well. May as well turn it into the Under 23 cup and just leave the FA Cup for the big boys. Good News or bad news of the night depending on your point of view. 1. Kakay and a number of other fringe players were selected and showed exactly why they are not being selected for the first team. Their second goal was a joke as a prime example, as Blackpool walked in from the left wing unchallenged. 2. Hall survived 90 minutes but based on reports Baptiste was far better 3. McClaren was honest in his short after match comments about himself taking a gamble with the selection and it did not work (although it did in theprevious 2 rounds) 4. McClaren had the guts to drag off Scowen after 20 odd minutes due to indiscipline - and more likely to avoid a red card. 5 Return of Rangersman from his hole in the ground. I have really missed his deep insight and detailed analysis of games while we were winning. I have been told (off the record) that he is a "mole" - in both senses of the word - lives under ground and cannot see his paw in front of his face let alone a football game, or he is really one of the Millwall intelligentsia. 6. Dreams of a cup run or pay day game dashed again. 7. Our most likely 2 first team starters in Cousins and Scowen saw the red mist - one pulled off and one sent off. Maybe they were p***ed at being asked to play with the reserves or maybe they tried too hard or tried to set an example to the others to get stuck in. end result Cousins is out on Saturday and probably Scowen will be out to teach him a lesson. 8. No One posted "we don't do cups" 9. Burnley and Man U fielded stronger teams and went out as well - at least we did not try to win. 10. Sad for Pawel to be reduced to that level of game. 11. - please feel free to add any of your own while I wait for a Rangersman insult to fly over my head. 12. We will beat Swansea. Can't disagree with any of that, especially point 5

Having heard more of the managers comments from last night, he is placing the blame firmly on the fringe squad players. Possibly a case of not preparing properly for the interview, but think it will have an impact on the youngsters. I think they need to be talked to behind closed doors, coached and motivated (that is what it said on the tin). Looking at the feedback on other MS boards, he is not doing his standing any favours. Even though we had a good run, I detect that the fanbase is turning. He joined with a poor reputation at other clubs, but a good reputation at QPR, credited with the only good thing to come out of 'arry's time at the helm.
Some comments following his press release from Clive (LFW) Basically Redknapp mark 2 this.
- Comes in, takes one look at the squad, demands the signing of a clutch of expensive, senior players.
- Sticks out nonsense teams in the cup competitions and no matter how well the fringe players play in them, they've no chance of making the league team.
- When said nonsense cup team loses a game, he says "well they can't knock on my door asking for first team chances now can they?" - as if being slung together like that in a scratchy team of players that haven't played for a month is any kind of chance -Sixth clean sheet of the season for Blackpool with Tilt at the back. Tilt who Penrice had picked out for Holloway to sign this summer but McClaren didn't want because he didn't want lower league players. I think Bright is potentially useful to us at the moment, playing without wingers and often struggling to break teams down, playing with no pace at all. Certainly the last 30 minutes when we were wasting time against a crap Birmingham side at 0-0 I would like to have seen him, and much earlier during that boring load of old crap against Norwich. By not even using him occasionally from the bench after he tore into Bristol Rovers sends a terrible message which came home to roost last night which is, play however you like in these cup games, even if you tear the place apart you're not getting picked in the next game.
I thought Smyth looked great in games last season, driving to the byline and delivering quality service, also posing a goal threat. Now completely bombed out and totally demoralised.
This placing of the senior players, lots of whom are on loan, on a pedestal above the younger and fringe players, all of whom are signed permanently, won't end well for him. It looks and sounds terrible, it's uber short term and it'll make for a fractured dressing room.
And if you're right and they're not good enough, then they shouldn't have been fcking playing last night either. That was a big chance for us to actually inject a bit of excitement into things with a cup run, a big tie at home in the next round. For a club that's whinging about money all the time (justifiably) they don't half seem keen to pass up the opportunity to get 18,000 people in for Spurs or Arsenal at home or something like that. Clive LFW
A quite amazing interview, Throwing young players under the bus like it's nothing to do with him. He's in charge the buck stops with him, no one else. LFW

Clive sums it up very well in that article.
Did McLaren or the club warn our supporters before they travelled up last night and wasted their time and money?
Next season we lose our parachute payments completely and won’t be able to afford the loan signings we are currently using.
Smyth was a genuinely exciting prospect when this season started.
Look at the Derby game last night - full strength team and moral boosting win to boot. Young aspiring manager as opposed to past his sell by date ex England coach...
We were outplayed by Norwich and I hope we come out of the blocks better (like Millwall game) when we play Swansea
