Peterborough United have confirmed an interest in QPR midfielder Michael Doughty. Director of football Barry Fry admitted the 24 year-old, who has spent time on loan at Swindon in each of the last two seasons, is on manager Grant McCann’s radar. David Oldfield. “It could be a tough one to pull off,” Fry admitted, “He’s on good money at QPR.” Doughty, a Welsh under 19 and under 21 cap, has started just six matches in six years at QPR. He scored for Swindon against Posh at the ABAX Stadium in each of the last two seasons. Posh are also working on keeping David Oldfield at the club as assistant manager to McCann next season. Oldfield, a former Posh player, filled the role at the end of last season after the sacking of Lee Glover, but has yet to agree a permanent contract. QPR OFFICIAL MACKIE AGREES ONE-YEAR EXTENSION image: www.qpr.co.uk/cms_images/player/mackie-64064-3720505_613x460.jpgPUBLISHED 10:15 19th May 2017 by @qprfc Fans’ favourite puts pen to paper ... JAMIE Mackie has signed a one-year extension at QPR. The 31-year-old attacker, whose current deal was due to expire at the end of June, has agreed a new contract until the summer of 2018. After a productive first spell in the Blue and White Hoops between 2010-2013 that saw the Scotland international score 18 goals in 94 appearances in all competitions, Mackie returned to W12 for his second spell in 2015. Since then, despite injuries playing their part, he’s made a further 19 starts and 16 substitute appearances, scoring twice, including the winner against Championship Play-Off finalists Reading in our 1-0 win at the Madejski Stadium in January. Now the R’s fans’ favourite is relishing the opportunity to continue his love-affair at the place he calls home, telling http://www.qpr.co.uk: “I’m buzzing that the deal is signed and my future is sorted. “Everyone knows how I feel about QPR and when the opportunity came up to extend my stay here, it was a no-brainer for me. “The last two years have been frustrating for me with the injuries, but I’m delighted the manager can see what I can bring by offering me this new deal. “I just want to make sure I have a good pre-season, which I’m sure I will do under the gaffer, and really push on next season. “We know last year wasn’t anywhere near good enough but that’s behind us now and we’re looking to the future.” See also ... Not surprised at Henry and Morrison going. Liked LuaLua but he saw limited action with us so not surprised he's going back. He probably said he wasn't interested in joining us.

Next up Caulker, Ned and Perch and that is just about it. Caulker I get and Perch too (when he's playing right back/trying to murder players with stupid tackles, anyway) but not Ned so much. Feel like he's been maligned a lot this season and whilst he's had wobbles I still feel like he's a decent CB at this level.

Oh yeah, they'd slipped my mind. In fact, I'd forgot JET had been back with us since February after being sent back early. Gladwin, no idea. I guess Holloway hasn't looked at him (unless he's been following him at Swindon) so he may want to, but I can't imagine the signs are good for him.

Les Ferdinand talking Summer Transfers www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/les-ferdinand-transfers-championship-3723467.aspxLES FERDINAND ON QPR’S SUMMER PLANS 15:00 23rd May 2017 Director of Football says Rangers must achieve value for money on targets … Les Ferdinand says QPR must achieve value for money on transfers this summer QPR's Director of Football will join Ian Holloway to meet owners this week LES Ferdinand says QPR are working tirelessly on recruitment to give them the best chance of achieving value for money in this summer’s transfer window. The club’s Director of Football is working with manager Ian Holloway and recruitment consultant Gary Penrice to build a squad for the 2017/18 campaign after the R’s narrowly avoided relegation this term. Targets have been identified, but Ferdinand is keen for a sense of caution as the club continues to work its way towards a sustainable future. Ahead of flying out of the country with Holloway and CEO Lee Hoos to meet the club’s owners, Ferdinand told http://www.qpr.co.uk: “We have to be realistic about where we are, and do everything we can to ensure we achieve value for money on any transfer business. “We are working to a tight budget so in order for us to go out and buy players, we may need to sell to raise funds. “We’ve got targets and we have a board meeting later this week which will give us a clearer picture of how we will move forward.” Ideally, QPR would only look to make minimal changes to the personnel of the squad during a transfer window, but Ferdinand admits that is unlikely this time around. “For a while now I have been talking about the need for stability,” he said. “In the first year I was here we had 13 or 14 players leave, so we had to replenish. “That’s never an ideal situation or what you want to be doing. I want us to get to the stage where we are only having to add one or two. We are not at that stage yet and, if the funds are available, we will probably be looking to do a little more than that this summer.” The transfer window is now open until the end of August and Ferdinand believes it is during this period that his role is crucial, as he looks to futureproof any investments the club makes. “We are looking at targets all the time, and speaking with the manager on a daily basis,” he said. “He has come in, he’s assessed the squad and identified where he wants to strengthen, and told us the type of players he likes and those that he believes can move the club forward. “We all have our ideas and our input. It’s not just about now and the manager, but it’s for the future as well - that’s the whole point of the position I am in. “We can’t base our decisions purely around the manager. We brought Gary Penrice in as a recruitment consultant. That was a QPR appointment with the manager’s blessing. I’ve been trying to bring Gary in for a while, and thought I had him at the start of this season at one point – he came to one of our first games. But Ollie coming in obviously helped us get that one across the line. “Whatever work we do during this window, we have to make sure we make the best decisions for the club.” See also ... Coming back for another go after 3 million turned down. Keep him and Manning and trying building a team around these types of players. That's how United started 10 years of supremacy.

Hate this because if we get a really good offer we probably have to sell in our current situation...but I'd love to see players that highly rated be developed further here and ideally become a core of the first team like Manning has. If we do sell, you'd hope they'd loan him back to us because I'm sure he wouldn't just walk into their first team and he'll need first team experience under his belt at a good standard too.
If we aren't getting silly money from this, I really hope we can convince him that it's worth staying here. He could risk it and go Everton now...but if he has a good season at Championship level, he'll have clubs queuing up for him next summer...
...but then he's only contracted until next Summer so we wouldn't make any money. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Can't believe that some people think that we can turn down offers like this and expect to improve on last season! We need funds to strengthen the squad and the only way we are going to get these funds - until we have a new stadium - is by selling players from time to time! Josh Bowler was not considered Championship first team last season and possibly isn't quite there next season either. So why loan him back to us? If he stays with us he's more likely to go on loan to a L1 or L2 club. Or is he suddenly a better player than Shodipo? JB is clearly one for the future and not that likely to sign a contract extension next season if good PL clubs are interested in him already. And here's the thing...if we sell JB we may not need to sell Smithies. However, if Matt Ingram is going to excel in the Championship why not sell BOTH of them (Bowler and Smithies)and then we'd have a decent amount of funds to strengthen our squad without really weakening it all. The best thing about this is that we are now producing young players with a decent sell-on value. Absolutely vital if we are to thrive and what our new training is partially designed for. This means we have choices - sell promising youngsters and keep more developed first team players; or sell players we have developed into good first team players and bring the youngster through. Encouraging signs.

If Bowler is that promising, maybe a decent percentage in a sell-on clause could be the answer. We certainly got lucky with Sterling.
