I note from the BBC that the proposed Diego Costa move to China has been scuppered because of the changed rules that the Chinese teams can only field three players not four from March - see www.bbc.com/sport/football/38648489I wonder if this rule change is what's holding up the Chery announcement?

If I look back at Hollaway first stint he was very driven by character in his signings...Bircham, Gallen, Palmer etc etc but he did buy a few dogs too. I hope that the club is still staying true to its approach to talent management i.e. Holloway says he want X Ferdinand say you can have one of these 5. Still think thats the way to go No, not too many dogs Eus But if he wants a tough tackling midfielder thats 32 then thats ok with me, same with someone that would be a suitable Captain. But stick with the format they have been using so far but no bad temperament players lke Jet. I think the interest in the Man Utd youngster and Lua Lua suggests we will carry on as we are doing, which is the best thing. We will still get the odd dodgy one but as long as they are not huge money, then worth a gamble I guess. Once Chery departs, would be surprised if we then dont sell El Khayati who has been pretty poor, maybe loan. Gladwin has gone out on loan now. Off the top of my head these canines Serge Branco Richard Johnson Arthur Gnohéré (not awful player but moved on because of accusations) Georges Santos Adam Miller Dean Sturridge (no fitness test)

Hey Ashdown
I dont want to have a Dig about Woody but I heard he might make a Pigs Ears of defending corners and he certainly wont Lead from the front. He is a real livewire that never Sits down and is so Paw at passing, However we could play him in the middle, kind of use him as a Decoy, that way he can Markies man better and Flush out the other defence.
We could start him off on say five Bob Martins, you never know could be the next John Terrier

We could start him off on say five Bob Martins, you never know could be the next John Terrier I think you are barking up the wrong tree or peeing against an electric fence!! Well Harr, you're right about pig's ears, one of Woody's favourites! But he'd bring so much more to the team than just his playing skill. He's so well connected - only the other day he was chatting with one of his pedigree chums at Spurs, Harry Kanine. But the chairman Spaniel Levy got to hear about the meeting and thought his top dog was being tapped up and started bitching to the FA about it. But Woody would certainly be useful for sounding out another much-needed attacking player. OK, not in the league of Paul Pug-ba perhaps, but he feels Wilfred Bone-y might be worth sniffing out. Woody sees Bone-y as a kind of old-school, powerful, direct striker like Emile Husky or Dwight Yorkie. Incidentally, Woody was delighted that Ollie has started winning games at last. He'd heard that Queen's Bark Rangers were looking to possibly replace him with the likes of Paulo Di Canine-io or Doggie Freedman. The only downsides to signing Woody would be that he'd chase Jude around the pitch during the warm-up - and that the ref would need to be equipped with a poop-scoop. Mind you, given the amount of sh*t refs take already, a little bit extra shouldn't make that much of a difference...

From westlondonsport www.westlondonsport.com/sport/holloway-gives-update-henry-qpr-chase-man-utd-midfielderHolloway: It’s up to Karl and his agentBy West London Sport 18/01/2017 Ian Holloway says the onus is on Karl Henry to find a new club after being told he can leave QPR. West London Sport recently revealed that Henry, 34, had been training with Rangers’ development squad and was free to leave Loftus Road following a fall-out with boss Holloway. Henry is not in Holloway’s first-team plans and will fall even further down the pecking order if QPR sign a midfielder during this month’s transfer window. West London Sport revealed on Tuesday that Rangers are keen on Manchester United’s Sean Goss, either on loan or a permanent deal. Holloway said: “It’s up to Karl and his agent really. I’ve got other midfielders and I might also be able to do something in that area.” Goss, 21, is keen to play first-team football and a number of Championship clubs have expressed an interest in him.

Not sure why the worry about Chery, Dave Mc already said it will be done in a couple of days.
Apparently Rotherham turned down a 2 Million bid for there Striker from a Championship club, probably us? Not sure he is worth any more than that?

From WestLondonSport www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-youngster-joins-bristol-rovers-loanQPR keeper Lumley joins Rovers on loan By West London Sport 18/01/2017 Goalkeeper Joe Lumley has joined Bristol Rovers from QPR on loan for the rest of the season. Lumley, 21, has made two first-team appearances for the R’s and has previously been on loan at Accrington, Morecambe and Stevenage. He signed a new contract at QPR in the summer and the club tried unsuccessfully to get him out on loan before the August transfer deadline, but a planned move to Gillingham did not materialise. Lumley could make his Rovers debut against Walsall on Saturday.

No Bamford for us, he's off to Boro. From the BBC www.bbc.com/sport/football/38669717Patrick Bamford: Middlesbrough sign forward from Chelsea2 hours ago From the section Football In his previous stint with Boro, Bamford finished as the club's top scorer with 19 goals and was named Championship Player of the Year Middlesbrough have signed Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford for about £5.5m on a four-and-a-half-year deal. The 23-year-old returns to the Riverside Stadium, where he spent the 2014-15 season on loan from the Blues. He began this season on loan at Burnley but was recalled by Chelsea on Saturday, having made six Premier League appearances without scoring. It was his sixth loan spell away from Stamford Bridge. The deal includes a number of clauses which could see the striker's fee rise. The clauses are dependant on whether Middlesbrough survive in the Premier League this season, Bamford making a certain number of appearances and scoring a certain number of goals. In his previous stint with Boro, Bamford finished as the club's top scorer with 19 goals and was named Championship Player of the Year. Middlesbrough made the play-off final that season but were beaten by Norwich. The former England Under-21 international is Boro's second January signing following the purchase of Rudy Gestede from Aston Villa.

From westlondonsport www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/tottenham-hotspur-forward-aramide-oteh-qpr-trainingQPR look at Spurs teenager OtehBy David McIntyre 18/01/2017 Tottenham youngster Aramide Oteh has joined QPR on work experience. Having featured for Rangers’ development side in a match this week, the 18-year-old forward will now spend at least the next couple of weeks training with the club. Oteh can play on the left flank but is primarily a striker. He is potentially available for a move and the arrangement with Spurs gives QPR a chance to assess him. Oteh played in an Under-23 game against Millwall, as did Stoke City’s 18-year-old centre-back Kosovar Sadiki, who is on trial with the R’s.

Not sure but 500k is not a bad bit of business, assists and scores Agree yeah - I guess he wouldn't fit into our transfer template (peaked, unlikely to sell on for a profit?) but if that's on a short term deal that's a good bit of business. If you were on a play off push 500k for a player who's been there and done it is pretty shrewd potentially.

Good move for Lumley - relative step-up, bigger crowds to play in front of etc. which is good for his development. I only saw him away at Blackburn but he looks a prospect (and he's massive). Can't remember the last time we were in such rude health with keepers. Be shocked if no-one came in for Smithies in the summer.

....and according to WLS Ollie says we are "moving on from Danny Ward" as we have done what we have to do but its stalemate and Rotherham will not even name a price. Now looking at other options. Apparently we are targeting out of contract players or like Freeman out of contract in the summer.
PS I wonder if Ward is unsettled by this and will put in a transfer request instead of getting relegated where he is. Reckon it could do the opposite. Rotherham will know they're at risk and now there's been a fair bit of interest in him the smart thing to do may be to say stay, you're under contract, keep performing and developing. If they stay up then great and if they go down they won't stand in his way if he wants out. Less money than they'd get in Jan but it would probably be awful for their team n fans' morale, it looks like they're basically accepting relegation if they sell now.

The little I've seen of Lumley suggests that he played as a rush goalie at school; he needs to be tethered to his goal to stop him wandering down towards the half way line.

We have moved on from Ward and there 5 million valuation Guess they think they need to keep him to have any chance to stay in this league. Although if his goals dry up, he wont be worth 5 million in league one I doubt.
