Bump/Edit - Just to remember: Now 5 Years ago Yesterday - RIP, John "Gramps" Clifford
Update: Rip - John "Gramps" Clifford.
Gramps: QPR Report Honorary Moderator
Just to announce that we at QPR Report have made Gramps an Honorary Moderator of This Board
Gramps: In All out Thoughts - even if we don't post that every day
In Judaism, we believe that one lives on in the memories and influences you have on others, who then influence others ad infinitum - So Gramps - while we're with you now and you'll be with us for always.
So apologies if I haven't phrased this well, but we all in our different ways are rooting for Gramps

Fan-bloody-tastic Mac and other Mods.
Keep up the good fight Gramps. You certainly live on in me. Your generous spirit and nature have given me pause to think about what I was doing and have made me a better man for it. Thank you

It is with much regret and tears that i have to announce that John "Gramps" Clifford passed away at the Hospice around 7ish. I have just gotten off the phone to his lovely wife. My thoughts are with her and his family and of course his friends.
Bushy, when you read this, I hope you are ok. An you inform everyone of any arrangements for those whom miht wish to show up To his funeral? Also if you can log in at their place I believe the family would also like to leave a message here.
To say I am gutted is an understatement. I spoke with John on a few occassions, just the other week. Like Neil Roberts before him, I will miss my friend immenseley.
John, you were a lovely guy and a very good friend. Hopefully God has now got you working on a new book. "The History of Heaven 2015 - "
The pain has been taken but so too has my friend. RIP John.

How very very sad... If there's any consolation at all, I guess that it might be that this didn't drag on for too long. But this is horrible, horrible news, even if we expected it. I don't think we expected it quite so soon RIP There's a lot out there and in his book This was from last year when marking 75 Years of Supporting QPR Report Messageboard - - Follow QPR REPORT on TWITTER! -_____________________________________________ 75 Years Following QPR QPR Fan, John "Gramps" Clifford recently marked a truly amazing Milestone: 75 Years of Supporting QPR. From the days of QPR in the Old Division III South - to the 1948 Promotion...and 1952 relegation; the years in the wilderness; 1967 and on...and so forth Johnvery first game was at Loftus Road pre-World War II: February 25, 1939. In the words of John " QPR 1 Torquay United 1. Our goal scored by inside right (number 8) Harry Lowe. As usual, we were 0-1 down before getting the equaliser (nothing new there) and Alec Stock played in that game. Attendance: 7,783." Since then John many hundreds - if not thousands of player- have worn the QPR shirt and more than 40 QPR Managers and Acting Managers over this period (although just four manager - Ted Vizard, Dave Mangall, Jack Taylor and Alec Stock for the first almost 30 years of John's supporting days!) - Flashback to John Clifford's Very First Game: February 25, 1939 (from Bushman Archives) For details of these early years of John's QPR-following years see his Book "QPR The Old Days"

Desperately sad news. I didn't know John personally but had exchanged a number of emails with him and always found him keen to help and patiently impart his knowledge of the old days. Thankfully he will always be with us both on here and through his wonderful book. The world is a poorer place for his passing.
My thoughts are with his family and friends, RIP John

I said to him on our last call that there was a similarity in looks with John and the late Warren Mitchell to which he laughed and then thanked me for insulting him. But really, there was imo. Except John was QPR through and through and not a Hammer.
