Rory I certainly welcomed Hughes - as the best available option I think Fernandes sticking with Hughes...Match after match...and to my eye, denigrating Fans...That was his worst fault And yet polls on this very forum suggested some people think hughes should have had EVEN LONGER unbeleivably...you can't please all of the people all of the time!! Youre right about southampton though...confidence breeds confidence...i thought our luck was changing today we were battered but not conceeding somehow...then cisse....well that'll teach me to get my hopes up I suppose, but yeh it was only 2 minutes anyway.

Well if we go down, I want us to go down fighting...and certainly obviously to avoid "beating" the record low point number... I think our winnless streak will be around for a while...I can live with that. But not a low points number....
And we want to get in the mood for a "Bounce Back" season next season, if that's what it comes to
(Of course I was SURE - like many of us) we'd be bouncing back within a season or two - under Ray Wilkins...!

Don't think anyone thought it would be this bad but how many are that surprised?
Allowing your manager to buy older players, winners elsewhere, on high salaries was at the expense of a) generating a team and b) signing players who are eager to learn and better themselves. That lack of foresight is down to TF. Maybe he thought that experience was the key to improving in this league but failing to recognise the possibility that signing experienced players would lead to a lack of effort and care from the majority of them is naive.

Look, weve done our best. Tango and Cash got their four year plan then found a buyer, better late than never. If they hadnt, may, I say may, as one never knows, e wouldve gone down last year.
Anyway Fernandes has done his best and inherited the lack of infrastructure and home grown which we never have had, at least for 20 yrs or so. So the season will play out. Unless there is a vast change in the level of play will drop like a stone.
Decembers schedule is not hard, still for us it is since we have a sieve at back and only today, got two goals. It aint over til its over. Green played great, Nelson, boswinga mostly, Cisse took his one chance, Mackie messed for their goal, swp finally a perfect pass and also Tarbs.

We've got Warnock signings of last year and Hughs last Jan
Well if we take the summer signings...we weren't THAT far away
Nelsen was good signing
Green on paper was good signing
Hoillett seemed good young signing
Granero youngish, sell on
Johnson, yes with some injuries, but good free signing
Cesar - Good goalie, but crazy to sign when had Green signed
Park we agree was for Commercial reasons as well (but that might have paid for itself) - and if so Fernandes obviously involved
Dumping Helguson & Connolly always seemed very questionable

Exactly mac, bosingwa and fabio were hardly seen as terrible sigings i dont think either. We should have kept HH though connolly was just frightening. and way out his depth...and that was just in the championship ;D I'd forgotten about junior...and where was park again today he seems to be here one week gone the next all the time All in all I dont remember anyone complaining about the above signings AT THE TIME...so why should TF who arguably knows less about football than us know any better He's just a good chairman, fan and has money to help. He cant be expected to sign/block players and that shouldn't be his role anyway IMHO. And RE: park yes it may have been commercial reaons but I always admired him at man utd, he seemed to work his socks off and seemed a very competant player at the highest level.

Mac, to bounce back next year will mean TF (if still here!) will need to have a clear financial and personnel (management and player) strategy on how to do it and stick to it. Wilkins was sacked far too early in our first season and it took us years, and another drop, to get back.

Wilkins was sacked far too early in our first season and it took us years, and another drop, to get back. I agree that I don't think TF (if here- hopefully!) should just spend spend spend to try and get us back up...hopefully we'll have no problem offloading half our squad next season if theyre not up for it - and a pay cut i would suggest!! My only worry is where do we find these young hungry players everyone thinks we should be signing?

jj i see that as part of TFs (if here!) strategy, to get the youth set up to how it was in the 80s, to appoint a Chris Gieler.
He needs to establish a long term solid plan, which Wigan, Swansea and Norwich have followed.

Mr. Fernandes must shoulder some of the blame i think.
His lack of footballing know-how is forgivable had he appointed someone other than the manager to oversee the footballing side or at least supervise it, they way he has Beard oversee the business aspect of QPR FC.
His ego in being Chairman while being busy jet-setting around the world running his airline, meeting prime ministers and presidents and whatever else the rich do, personal time with his family and more. No person has the energy or vitality to focus on all things equally. His business style is interfering with the effective running of your club I feel. Either he gets PR, stays in London and keep an eye on things on a daily basis, keep everyone on their toes by his mere presence in the Loft, or get a Chairman who will.
His insistence on being in the Premier League at all costs has led to panic decisions such as the overspending on substandard players, accepting that the previous players are not good enough, then firing managers when results don't show improvement. As long as he is motivated by this, he will keep on making the same mistakes (Harry Redknapp is definitely a short term solution to me).

Fair enough budgies can;t argue with doing that, but until that comes to fruition we still need to stay afloat somehow...thats years and years of waiting for a youth setup that may (or may not remember!) produce the goods...until then it'd be nice to at least stay in the championship if not the PL...on paper, you'd think we could stay in the PL with this squad and maybe another CB....in reality it seems you should never look at whats on paper! And of course if we were to stay in the PL the question is would our youth palyers ever get a look it -unlikely in this day and age sadly!

Plenty of blame to go around and plenty of time to point the fingers in the NPower Championship next season.
Maybe we can do a reverse Arsenal and go a whole Premier League season without winning?

I believed the QPR Programme in the final programme pre-FA Cup Final, when they assured us after we failed promotion FA Cup Final Season something to the effect of "We'll take care of promotion next year, you can count on it" And I absolutely believe them. (Of course, having Terry G-D Venables in charge, gave SUCH CONFIDENCE & Belief we were indeed G-d's chosen team!)

If I may I would like to point out a few obvious observations.
1. There are still 22 games to go or 66 points to play for. 2. No one has ever been relegated in December. 3. We are only 8 points from safety. 4. We are unbeaten under Redknapp. 5. In the last two weeks we have closed the gap on most of the teams around us 6. At Q.P.R. we write the most unbelievable scripts.
I’m not giving up and I look disdainfully on those who have. When has supporting Q.P.R. even been easy? One win, just one win, and it will all look so different. I’m going to Loftus Road next Saturday, there is no way this is over.

It's about realism now, the rose coloured things are off. tf was always going to be a non entity at our club. we have never had in recent time a decent owner. we went from clued up about money owners to clued up about nothing owners who have money. the latter is more dangerous.

Maybe true...But thing is people can learn and develop... Fernandes to put it mildly is not an idiot. And is a big success in business. The question is not whether those skills transfer. But whether he's learned that he doesn't know things...And he has to chose wisely who to rely on/who to advise him.. Assuming of course, he intends to stick with us. And we can question that...And he can assure us. But we'll just have to wait and see (Can't wait till the Fan Forum!

His comments about his reliance on IJ made some months ago said it all Mac, i can't remember thw exact words but i'm sure you know here i am coming from. This may not have been the only quote. But this is one "...So this is not something that is easy to run; that's why I go out and meet people, that's why I sit down with Ian [Taylor, the club media officer] and I get his views on players. I suck in everything. I don't think you could run an airline or any business without immersing yourself in it..." As we have been all season we have been good in parts, very good some times and sh1te in others. If Cisse's break had resulted in a goal we would have got all three points. Would we have deserved it? Probably no, but in football results don't always go with the better team. We have a difficult run coming up, but with luck and hard work we can get some results. It's dire but not all over yet. Also thought Green looked good.
