My thoughts exactly. It was a superb corner from SWP last week that led to Gabbidon's goal against MK Dons. Think you are clutching at straws a little bit there mate lol. "superb" I think Buzsaky's free kick against Wigan was "superb" maybe taking a corner from a stationary position is a something that Shaun Wright Phillips can cope with a little bit better than when the ball is moving, but if we are using words like "superb" to describe a corner against MK Dons then we really are in trouble. Shaun Wright-Phillips is one of the worst players I've ever seen at QPR & i'll stand by that comment. Taarabt cant come back soon enough IMO. You really do come across as extremely bitter. It was a pinpoint cross of the ball which I described as "superb" because it couldn't have been any better. You can use whatever words you like.

SWP didn't aim for Gabs head, he just hit the ball into the box and hoped someone got it. As far as I'm concerned you can't really mean to get an assist from a corner.

Not saying he did Rory, just that 90% of the corners I see go too far or too short. Credit where credit is due, that one was right into the danger area.

If I was an opposition manager, I would explicitly tell my players to be ready to counter attack the moment Shaun Wright-Phillips gets on the ball, let him run around for a bit until other players are out of position, then one of two things will undoubtedly happen; (A). Shaun Wright-Phillips will give the ball away to an opposition player, 10 times more likely scenario than him finding one of his own teammates. (B). Shaun Wright-Phillips can & will be manouevered off the ball by an opposition player in the easiest most apologetic manner imaginable.
The opposition team by this time are halfway down the pitch approaching QPR's 18 yard box.
I can see a Mick McCarthy or Alex McLeish working on something similar to this as we speak, I know I would be.

"Shaun Wright-Phillips is one of the worst players I've ever seen at QPR & i'll stand by that comment." KLR have you lost your mind? did you start supporting the R`s yesterday? Ive seen hundreds of worse players at QPR. Name me one right winger we have had down the years with less passing, crossing & shooting ability ? Discounting the "superb" corner he took against the mighty MK Dons, by my reckoning, I make it 4 games in a row now where Shaun Wright-Phillips has failed to supply one cross good enough to beat the first man. Before he joined QPR I thought he was an awful player, but now I think he's even worse, I just dont think he can play football, its as simple as that. I'm not sure why people are arguing either ? I mean if you can show me any evidence to the contrary, then go right ahead. I'd have him in my worst QPR side of alltime, John Curtis is in there too, that's how highly I rate SWP!

I think Kerslake was a right winger, I think. He wasnt as bad as Wright-Phillips, not by a country mile. He could play football you see.

KLR is correct though, SWP has been a headless chicken for a long time. Most of us were happy when he signed because he is a biggish name, and we were just praying he would come good. We are still waiting though.

thanks klr. i was looking for that. ;D He's changed his tune on Barton though Barton was a player I talked up a lot before / when we signed him, when he came to QPR I thought we had signed a great player, now I just think he is a good player. & Joey Barton moving to London was always asking for trouble looking back on it. Now I dont like to blow my own trumpet, but go and have a read of the SWP thread, hmmmm, didnt have a clue what I was going on about there did I ?!

All I know if I was manager yesterday, I'd have spread the taking of free kicks and corners...Don't see how Smith or SWP could have been worse...And just different players would make differnce. Now if we'd got a penalty yesterday after Helguson off (and I hate his penalty taking even though it seems to work), I'd have had Barton or Smith take the penalty.

And another thing I want to get off my chest about Joey Barton; I think mistakes were / have been made in the way this player has been indulged, the way he is allowed to do all this ridiculous stuff in the media that detracts from his highly paid job as QPR Captain, I think mistakes have been made, that can still be rectified.
I dont think I've ever seen a modern professional football player more indulged by the media, the club needs to make a stand at some point, how many publicists does a professional footballer need ?, are interviews about Morissey / The Smiths on Football Focus altogether necessary ?
What I'd like to see is someone of intelligence & International business acumen / standing such as Amit Bhatia take Joey Barton out for dinner & explain to him in a friendly way about the way people conduct themselves & professionalism etc, if Joey Barton is as intelligent as he thinks he is, then surely he will take it on board.
I havent written Joey Barton off yet.
