No time to read that but I wonder if they'll both be on football focus together.

I agree with many of the comments about the appropriateness of what has been said but there are a number of ppoints that strike me about yet another QPR saga. Firstly what Barton has said in a very public way is no different to what players have been saying for years in similar circumstances the difference was the comments appeared on the backpages and were coded in 'jounalist speak'. We all know the terms, a source close to player 'x', a club insider, or even ex-players with 'from what I am hearing..'
The point being that there is nothing that different about the things being said just the means by which they can now be communicated, that is instantly (without thinking through the words properly sometimes) and direct from the horses mouth without the filters of PR people or journalists. It does not make it any more palatable but to paint Barton as the devil incarnate (whatever his other failings may or may not be) is a bit OTT.
Many posters who have pointed out the actual things that were said in various interviews and then how they have been characterised in headlines afterwards and I think this is a really important point. Barton has a certain reputation, sports pages love controversy, Barton decides to make pointed comments, press have new story. One could say that Barton was being foolish and that having complained about his sending off being about reputation he could start to try and do some positive by being less ready to react (maybe over react) everytime something is said, or brought to his attention that he feels is an unfair slight on him. It seeems to me he is being played by the media because they know he will bite and they get extra stories out of it as a result. Had Barton said nothing NW would have done his round of interviews and it would have been yesterdays news. Now the story has run for days and continues. So yes Barton should not have bitten, but has he said something that players never did before? No of course not.
NW is not entirely without blame, as much as I was disapppointed at what happened and have written to him he is anything but stupid and has proved to be very savvy when it comes to the media, under the old regime when stories about him being sacked were in the press, about budgets (or lack of budgets) and so on, none of these stories would have being to the benefit of GP BE or FB so where did they come from? I understand he is hurt by what happened (quite rightly so) but he has been critical of others and he must have known it would provoke a reaction of some sort!
Without in anyway wishing to try and 'spin' what the board did to NW, in fairness they have publically said nothing but good things about him, set up an email account so fans could send personal messages of support and thanks and as I understand continued to speak to him in friendly terms. He is also fortunate enough to have financial security unlike many who lose their jobs.
Lastly as regards player behaviour there is a danger of being a bit 'holier than thou' and I say this not as a Barton supporter, the incidents that have been well reported on regarding his misdeameanours. However, if I think back to some of my heros they are a really mixed bag, some led very respectable lives as professional athletes but some were anything other than that, associating with criminals, organised crime, addiction problems and so on. The difference was in many cases that people knew about it but it hardly (if ever) made the press and they were popular with the fans. But if the concern is about how these players reflect on our club as representatives of QPR then how good a player that person is or how much they are liked should have no bearing on whether they should be an employee or not.
Sorry for the rant, I felt NW should have been allowed to continue, I think he deserves respect and I think that JB has not acted either wisely or in the best interests of the football club but I do think there is a bit of perspective missing in some of the reactions I have read.

oldman you are so right. There are much bigger things at stake the next few weeks than these silly school-boy games! NW and Barton are both way too opinionated and gobby, but as you say it's only because of the likes of twitter we find these things out, I'm sure it was going on many years before all this tecnology made it public domain! 3 points for the r's we need all the crowd on side of all 11 players today and be the 12th man for us

Nice piece oldman ! Warnock cools Barton row Ex-Hoops boss not willing to start a war with skipper Last Updated: January 21, 2012 11:25am Warnock: Not willing to start a war with QPR captain Joey Barton Former QPR boss Neil Warnock has refused to enter a war of words with Rs captain Joey Barton following his outburst against the ex-manager. The veteran boss lost his job at Loftus Road two weeks ago, just seven months after winning promotion to the Premier League. He reacted earlier this week by suggesting forces inside and outside of the club had been "poisoning" owner Tony Fernandes against him via social networking site Twitter. That prompted the outspoken Barton to launch an attack on the 63-year-old yesterday, with him tweeting that Warnock was an "embarrassment" and comparing him to fictional manager Mike Bassett. Disappointed But writing in the Independent on Saturday morning, Warnock insisted he does not want to trade blows with the player who he signed from Newcastle in August. He said: "I'm told Joey Barton had a few things to say about me on Twitter last night. Obviously, I'm disappointed with the comments, but I don't feel there's any need to respond. "I don't have a problem with anybody at QPR and when I tuned in on Sunday to watch their match at Newcastle I was cheering them on. "That might surprise people since I was sacked but most of the QPR players I brought to the club, many of them are the same players who did me so proud in winning the Championship last season, so obviously I want them to do well." Not bitter Warnock also claims his comments about Fernandes have been taken out of context. He said: "I'm not bitter at all towards Tony Fernandes and I was disappointed at the way some comments I made on TV this week were sensationalised by the tabloids. "I was asked about tweeting and said it was a dangerous path to go down, when players and fans are tweeting the chairman, as one person's opinion could get undue weight, and it's hard to have much context in 140 characters. "Then I picked up the papers and read I was "poisoned", which wasn't what I meant at all." www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7445758/

His career and life have been marked by numerous controversial incidents and disciplinary problems,[4] and he has been convicted twice on charges of violence. On 20 May 2008 he was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for common assault and affray during an incident outside a McDonald's restaurant in Liverpool City Centre.[5] Barton served 77 days of this prison term, being released on 28 July 2008.[6] On 1 July 2008 he was also given a four months suspended sentence after admitting assault occasioning actual bodily harm on former teammate Ousmane Dabo during a training ground dispute, on 1 May 2007.[7] This incident effectively ended his Manchester City career.[8] Three days after his release, he was charged with violent conduct by The FA for the assault on Dabo.[9] In October 2011, some newspaper reports published pictures of him alongside Tommy Robinson prompting accusations of links to the EDL. Barton has denied any such links.[10] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joey_Barton

I think we have done...I was opposed to him signing...I've hated his tweeting (while ignoring usually reading)...Would be happy to sell him...AND absolutely what he did about Warnock...And previously Taarabt.
But we're paying him King's fortune... And while not as good as we hoped, he's still decent (if that's not an oxymoron to use when describing Barton Attribute!)
From your perspective: While we do have him, would YOU play him today and in future.

About a week or so ago I actually defeed barton and felt that, poor recent from notwithstanding, he deserved a chance to remain at the club until at least the end of the season. In addition I still believed that he was stiched up by Norwich and should never have been sent off.
I'm not sure how other people have interpreted NW's comments, but after reading them I can't see where the problem is. Yes I think the timing may have been wrong but whatever he said can hardly be seen as direct criticism of JB.
That all said, whatever the merits about the saga between NW and JB I have the following to say to Barton; You are the club captain, which means you need to represent the club in a manner that does not destroy the reputation of QPR. That doesn't mean you are not allowed to have thoughts of your on - it means you have a bigger responsibility to filter them before you make them public.
Your outrageous comments, no matter how you personally feel, has shown that you ar enot fit to be captain of this club. In fact if I am brutally honest - you are not fit to represent QPR (or any other club for that manner) in any position.
I see you are in the team today - well I'm telling you this. You had better perform like you have never performed before because if we lose today I can guarantee that the fans will take it out on you - and I doubt they will ever forgive you. You have a lot to do to redeem yourself - and it starts in 20 or so minutes form now.
Finally I need to tell Mark Hughes something - For the Love of God ban the use of twitter or any other such thing in the club. They are embarrasing you, the club, the fans and themselves.
