My first memory was from 1947 standing in the kids pen behind the goal front of the loft, with Frank Neary hitting the back of the net and the ball finishing two inches from my face. I'm proud to confess at being to see us at our lowest home gate and our biggest at Wembley. Years later game after game watching from the South Africa Road "embankment" and moving to the other end at half time to follow the attack. Refeshments were Percy Daltons peanuts "tanner a bag" being sold from a sack by someone who paid to get in, leaving the terraces littered with shells. My family are in the fifth generation for supporting the Rs, my Grandfather being the first who spoke of helping to carry the posts to where ever we were playing in our Nomadic days. We hope but not always expect, but when our hopes are realised they become all the more sweeter. So many treasured memories. the Percy Daltons were sold by a character called Charlie Ferris [peanut charlie] who also sold them over White City dogs, i got my rossette off him for 67 cup final , he was also the road sweeper for Shepherds Bush market , was also muffin man and toffee apple man on the White City Estate and organised football competitions on the old Red Ash next to the Springbok

Although I have only seen QPR play on TV I did manage to take trip down to Loftus Rd in Jun 1992 - I think they were bust renovating the stadium then.
I was in London in Aug 1998 and was hoping to watch QPR play Walsall (I think) in a League Cup tie but as luck would have it they held the tie on the Wed night for a change - the same night that I had to fly out.
From 1976 until early 1980 I never saw a QPR televised game - having to rely on pictures of QPR in Shoot mags & annuals and the odd press clipping that my grandfather used to send down to me on a weekly basis.
Then in early SA got to see highlights of QPR beating Preston 3-0 at Deepdale - with Tony Currie scoring a cracker - on M of the Day package. Shortly after that they showed the 1-1 draw at home to Birmingham - with us getting a last gasp equalizer.
Things have changed for the better for overseas fans these days. Those days I had to rely on a crackly BBC world service and local press coverage which, assuming they mentioned Rangers, varied from good to unreliable - not to mention dated. These days the internet helps - along with coverage of Sky Sports segments, the FL show and of course live QPR games that they show down here.
My highlights of being a QPR fan down here; Beating West Brom in the 1982 FA Cup semi-final (which they did not show down here - although they showed highlights of our cup run later) and the 2 subsequent FA Cup finals.
The Old Trashford New year's massacre - Dennis Bailey, Roy Wegerle, et al. The look of every SA Manure fan the following day told its own story.
The 2 Promotions seasons - in .1983/84 )and 13 years of top flight football that followed) & 8 May 2004.
Funnily enough (or luckily enough) they deemed a LC final between QPR & Oxford not to be of any interest (it is all Man Bloody Utd & Liverpool down here), so they never showed the game down here - not even highlights.
Worst moment - the 2000/01 season, an absolute nightmare; in my opinion easily the worst season in QPR's history. If you had told me 10 years earlier (when we finished in the top 10 of the premiership) that that would have happened I would have had you certified. Mind you look what is happening to us now - 10 years after that nightmare.

I started supporting them mid seventies, when I was a wee lad. My first game was 82-83 season against Derby, we won 4-1. I think the scorers were Sealy, Gregory and Stainrod, what a great team that was. U rrrrrrrrss

Thanks superhoop67 for the insight on who (Peanut Charlie) was, he appears to have been quite a character, I always remember him dodging around the terraces throughout the matches with the top of his sack rolled down and the bags of nuts showing, he always had the same big overcoat summer or winter stretching down to his calves; with all the jobs you say he had I wonder if he died a "millionaire", probably not, anyway his nuts tasted great. Just a couple more memories from way back, firstly was sitting on the crush barrier with my Dad holding me, then getting down at half time and full time completely unable to walk because of the pins and needles in my legs. Another memory was that you always had the same people standing near you on the terraces, and come the match on Christmas morning the peolpe you knew around you would all be making use of their presents, new caps, kid gloves, and many smoking King Six cigars ! ! All good memories. the Percy Daltons were sold by a character called Charlie Ferris [peanut charlie] who also sold them over White City dogs, i got my rossette off him for 67 cup final , he was also the road sweeper for Shepherds Bush market , was also muffin man and toffee apple man on the White City Estate and organised football competitions on the old Red Ash next to the Springbok Read more: qprreport.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=662&page=6#134147#ixzz1Fq6KO3Hc

Mentioned before but.....since early '70's. Don't know what season, don't know the opponents. Up the School End, maybe because it was the cheapest, don't know. Don't ask me questions as I dunno.

Hello everyone, I am a first time poster. I grew up in Park Royal so there really was only one team for me. I suppose it was the League Cup Final that did it, so you can put me down for 44 years and counting.

My first game was at home to Arsenal in 86/87 i think we lost 4-1, my second game was at home to Arsenal in 87/88 where we won 2-0 to go top of the league, i got my first season ticket in 89/90, i didn't miss any home games in 11 years from 1989 to 2001. Nearly there for the 25 years.

There's some great support there, I have been going to Rangers since the mid seventies, maybe earlier my dad can't remember my first game to my annoyance! My earliest memories were of games in 1977-78 when I went to the majority of the home games,I can remember Leicester City a 3-0 win with Frank Mclintock then Leicester manager giving the team talk on the pitch, beating Liverpool 2-0, playing Wealdstone at home in the FA Cup while wearing all white for some reason. I sampled my first away game in January 78 a 0-0 draw at Leicester, the following year we went down to division 2 and I went to all the London aways in the relegation season, my first being a 5-1 reverse at Arsenal with the Rs going 4-0 down at half time. I have had some incredible memories and met some fantastic people following the Rs home and away I have seen us play at 72 league teams, and was a season ticket holder from the early eighties right up to 3 or 4 seasons ago when mismanagement decided to price us out of the areas we had all sat in with the familliar faces we had got to know over the years. I would say that in my years of following the team my most memorable matches would be the 1982 final and semi final, followed by the wins at Liverpool in 1991 and Man United in 1992, after so many years of getting beaten at them places, not forgetting Oldham at home in the Play Offs the most incredible atmosphere I have been a part of... You could go on for ever with memorable games, the comebacks versus Newcastle 5-5 and Port Vale 4-4 were great matches and of course the 6-0 thrashing of Chelsea.. ;D

First post for me on the Boards. I have supported QPR since 1974, when I recall watching Rangers play Coventry and liking both clubs strips (we were in hoops and they in vertical emerald and green stripes). I vowed to follow whichever team won. As I remember we won 3-0, god knows what I would have done in the event of a draw. (I must have been a fashion victim even at 8 years old!!)
Ironically, around this time I remember allocating my younger brother Sheffield United, as they seemed permanently glued to the bottom of the first division. Once old enough to realise my cunning plan he switched to Leicester City and has been with them, ever since.

Having recently bought both the 'Big Match' videos from the club shop, I found that very game against Coventry City where my 37 year allegience to the R's began. It was played on the 10th of November 1973. (coincidentally my wifes birthday, although not 1973!)
As a boy of seven I can now clearly remember that it was the famous cup final win of Sunderland over Leeds, in that same year, that first got me interested in football.
How different it was back then, Keith Weller in his tights, players having a fag at half time, Bowles checking the Racing Life whilst preparing to take a corner, the likes of Frank Worthington, Archie Gemmill and Bob Stokoe in his mac and trilby skipping across the Wembley Turf like a 6 year old..................I better stop as this is going swiftly in the direction of 'little boys in the park, jumpers for goal posts'!!
