I'm not quite in the same, for want of a better phrase, "doom and gloom" state you're in harr, but not too far behind. Is it the FFP pending settlement stopping the signings, a gross over reaction to the sp byendthrift days or something else I don't know but it's frustrating?! Yeah I'm sure its the imminent FFP thats the main reason behind it. They cant actually tell us though as they are not allowed to discuss any of the case. There saying they wont be held to ransom in deals but in theory FFP is actually determining our currect state more than anything. We still have time to get deals done in August and I fully expect us to get 3-4 deals done by the end of August as they have too as we are a weak team at this moment in time but would imagine most will be loans now. We have certainly gone from one extreme to the other, chucking money at any old mug that wanted a juicy pay cheque to this. I preffered it like a year or so ago when we picked out a few players like Borysuik, Chery and Smithies and spent say a Million or two on a player for the future but perhaps im being greedy but thought that sort of spending was a controlled level for us. Obviously not until FFP is sorted. Even teams near the bottom of the table are spending 4-5 Million on a player improving themselves, if all these ones add a player here and there, how we going to compete with them next year. The nuts and bolts of it mate is with all the penny pinching our last set of accounts showed us 11 million in the red! We have got to go through this pain because of the stupid way our club has been run over the years! When I see the likes of Burnley doing alright in the premier it makes me wanna pull my hair out, that should have been us! There is gonna a be a lot more pain before we get through this ! So I'd say buckle up and get used to it!!

If the opportunity to upgrade on what we have at an affordable price arises, then we will no doubt pursue it. Eg Davis will be an upgrade on Doughty and Manning. This doesn't mean that Doughty or Manning won't improve or even become better players than Davis in time, but for now Davis is probably the better player of the three - and we are more likely to win games with him regularly in the side than the other two for now. Like all clubs, we need results now. The manager needs results now. The fans cry out for results now. Too dangerous to blood players for the future - they have to get better elsewhere. On loan for instance. "Like all clubs, we need results now. The manager needs results now. The fans cry out for results now. Too dangerous to blood players for the future - they have to get better elsewhere. On loan for instance" As people that know me are aware, this is one of my pet hates! How young is too young? If it wasn't for playing youngsters we would never have escaped the third division in the 60's! If it wasn't for playing youngsters we would have lost half of our greatest ever side! If it wasn't for playing youngsters we would lose half of the Venables side! Did anyone at those times think they were too young to play? Does anyone under the age of 25 think that Furlong, Manning. Doughty, Shodipo etc are too young to play now? NO, of course they don't! This too young business is nearly always us old buggers looking back & not wanting to accept that the current youth haver the same right to enjoy/celebrate themselves as we did! I don't know many young people that think they can't perform on the same level (or better) as their elders, whether it be in the sports arena, at work or socially. Just the same as we were at that age! This experience lark is utter nonsense. It is often a term for mediocrity & lack of adventure! Experience is omly ever helpful if used in conjunction with youth & flair. BTW, we WILL achieve better results with the players I named in the team NOW. Why? Because they are hungry, because they are more inventive, because they are not so afraid of failure, BECAUSE THEY ARE BETTER PLAYERS! When I started playing adult football at the age of 15 I never believed that I wssn't old enough or that players were better than me because they were older/experienced. Neither will teenagers now! Great post mate and i totally agree with you!
